I couldnt be more pissed or disappointed at the way I was treated at this establishment tonight. For context, I have been frequenting, patronizing, and bragging about Salt & Tyme for quite a while now. I have frequently said, "Its awesome that we have a local butcher shop." or "I love how it feels so "East Side in there" [Note: I live on the East Side close to Salt & Tyme] or told friends, "You should buy your brisket at Salt & Tyme and support local". So, I go by there tonight, walk in, ask if I can order a couple of menu items to go. The lady working there looks at me expressionless and says, "We only plate our food". I said something like that I was sorry but could she make an exception because my wife and I have a new-born baby and my wife really cannot leave the house because of care-taking of the new-born and she asked me to pick up food here. The lady said that I would have to ask the boss/manager. He came over, I explained my situation again and he said "We only plate our food" and then preceded to turn away from me and start doing something else (like cleaning some silverware or typing into their point of sale system. I wish they had considered making an exception to their policy but that it not why Im compelled to publish this review. It was their attitude in saying "No". No, Im so sorry. No, I wish we could. No, thank you for thinking of us. No attempt to be friendly. Just rude, arrogant indifference. They acted like my willingness to eat their food at my house was an affront to their food. [Im curious, do they give to-go boxes for people that dont finish a meal that was "plated" at their establishment.] Anyway, Im disappointed that a place that I have bragged about so much acted like such jerks. I think karma will get this place soon enough. There are lots of great places to go in Austin and lots of warm, friendly, wonderful experiences to be had at retail places and restaurants. Why would Austin put up with this place? No more Salt & Tyme for me; Ill buy my meat elsewhere.

Yall! Ok, so I almost didnt even want to post this because Im afraid it will get super popular and there will be 2 hour wait times, but I just have to. We would like to think that we are brunch connoisseurs, so we have been to many Austin restaurants for brunch after church. This place pretty much knocks the socks off of all those other places (if you are a meat eater of course). We like to try something different every week, but we have already been here twice. First off the meat is delicious and fresh! Secondly, whoever there chef is deserves an award because the flavors and combos are always so perfect. We have tried the biscuits and gravy, the pork hash, the steak and eggs, and the porchop, not to mention the pancakes and french toast. Every.Single.Item=Delicious. No, I dont work for them or even know the owners, just want to give honor where its due. Do yourself a favor and try the Sunday brunch.

After finding out there was a 45 minute wait at our original brunch place we called Salt and Time. To our delight we were told there was not wait. We head over excited to get our brunch on. The place is tiny with no more than 5 tables and bar seating. Lucky for us we were able to get the only open table. The menu is small but offers a good variety. They iced coffee is delish! It was buttery and looks like a dark beer. I tried the hash and braised pork which was quite delicious; however, my complaint was that the wait was far too long. We waited an hour or so for our meals. Considering there are almost no patrons in the restaurant we did not expect such a long wait. If youre willing to wait and have 3 hours to space, I would say try this place. A positive note was our server she was attentive without being intrusive.

Ive been a fan of S&T for a long time from back when they did mostly parties and catering jobs. Really talented butchers and cooks - they know their meat. At their new shop they have some great beers on draft and by-bottle - Zoe is $3 during happy hour. The $5 Odd Bit special that my friend and I had during dinner was delish. Steak, juicy and bloody of course, was very very good, one of the best that Ive had in fact. And huge -really- portions. The staff and kitchen are very friendly, and didnt get cranky at all when friend and I walked in 20 minutes or so before closing. We joked around with them, and in-fact they seemed genuinely happy to have us (either that, or great at acting). The prices are fair, maybe better than, and they can count on my return to the brick-and-mortar!

I stumbled across this place looking for a new place to try and my infatuation with burgers lead me to a butcher that also served a burger as a great option. I tried the Salumi plate with their cheese of the day. The cheese of the day was really good but nothing on the plate stood out except the banana peppers and pickled apples. I ordered my burger and they said it came medium rare however when I got the burger I think it was more the traditional medium well (only a little pink). The meat tasted great, the fries were good and the ketchup with the fries was good. The ambience of the place is pretty cool but there is not a lot of seating so if its busy there may be a bit of a wait. This is a butcher so if you cant handle raw meat hanging in the window you may not like this place.

Stepped in for a late dinner on Friday night and were treated like kings. Not a complaint but just a diner recc: if you head in late be aware this is a limited menu restaurant and some items might sell out. Otherwise the food was pretty much flawless and straight-forward v over-concepted trendy nonsense. The kitchens mastery of the appropriate food temps for proteins was impressive (their medium rare moos but it was fantastic). Best tartare Ive had in a while, matched with service that provided perfect pairings & made us feel like regulars. Well be back and vocal abt how great this place is. Ps: a perfect spot for drinks and a board thats well-stocked with meats, pates and luscious cheeses.

Sunday Brunch: I walked in as a single and waited for about 15 minutes to get seated - even though there were seats open. After sitting for 20-25 minutes without having a single person approach me, I reached my limit and flagged down a waiter. I informed him I was interested in placing a food order but that I was frustrated and didnt want to wait any longer so I left. Sunday Brunch Conclusion: I admit that the butcher aspect of the business is great but if you want to serve food then you need to do it right. First and foremost focus on customer service. As a neighbor to this business, I want them to get it right I hope they can correct the issues with food service.

This is a really cool, cute little spot. I came here for lunch and really enjoyed it. I had their bologna sandwich and soup of the day. Before you think Im crazy it is a deli so they make the Bologna themselves and its incredible. They bitter and grill the bread and put some sort of spread on it which makes it absolutely incredible. They had a good beer selection there too but wasnt able to partake at lunch. Id love to come back and buy some of their meats because it appears to be primarily a deli. Highly recommend for a casual sandwich spot. PS parking is super easy here.
