I have been a regular customer of this store for the last 3 years. I have nothing but good things to say. Although their credit policy has changed, I agree with the store. It makes sense, in this economy, to have some amount of cash coming in with each sale. For me, if I really want a book, I do not mind paying a small amount for the book if I have credit. I mean, really! The books are already half price or less, and with credit for books I have sold back, I can even pay less! So it is a win/win for me. The employees are very knowledgeable and always have shown the utmost amount of friendliness and helpfulness towards me. I have always been extremely satisfied at this store. To the reviewer that talked of cheaper books at Wal-Mart. Really? You are going to compare a multi-billion dollar corporation that uses (essentially) slave labor to a local business? How does that even make sense? Of course they can sell their books cheaper. But even so, your comparison and complaint is absolutely ridiculous. In addition, does Wal-Mart buy your books back when you are finished? I think not. So before slamming a local business you should really check your facts, and use common sense when speaking about economics. Thank you Once & Again for being around for so long. You have outlasted almost all of the bookstores in the area, and that is ONLY because of the changes you have made to keep up with the times and economy of today. Very wise. I will always be a customer since I am an avid reader and you guys always have such a good selection. Sorry for the long post, but I could not allow the small amount of posts to characterize this store in a negative light. Like I said, I have always had great experiences at this store and will be a life long customer!

I dont normally write reviews on any business, but I had a terrible experience in this book store. I had sold several books to them for the amount of 35 dollars IN STORE CREDIT. Well they didnt tell me before I made the deal that you can only use half of store credit on any purchase. I have never heard of this. So basically they said my store credit wasnt good unless I still wanted to pay out of pocket. When I had called back and asked them to reverse my sale because I was going to go to half price books and get paid cash and be able to use all of it there, they basically said Im screwed out of The books and I couldnt just give them back their useless store credit. Just so whoever made this policy knows, thats not how store credit works. You would think that a fair trade would be 10 good recently new books for 2 books would be that, but no. They want to purchase something from you and then not even let you use the "money" they gave you for the trade. Its such a ripoff! They stole from me! And what happened to the customer is always right? when I asked if they had a certain book in stock they just told me its five rows down. How about helping your customers instead of just sitting behind the counter. I mean, this is the closest used book store to me and they arent even used book store prices. I wouldnt recommend this store to ANYONE! Ruined my entire day. Really shows you how much customer service is worth. Now Im going to drive 23 miles to the nearest half price books that I use to go to because I get treated like an actual customer!!!!

The staff is very rude and unfriendly. I would never recommend this place to anyone. This is a comment based on the owners response: I had a terrible experience at this store. I brought my children to the store to pick out a book. Unfortunately, my 2 year old was pulling books off the shelf beside me. I had every intention of putting every single book back where it came from, but the lady did not give me a chance and told me to leave the books on the ground. It would take her a long time to put the books back and I should watch my kids better. I left the store in tears. My children did not mess up her store in any way and I would have put each book back in its exact spot. I fully support local businesses which is why I wanted to share a special experience with my children at a used bookstore. I wrote the business a personal email and the owner did not showcase any understanding to my situation. Instead she continued to blame me for my children. I have read other comments and I see that others have had similar experiences. The owner has tried to discredit our comments, but I am here telling you that she does not put her customers first.

The store moved a few doors down since I last went there but same kind faces and friendly attitudes. I normally make it over there Christmas, my birthday and then my daughter birthday. On a whim we went in today, and I must say I love the "Take a book on a blind date." The only problem I have here is trying to explain to my daughter why she cant just but every book and take them home. haha As for some of these other reviews here is what I have to say. I have traded books here before and it only makes sense that they still need to bring money in so the trade only can cover half of the cost. They cant just stay open trading your books for mine. How would they keep the lights like that man? As for the children, if your child does not know how to treat a puppy and is rough with it at a pet shop would you get mad at the worker who said something? no you should be upset with your child. Same thing for the books. If your child can not treat books with respect dont bring them in a store full of them. Or just step up your parenting skills and be a better parents.

This book store is a ripe off, and the employees are rude! I have been to this book store twice, because it is close to my house. My first time there I was purchasing about 11 books. I asked if I could leave my books at the counter while I continued shopping, I was told that my books would be in their way. I left the store upset and went to another book where I found all the same books for less than what I was going to pay for them at Once and Again. During my second visit to the store, I found both books I was looking for, they were brand new and I purchased them. One week later while I was at Walmart, I found the same two books almost $15 dollars cheaper. I will never return to this store and will be sure to inform others of my bad experiences there.

Love this place. Vey relaxed atmosphere, super friendly and helpful staff. Yes, its disappointing when they dont need all of the books you take it in, and yes, the policy change was a tough pill to swallow, but I would much rather have to deal with these inconveniences than the place go out of business and be left without a second-hand bookstore. Im not comparing this to online bookstores or big-box bookstores. I am reviewing this as a second-hand bookstore (which is not entirely accurate, as they purchase a fairly large number of new copies - mainly the popular titles and required school readings).
