Ten thousand Villages was probably my favorite store in Burlington. I wont bore you with their mission statement (although I think its great, but you can read about it from more knowledgable sources than I ) I will just tell you why I like this place. From the moment we walked in, we were made welcome. There was a very helpful clerk who was there when we needed her and provided lots of great information, but she never hovered and made us feel watched. There were just tons of cute gift items and jewelry to look at and all at very low prices. I purchased two small items which the clerk lovingly boxed for us. She even printed off information sheets to tell us the whole story behind each one. It doesnt get much better than that. Oh wait... it does, because the items I bought were made by artisans in poor countries and they were paid a fair wage for them.

I am a volunteer for the Burlington Ten Thousand Villages store. Every week I unpack the shipment of items for the store. The products that emerge from those boxes are amazing and inspiring. When one knows who made them and the conditions under which they were made, the level of craftsmanship is to be greatly admired. Therese and Diana are wonderful managers who are very devoted to the mission of this organization. They are the ones who make it all look so inviting. This store is visited by people from all over the world who come in to admire and shop!! Next time you are in Burlington, come into the store and your purchase will make a difference in the lives of those who need it!!!

Really nice gifts at reasonable prices. On top of that, the stock consists of fair-trade imports.
