I bought my ring from the Orem, Utah location. John Bowen was fantastic. I shopped every Jewelry store in Utah County and most of them in Salt Lake county. Sierra West was the very last store I visited. I had found a ring I liked a lot at another Jewelry store, and I was close to buying it, but I was just checking out the last few stores I hadnt been in yet just in case. I had a long list of wants in a ring, and I was fairly certain I would not be able to fit all of them into one ring. I wanted something in rose gold (not a lot of options out of the case in most stores), with trillion side stones (very rare), with a pear shaped center stone (also pretty rare), and in an older more vintage style. Several other Jewelers had told me they could customize something for me like I wanted, but most of them said it would be between 3-6 weeks, and the costs I was quoted were more than I had planned. Sierra West has an onsite Jeweler, and John was very knowledgable. I gave John my "wish list" of requirements, and I was very pleasantly surprised by what he suggested with one of the existing settings. I loved the setting overall, but it didnt have trillion accent stones, and it wasnt set up for a pear shaped center stone. However, it was in rose gold, and it was a vintage style. John took the setting and a few minutes later he came back with how they could customize the setting to swap out the setting for one that would accept a pear shape center stone, and how theyd beautifully modify the setting for the trillions. I was pretty excited about it already, but I was sure my heart would sink when he told me the cost (if youll recall Id been to most Jewelry stores in Utah and Salt Lake county), but the price was extremely fair. Normally I work really hard to get good pricing on things, but the pricing John offered me was fantastic so I saw no reason to even offer anything less. Then, my next question was timing. I wanted to propose pretty soon, and I asked John if maybe I could buy the ring as is and then have it customized how I wanted. But, John said that he could have it completely customized how I wanted it in only two days! I had a couple of friends along to help me with my decision. Once they saw what was planned, and agreed that it fit my intended recipient I told John he had a deal. Sierra West was fantastic throughout the entire purchase process, and Im looking forward to picking up the finished product. If anything changes Ill post back an updated review, but based on my initial experience, I feel very confident that I can highly recommend Sierra West in Orem, and especially John Bowen.

I would give them a 4 star on customer service, but a 2 star for the actual quality of the jewelry. There are things I really liked about Sierra West that made me go with them in the first place- like that they let me choose out my own diamond and showed me what the reflection of my diamond looked like and showed me their whole gem studio thing, and the customer service was great- it always has been- but I think the jeweler(s) they have there arent very good. I had a custom ring made, and I felt like it looked homemade. It wasnt symmetrical and when I had my band and engagement ring soldered together they didnt line up at all. I have taken it back 5 or 6 times in the 2 years Ive had it asking them to fix different things, and every time I give it to them to fix one thing, they give it back to me with another problem. And all the problems Ive had with my ring seem like they happened just because the jeweler wasnt very thorough or careful, or paying enough attention to detail. For example, I had to send my diamond back to the gem institution because the jeweler didnt take enough precautions with my clarity enhanced diamond when he soldered it. The heat got too close to it, making the clarity enhancement come out. When they got the fixed diamond back (it was gone for 3 weeks) and they gave my ring to me, the diamond was loose. I took it back the next day to have them fix it, and when they gave it back to me that time, there were dents in the prongs. They gave it back to the jeweler to have them sanded out, but like I said, all of those things could have been prevented if the jeweler would have just paid more attention. I would give them a 4 star on customer service, but the actual quality of the jewelry isnt good. When it comes down to it, I would much rather have a beautiful ring than a good experience with a sales person. The jewelry is what matters, and with my experience there, the skill of the jewelers isnt where it should be. If youre wanting to buy a ring off their sales floor, I would think about going there, just because the customer service has always been good, but if youre wanting a custom ring, I would go elsewhere. Overall they left a bad taste in my mouth and I wont be going back to Sierra West for my future jewelry purchases.

Ive had nothing but the best experiences here. My wife and I bought a ring that was a little too large for her knowing that we would need to resize it and we took it here. Pricing was very fair and the workmanship was even better. We squared the bottom of her ring to keep it from sliding around and twisting on her finger and I highly recommend it to anyone! It was excellent quality and matched perfectly. Then, today my wife and I went in with my wedding ring that we had gotten online through a pretty good vendor. The day of our wedding the ring could hardly fit on my finger and I had to forcefully put it on. I noticed my fingers throbbing throughout the day and had to switch to a backup ring until we could bring it in to get looked at. Unfortunately, The ring could not be resized because of the type of materials which was disappointing. We ended up going back inside the store after a quick conversation outside wanting to look for a replacement ring, and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable and did not pressure us into getting a ring at that very moment. The sales person offered us 50% off because we had gotten my wifes ring resized there, something they usually reserve for those who have purchased another ring there before. We were very excited and impressed about the service and ring and ended up buying it right then. Plus, the ring ended up being cheaper price and higher quality than the one we had originally bought online. Ive had nothing but the best experiences from the shop and I would recommend it up-and-down to any friends or anyone else!

Twenty-five years ago my husband shopped every jewelry store in the area, researching and gathering information to make an educated choice in our jeweler. In the end he decided on Sierra West. They educated my husband in diamonds, cut, color, clarity, karats of gold, the best way to set a diamond, when to use white gold, when to use platinum, etc. With a loop in hand he selected the diamond for my ring. The ring was of high quality, and we have been VERY happy with the results. Now, 25 years later, I decided I wanted a white gold band rather than the yellow gold. Living out of state, I assumed I couldnt use Sierra West. I made phone calls to jewelers nearby who either told me I would just have to purchase a new wedding set or that it would cost $1,000. I finally called Sierra West and told them of my plight. I worked with Alyssa, and she was amazing! She had me send in pictures of the ring. Their goldsmith gave me a bid to completely make a perfect replica of my ring (using white instead of yellow gold) for only $350. That included keeping my yellow gold, a warranty, and an annual rhodium plating for life! I sent it to them and he was able to finish it in 2 weeks time, as promised. I love it even more than the original!! They were VERY fair with us. They followed through. The quality is excellent! And Alyssa was great to work with! Thank you Sierra West!
