Decades is the best vintage clothing store Ive ever been in. I recommend it to anyone. They do an excellent job presenting a truly awesome inventory. That said, I would like, also, to respond to one Darrell Brown who has given Decades a one-star rating. Yes, they have a policy of only one child per adult. I completely understand that policy given the value and fragility of many of the items they have on display. I recall that they even raised an eyebrow at me when I entered with my teenage son. To imply, however, that they were unfair when they applied that policy to you, Mister Brown, is comically hypocritical. It would have been unfair if they HADNT fairly applied their policy and if you HADNT been asked to leave. That is how fairness actually works: Its about NOT making exceptions for entitled so-and-sos- regardless of how precious their little angels may in fact be. I would encourage people to go to this place because its unique and well worth seeing. I would also encourage people to treat this place like the museum it is. You wont be able to help having fun once you get there, but please treat the merchandise- and the owners- with respect.

I just happened to notice the store yesterday after the urban flea market. I had no idea that they even existed before that. I am so impressed with their merchandise. From what I saw the prices are reasonable, they have high quality inventory and you get what you pay for. most of us want those perfect vintage items in perfect condition! Decades has that and then some! Some of the reviews are comparing Decades to the DI, there is absolutely no comparison. The inventory that they have at Decades is much nicer and they have a much, much larger selection. I have never seen a larger collection of what I assume is costume jewelry in one place! The collection they have is amazing! As far as the negative reviews about the owners and some of the silly things that were said, such as they hide things, that seems ridiculous! Why would they hide things they are there to sell them? The store cat is a little cutie pie as well. Im pretty sure its going to be my new favorite vintage store. I plan on buying a lot of things! I cant wait to go back!

My wife and I were in SLC for her birthday and she wanted to spend part of her day shopping vintage boutiques and consignment stores. This was the very first stop we made. There were two employees working at the time and not a single "hello" or word otherwise was spoken throughout the 45 minutes we spent there. Literally NOT A SINGLE WORD!!! We were followed from room to room by one of the employees, who was making it painfully obvious she wasnt there to help. Hanging womens clothing on mens racks and swimsuits with ties to make sure we werent stealing is a poor display and horrible business practice. My wife had about $200 worth of clothing picked out; most of which were for her wardrobe, some for a Halloween costume. We put all of it back and left because of the unfriendliness and unwarranted suspicion we received. The worst part is... they were so hip and into themselves, they probably didnt even care.

I am not sure why this store gets such a bad rap for customer service. I have never had a problem with the staff. They are respectful if you are respectful. They have a genuine love for vintage clothing and if you express your love for vintage clothing by following their rules, then its no big deal. They have always helped me find what I am looking for, and if I have a question, they are willing to answer it. I love the selection of clothes they have there. I find unique and clever items of clothing that I wouldnt find anywhere else-- even D.I. Im also too impatient to find anything at D.I. because it takes a lot of time scouring over racks of mothball sweaters and skirts, to no avail. Decades is one of my favorite places to shop for vintage clothing because it is all right there. The prices are pretty reasonable for the most part. I also love the atmosphere of the place, and, of course, the store cat.

Awesome store, much like a museum of Fashions all the way back to the 1890s! If you are looking for authentic vintage clothing. This is definitely the place! Some of the antique items cannot be tried on. Why? Because they are antiques! It doesnt take a genius to realize that they are delicate and that if people try them on over and over again the garment would be ruined. The bad reviews are completely unfounded. This is not a costume shop or the DI where you can take your 5 children in to destroy these well preserved pieces of art, this is for true collectors, mature adults, and respectful individuals, looking for something different that is not made with plastic and made in China. The prices are extremely well priced for the condition and the age. The kitty is super cute too! He greeted me at the door right when I walked in!

Everyone is correct when they say that the owner of Decades is quite a grouch. Hes a terrible snob! I used to go in there ALL the time and each and every time I do I get sheer snubbery! He told me I couldnt wear a dress because it was old and just to look at. Dont tell me what I cant wear! If I buy it Ill do what I please with it! Now I rarely go there. Why have a shop and have a bad attitude towards the ones who keep you open? Anyway, its a bit overpriced on some things too and I dont think he really knows what hes selling. Ive been collecting, researching, selling, repairing and making vintage (repro) clothing and accessories for a bit over a decade now and I really dont appreciate being spoken to like I dont know anything. Get a better attitude and maybe itll be my favourite shop again!

This place is awesome!! I disagree with the reviews for poor service. The human beings that own this store have extremely wonderful taste in clothes and vintage everything. They are there to ensure only high quality stuff gets hung up. They are not there to bring you a new size, help you find that perfect thing- thats Nordstrom. Go there if you want that. Ive seen very disrespectful groups of young people go in to try on funny hats and make a mess of things and Ive seen the owners tell them to knock it off. If you are a douchebag in their store they will let you know, the customer is not always right. If you want to look through a wonderfully curated stock of beautiful vintage goods, go to Decades and get your groove on!!

Four of the finest Christain women from the State of Maryland flew to Salt Lake City just to shop at Decades on May 23rd and 24th. We had a great time and left a large deposit of cash as we left and returned home with some of the most beautiful high quality garments. I have read other reviews and am mighty thankful that we did not have any negative experiences with the staff. We were serviced by very nice, polite and knowledgeable staff (a young lady on the 23rd and tall gentleman on the 24th). Since returning home I have called and left a message of my interest to purchase a garment that I would like to add to my wardrobe. Still waiting for a response! Even called during business hours, no one answers the phone!
