EDIT (11/25/15): I called this morning and spoke to Eric (the owner) who assured me they would be more than happy to take the laptop and return it back to its initial state at time of drop off, free of charge. On top of this, Jason (one of the techs) called while I was on the phone with Eric, wanting to apologize for him not checking whether it booted up after reassembly, and assuring me it would be corrected. While its unfortunate the screen couldnt be fixed as easily as I had hoped, this very human effort to make sure their businesss reputation and customer service record remains intact is a big positive in my book. ORIGINAL REVIEW (11/24/15): My laptops screen stopped working roughly a year ago. Everything else worked just fine, and it was still completely functional with an external monitor plugged in, functioning as the laptops display. I finally decided to have it fixed and brought it in to West Seattle Computers. I knew the issue wasnt with the GPU as, again, it displayed video absolutely fine on any external monitor plugged into it. I explained this to the owner when I came in, saying that it was likely either the screen itself, or the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the motherboard. He said he would have a tech diagnose it and they would call me in a few days with what they found. I happily paid the $45 fee and went on my way. Roughly a week later, I called them back to check on the laptop and see if they had found anything. I was told that it was the screen that was bad and a new unit would cost $75 with labor set at $90. I gave the go ahead to order the new screen and make the repair. I call again a week later, and am told by the tech that they installed the new screen, but the backlight wont stay on, so they recommend replacing the GPU as well as the CPUs fan for another $215, which may or may not fix the problem. I decline the recommended service and request they return the screen they ordered (since it didnt fix the existing issue), reinstall the original screen, and seal it back up. The added repairs would have exceeded the laptops value to me, so it was no longer worth it. At this point, however, I am a bit disgruntled as, at a minimum, I believe Im now on the hook for $90 of additional labor that amounted to nothing more than further expenses. The tech says hell transfer me to the owner. The owner asks what the problem is, I explain my concerns, and he tells me that theyll take care of it and I wont owe them any more money beyond what I had already paid at time of drop off. Fantastic, thats fair. Fast forward to today and my laptop is ready for pickup. I arrive in the store, sign the form stating Ive received my laptop, and head out. I get home just now to find the laptop no longer turns on and the glass cover of the screen isnt glued down on two of the four edges. Obviously, Im not happy. So I call the store back and the tech answers. I tell him my laptop wont turn on now, and Im told Ill need to bring it back in to see if he maybe missed something when he was reassembling it. Clearly something occurred between the day I dropped it off and picked it up since it no longer turns on. Its one thing that the initial issue wasnt resolved, fine, I can deal with that. What I cant abide is receiving my laptop back in a worse condition then it was in when a repair shop took it. Ill be calling the store again tomorrow when they open and will update this review based on what follows.

Edited to add: After complaining manager was very proactive to correct the situation and do what he could to make us happy. I cant say we will return, but Im happy that the management seems to care about their customers and their reputation. Original review: Rude staff, poor communication and bad policies. Took my laptop for a diagnostic and they made me pay $50 up front. I was told it would take "up to 2 days." 2 business days later no one even looked at the computer. And every time I called to check on my laptop the staff was rude and talked to me as if I was wasting their time. We ended up taking the computer to another GREAT place in West Seattle. We demanded a refund, told them how unhappy we were with their service and they STILL were rude. Just stay away and give a better company your time and money.

My son had a laptop with a broken screen and a huge desire to get it fixed ASAP. This shop was easy to talk to, gave us honest estimates of the time and money required to fix the screen and got the job done in less time than promised. We came in late in the day to drop off the laptop. Their technician stayed late that night to troubleshoot the repair and then stayed late to get it done. The next day, my son ran out of time and wasnt going to be able to get to the store before closing. He called and asked them to stay open a few minutes late so he could make it, and they did! They were very gracious about staying late and we had a fantastic experience all the way around. Would definitely recommend West Seattle Computers to any and all.

Im not computer savvy at all. I did know enough, however, to explain to Eric what I had been told my laptop needs (RAM) and what I want to do with it, which is to download podcasts of programs I had previously listened to streaming via a wifi that is no longer available. To manage the commands I figure would need a new wireless mouse. In less than two hours I got the call. It was done. This morning I downloaded my first podcasts for later listening when I will have no internet access. I will take the Mac to West Seattle Computers to see what upgrades are possible. I could not be happier with the service and am glad such a resource is in the neighborhood.

Great local computer and phone repair shop! I got blue screen of death on my laptop, and they fixed it brand new in two days flat. Excellent customer service and communication; I never felt misunderstood or taken advantage of. Pricing is also very fair. For me they charged a standard $45.00 diagnostic fee, and then $135.00 to wipe and reinstall the operating system, drivers, etc. Very satisfied with the quality of work and quick turnaround. I would absolutely recommend these guys to a friend.

I needed a new router and Eric helped me chose the right one. I had purchased my wifi extender from his store four months ago and have been pleased with it. One of his techs came out in August and helped speed up my computer and network. We had been hacked and he was able to determine that my computer was secure but still increased the security. I would definitely recommend this company for equipment and tech support.

I am opening a new office, and needed to buy a sound system for it. I went in to buy a Sonos system, and the owner Eric took a lot of time helping me asses my needs exactly. He took me through every set up so I could hear exactly what each one sounds like so I could make an informed decision. It was the kind of personal care that you dont get at a big box store. Id highly recommend this place for anyone in the area.
