I live in the area and have shopped here often, and invariably each time the checkout cashier is very rude to me. I am a generally happy person who lets things go without a grudge, but this has been ridiculous to the point where I feel that I need to write a review. Literally EVERY time I will be ignored or talked down to. On more than one occasion I have been checking out while the cashier talks ONLY to one of her coworkers while she swipes my items, NEVER even acknowledging me! Overall costumer service SUCKS and the management needs to address these issues by hiring new staff who are actually attentive to the costumers. I dont ask for much, but at least acknowledge my presence. Needless to say I will NOT shop here again. Even though I live nearby I am taking the extra effort to drive to Whole Foods on 65th, where I feel that my business is wanted.

So, three weeks before my wedding last July, I realized it was time to order a bouquet. Okay, past time to order a bouquet, but other plans had fallen through, so, there I was, bouquet-less and too much of a cheapskate (and procrastinator) to go to a florist. Then I had the brainstorm of ordering it from the floral department of a grocery store. The Sand Point store of Metropolitan Market came through with flying colors. I decided on a simple bouquet of red roses with matching boutonnieres. Not only did Metropolitan Market provide the whole shooting match for around a hundred dollars, but they also had multiple shades of red to choose from and worked with me to try to match the style I liked (and didn’t even mind when I changed my mind once or twice). Great service!

Metropolitan Market has one of the best selections of local baked goods, produce, and wine. They also rely on local distributors and are a local company, with administrative offices in the Delridge area. As far as great local companies go, the only comparable grocery store is PCC. They are also union, while Whole Foods isnt union. Definitely worth the extra price. This store is great for foodie cooking too: fancy, imported cheeses, specialty produce items and lots of different ethnic grocery items you might not find at any store. Their deli food is the BOMB for lunch and they have espresso too, and get their coffee beans from Caffe Vita.

If If you ever in the mood to shop somewhere that has the prices of whole foods but isnt fully organic then this is your place. Lets just call it a poor mans whole foods. They have some pretty good prepared food. They also have great produce and a good florist section. I tend to come here if I need to get a specialty type of meat, cheese or wine. But be warned all of that specialty is going to cost you. This certainly isnt one of those places that you come to do all your shopping for the week. Its more if you want to run in and grab as few things or if you have some specific in mind that you cant find at your large chain grocery store.

The floral department did the flowers for my wedding last weekend and they were so beautiful. We changed florists a couple of weeks before the wedding because of poor customer service at the first florist. So, on fairly short notice Metropolitan Market floral department met with my mom and got our flowers ordered. I had a fairly specific look I wanted for the bridal bouquet and it turned out exactly as planned, and the bridesmaid bouquets were pre-made mixed bouquets that the florist ordered and my mom "edited" to help the match the wedding colors (just removing any dark flowers). The price was reasonable too.

Met Market is notable for its bakery, specifically the Cookie. "Whats the big deal about a cookie?" you ask. Its THE Cookie, first of all. Please show it the respect it deserves. Honestly, you just have to eat one to really understand the cult following this cookie garners. Perfectly crisp and golden on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside. It always tastes like it just came out of the oven. I wouldnt buy anything else at MM; it is super expensive.

Cake ALERT!!!!! BUYER BEWARE! All of the MMs have a new bakery vendor. If you have an event on SUNDAY you need to know that cakes are delivered on Friday morning and Monday morning... So your cake for your SUNDAY event (special order or not) was made on Thursday night or early Friday morning, delivered to the store on Friday morning and sold to you on Sunday. So, for your $20-30 you get a THREE DAY OLD CAKE!!!!!

I am always amazed by the selection at this Metropolitan Market. They have an amazing selection of cheeses, meats, beer, special foods (gluten free, vegan, etc), and I am never left disappointed by their friendly staff. They are a tad more expensive than your average grocery store, but their selection, quality and service is head and shoulders above.

The price is high, but the quality is always good. I love the seafood, the cheese, bakery, produce, beverages... just about all of the selection. They do have more affordable and less fancy brands as well, its just hard to buy them next to the pretty ones. Customer service is always excellent and you dont have to wait long for a checker.

I love their amazing coffee selection! They have some of the best roasters in the PNW and lots of the bags are fresh within days of being roasted and clearly dated on the bags! Perfect for those who use fresh beans for ESPRESSO. also the coffee shop within has the best coffee in the area. 10/10 and Im a very picky coffee drinker.

Contrary to another writer on this website, I have found the Metropolitan Market cashiers to be extremely friendly, courteous and professional. I have no idea who the other writer ran into, but my wife and I have been going to MM for over ten years and NEVER have had a bad experience.

While the Met is a costlier place to shop on a day to day basis, it is worth the trip for a) Seawolf bread which arrives daily at 9am b) the decadent, chocolaty salty cookies they peddle warm, c) the super kind staff. Look for specials when trying to be kind to your pocket book.

This market has many items that are difficult to find. I love it! I dont buy staples here because it is pricey for ordinary items but I love it for the unusual products. Wish there were more branches of this great store.

Prices are high but an excellent place to swing through on a bike ride along the Burke-GIlman trail. Grab a couple of deli items and head for Magnuson Park to enjoy the water and the views. A great Seattle day!

Pricy place, but worth it for some epicurian luxeries you cant find at your regular grocers. Usually above average produce and service, but they were out of two items I wanted in my last trip.

Interesting grocery store! Really unique vegetables and other products. Its a little pricey but you can find things that arent sold in normal chain supermarkets.

Ok, cake weirdo.. The rating is for the WHOLE store, which in my opinion is as comprehensive yet selective as a market of its size can be. My go to place

A hidden gem among supermarkets. The food they make there is good. Prices are higher compared to Safeway/QFC, but theres a lot of quality products.
