Finding a tattooist can be an incredibly difficult challenge because it requires a ton of trust with most likely a complete stranger and a certain level of comfort. When I decided to get new ink after 20 years, I began to visit my local walk-in shops and found them to be a little intimidating which honestly is no reflection on the shop itself but the very nature of that kind of shop with clients looking for something small and cheap. Many times it’s a rash decision for them and they’re difficult clients that really don’t spend money. Imagine being an artist and being asked to tattoo “No Regerts” twenty times a day. You’d be in a bad mood too. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Rebel Muse, a shop with a unique vibe and incredible artists – definitely not your normal tattoo shop. Located in Lewisville, it’s positioned in an unassuming strip center that I’m sure locals pass by every day and have no clue it’s even there. Walking through the door, you’re not going to find flash drawings for you to choose from, but a welcoming waiting area with some seriously crazy artwork. More than likely you’ll be greeted by Mike, the office manage, who is personable and has a beard that would make Billy Gibbons jealous. In short, Rebel Muse is a laid back spot with incredibly talented artists where you can ask questions and feel comfortable choosing them. Speaking of the artists, Rebel Muse is loaded with outstanding folks. My personal artist is Liz Cook who is very well known and a wait list longer than time itself. Cody Hennings can bust out cover-ups and American Traditional like a boss; Cookie Cook kicks out awesome ink and Australian which automatically makes him cool; Haylie Erin is just ridiculous, as well as Robert Lucky and James Corgill. They’re latest artist, Adam is turning out pieces that are as clean as soap that many experienced tattooers couldn’t pull off. Basically if you want realism, traditional, fine line, a cover-up, permanent makeup or just a unique piece of art, you’d be hard pressed to find a better shop. There isn’t an attitude at all with the exception of kicking out killer tattoos. I’ve been there four times now with each session lasting at least seven hours and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. Do yourself a favor and break away from the standard tattoo factories and stop by Rebel Muse in Lewisville, TX for an experience that will leave you wanting more.

Most unprofessional experience Ive ever had with a tattoo shop. Adam cancelled on my half sleeve 11 pm the night before I was supposed to get it done. I took the day off work to get it done and he doesnt have the decency to give me any sort of heads up. Then to add insult to injury he only offers to take a $100 off the tattoo for the short notice. I missed out on more money by taking the day off work then hes "discounting" me. His excuse was he had to much going on and didnt draw up my design. Thats bad business and makes your entire shop look terrible. Im out money from not working and a tattoo i waited 2 months for. Im extremely pissed about the situation and will not recommend you guys to anybody. My wife was going to get her tattoo done through you guys but will no longer be going to you. Update: spoke with David himself and I can see where his artist gets his professionalism from. He didnt want to make the situation right because I had already posted a negative review on here and on yelp. Thats just petty and had you actually worked to rectify the situation in the first place I wouldve been more than happy to delete my posts and give you a good review. He says hes not in charge of the artists at his own shop so he cant get me in anywhere. If I was the owner I wouldve taken it upon myself to get the client in with someone or I wouldve found time to do the tattoo myself in order to make the client happy and rectify the situation. The unwillingness to make the situation right or even provide half way decent customer service speaks volume to the shop itself. I was simply told Im SOL. Hopefully you can rest easy conducting business the way you do, but I will make sure people are aware of how you handle business.

I made the switch to Rebel Muse Tattoo from the shop I had been frequenting because James made the move and I followed him. It takes almost half an hour more to drive out to Lewisville than where I was going but it is a worthwhile jaunt to be seen by the most talented tattoo artist that I know. James has done six out of the eleven tattoos that I have and each one of them is perfect. His line work is impeccable and his attention to detail is meticulous. The most recent work he did for me was the cover of an album that means a lot to me so I wanted the tattoo to be a dead on representation of the music and James nailed it. There must be hundreds of small individual lines in this piece and James put in each one. He is committed to his craft and wants his customers to be satisfied with each piece. He is also one of the most laid back people on the planet and is super easy to work with. We have had a few conversations about how I want a piece to look or where I want it placed for which he gave me his input and I am glad to say I listened to him on each occasion and am thankful that I did. He is a professional artist and knows what he is doing and how a tattoo is supposed to look. For those who are looking to get their first tattoo and are worried about how painful it might be James has a wicked soft touch. I have been inked by five different artists and James is without a doubt the easiest to sit for. I plan on coming back for more.

Not all they are chalked up to be. The artist showed me where he got his inspiration after I was unhappy with it. Not much originality or creativity in work. Customer service was poor. They care more about their "bookings and schedule and process" (or lack of) than the satisfaction of their customer. The communication process is last minute, rushed on the day of ( when the design is shown to you for the first time, just before tattooing) and you are told ahead of time that only a couple minor changes are allowed. I felt kind of stuck because I had already paid a non-refundable deposit. My mistake that I ever went ahead with it. Walk away if you dont like their art. They use their so-called process of last-minute design-reveal with only couple minor changes and non-refundable deposit as a way to minimize creative effort and maximize profits. After a lot of word play, I was told they dont owe me any changes because I had signed off on the original design and there were no scratches. Im sure there are better studios, artists, and "processes". Keep looking.

I searched for a tattoo artist to complete my first tattoo for over three years - both in Atlanta, GA and Dallas, TX. When I came across James Corgills work online, I knew I had found the perfect tattoo artist! I reached out to Corgill via email, and within 24 hours, he responded. We set up a consultation a few days later, and within the following week, Corgill had created a custom mandala design for me. It took two sessions to complete the tattoo, but it was well worth it! Corgill did an amazing job - my mandala is stunning, and I am so happy that I waited for the right tattoo artist. Corgills lines are precise, and his colors are bold and bright. My tattoo is truly a piece of art. Corgill was also a really awesome person in general. He made feel comfortable throughout the tattoo process and was very accommodating to my need for breaks. He was professional, respectful, laid-back, and fun - the perfect combination for a tattoo artist. I highly recommend Corgill as a tattoo artist - he is extremely talented, and you wont be disappointed!
