I already had highlights in my hair but wanted to go platinum blonde. Leslie tried different toners which left my hair orange and then grey. She finally lightened my hair to a degree that was somewhat acceptable but it took THREE different sessions. Needless to say, Leslie FRIED my hair. This process should have been done gradually over time. Not within a two week window. In addition to FRYING my hair, leaving it looking like crinkled hay, she used a RAZOR to cut my hair. I requested a bob haircut with the front longer than the back. As you can see from the picture my "bangs", the ones that are supposed to be longer than the rest of my hair, were chopped off. It was done on both sides. I do not know if Leslie was trying to give me side bangs, but I did not request side bangs. What was she thinking?! Using the razor frayed my already fried and split hair. Additionally, my hair was left uneven and did not even look like the picture I showed her. I do NOT recommend this salon. They lack color formula understanding and common sense. Why would someone cut fried hair with a razor? There is no way to correct a botched haircut. I have to wait at least six months to grow it out. And never will I ever take the chance of going back and risking another botched haircut. A stylist at Tangles had to correct the haircut and it has taken me weeks of expensive, reconstructive shampoo to correct the damage Leslie has done to my hair. Unless you want pink, purple, blue, green or orange hair—look elsewhere. White Unicorn Hair Salon has made a public announcement on their FB page accusing this review was a fake review and that I was another stylist in the area "hating" and "down talking the salon". I dont know Leslie or anyone else on her staff on a personal level. I have only seen them on the occasions I was at the salon having my hair fried and butchered. Although we do have mutual acquaintances, it is unlikely, unless we run into each other on the streets of downtown, that I will ever see these people again. In response to White Unicorns FB post, my field of work is boring and completely opposite of the hairstylist "craft". Leslie said if she doesnt do amazing work she doesnt get paid. Well guess what? I STILL paid $175 for the BOTCHED service I was rendered. This review was not to "bash" a stylist. I am merely heartbroken when I style my hair every day and am reminded of the tragedy that is my hair. Nor is this review fueled by "vile, ill-intent, hatred or envy" for anyone in the salon, as Ive been accused. I assure you that I am not jealous of anyones success as I am an educated woman who is every successful in my field. The only "heavy weight" on my heart is seeing my hair every day and having the constant reminder of the $175 worth of damage done to my hair.

Amazing experience! I have Curly hair and once I find someone I love, I stick with them. We just moved here and my former Curly expert is 12 hours away. After asking around for a recommendation, I left a message for Leslie the owner. What an amazing, lovely, person she is. I cant even say this enough. She offered to work around my schedule to have an appointment. Asked me lots of questions and permission before doing anything. Took a lot of time (which I didnt have, but I know for next time) and meticulously colored and cut my hair. I never leave any salon with hair set the way I like it (I diffuse upside down) but I got compliments anyways! The colors are beautiful and the cut is exactly what I wanted. As with most Curly hair experts, she said to play with it at home and return for a touch up on the cut if a stray curl was out of place. I havent had to! I have been to some Curly hair specialists who would charge me upwards of $200 for the services Leslie provided, especially given the amount of time she spent with me. I was scared to ask for the price to be honest and was surprised it was in line with my former big city Curly Hair specialist. Sometimes Curly experts are pretentious and justify their high charge with some nonsense about special trainings. They also try to sell you products, special towels or hair dryers (all BS). This salon, Leslie, the atmosphere and the prices are not pretentious. Its laid back, funky and fun. Bonus is that you get to support a woman owned and LGBT friendly salon (look them up on Safe in my Chair). Extra bonus: her partner brought her a coffee since it was late afternoon/evening and brought me one for free as well. Just lovely people. GO THERE.

I have been coming to the salon for a little over a year now! Not only are the stylists super personable and fun, they really know what they are doing! I have very thick and coarse dark hair. I had got it all chopped off when I visited April (one of the stylists currently at the White Unicorn) while she was working at another salon. I LOVED the cut, and came back to her for touch ups. Once I discovered the White Unicorn (which was closer to my house) I switched over to Leslie before April switched shops. Leslie has always done such a phenomenal job on my hair. I receive compliments about my hair on a daily basis (and won the superlative for "Best Hair" at my radio station!) She knows how to style hair and gives great advice on how to keep it looking its best. My hair has gone from jet black to silver, purple, blue, and next I want green! Leslie and all her stylists have great color knowledge and will advise you on what is best for your hair and what is realistic. I have recommended all of my friends to this salon! Cuts, natural highlights, balayage, trendy colors, and hair tinsel, the White Unicorn can do it all! All of my friends who have gone here are loyal converts as well.

The ladies at the White Unicorn have always made me feel extremely welcome and have worked some serious magic on my hair. I can trust every single stylist there to take care of me! In the past Ive had a hard time finding salons that will apply fashion colors and at the White Unicorn the women fully embrace everyones individual styles. Its so refreshing to find a salon that makes me feel right at home!

I got my hair done by the owner a few years ago. I was lucky enough to have her do a cut,style, and extension job on my hair. I have never seen a stylist do color this way. She is a genius! Everyone at the salon was polite, friendly and kind. I enjoyed my experience and will be going back next time Im in town!

Great salon! I love looking through their selection of vintage clothes while waiting to get my hair cut. Usually I walk out of there with a few new shirts and a new haircut. Very convenient!
