Went to Buybacks on 8/3/16 with my daughter. I was looking at the overpriced video games and she was looking at the movies. She ended up finding a movie she liked and we decided to check out. The cashier took her money, and then went to get her disc for the empty case. After about 5-10 minutes of them looking through filing cabinets and crap laid out all over the counter, we were told they didnt have the movie. I said ok (I was ready to go) I will just take a refund. Heres where it gets good! I was told that I could not get a cash refund, that their policy was that I could either receive the amount spent as "Credit or a Giftcard". I explained that I understand their policy, but I gave them money and never even received a item. I wasnt returning anything, I never received anything. This is when I was rudely told that "This is policy, only a manager can give you a refund and one isnt here now! Im not going to lose my job! So we ended up getting the cash we gave them for a item they didnt have, on a giftcard. We ended up going back about 30 minutes later (after I cooled down a little) so my daughter could spend her card. She found another movie, waited in line, just to find out that they didnt have that movie either. Just because you see the case at this place, doesnt mean they have it. I am not completely sure they even have a filing system in place judging by the appearence of the counter. Also, the person I dealt with at this location (I will not post his name) had horrible customer service. But most of all I wanted to warn people of this absurd "policy" that if you hand them cash for something, you will never see it again. It will be in credit or giftcard form. I will never go back unless I wake up one day and feel like paying 4 or 5 times eBay prices for a video game or movie while getting treated like crap the whole time Im checking out.

I went to your Parkersburg WV location recently first only for a gaming system for my children...and found later that the music section had quite a few selections from "my generation". As my kids twittered and tweeted around me...I was momentarily caught up in their excitement of buying a PS 4. Having a few of my selected CDs in my hand...I walked to the register to have the employee get the game system for me while I waited to pay. Since the gaming system and extra controller was quite expensive...I didnt notice the price of the CDs in my hand...most of which fell in the 1.99 to 6.99 range. Imagine my shock and sick feeling when I got home and looked over my receipt...thinking it was a mistake when one "really oldie" CD with 8 songs (some of which I didnt even recognize) was 29.99!! I called the store and told the fellow who answered the phone that I thought this must have been a misprint (the real price being 2.99). NOPE. That horrible CD...with 8 songs on it...was 29.99. I have paid less money for a 3 disc set...new...with relevant songs that people have actually heard. Not 30 bucks at a resale shop. I am just letting you know...I will never buy (back) anything from your store again. I will gladly pay full price for all my childrens games and music from now on. At a reputable retail store...with employees who give a darn about people not getting totally and thoroughly ripped off. While I know this comes up as my sons name...I want everyone to know that this review is written entirely by me...his mother. Concerned consumer...angry mother...fighting for the people...and the right to buy quality products at reasonable prices. Beverly A Casto P,S Wouldnt even give it one star...but in order to publish...it made me.

This place is usually hit or miss with finding good deals on games. Its always a miss in their customer service and attitude. Any quality game is usually marked way, way up. For example, right now they have Portal 2 (a $15- $20 game) priced at $99.99. Not a mistake either because its on 2 copies. Theyre basically just hoping a sucker comes along. You really are better off shopping on ebay and skipping this place altogether. Also, if you finally get home after buying several games from Buybacks and discover many of them dont work, dont be shocked. This happens often. Dont worry though...you have a whole 7 days to return them for STORE CREDIT only. You can use this store credit to roll the dice again. Also, recently a game I purchased from them was unreadable. I brought it back to their store, not for a refund, but just to have it buffed. The employee, I believe who was the manager, then questioned that I was telling the truth by pointing out that their price sticker was not on the case. After explaining to him that I remove all stickers from my games, he then went on to point out their was no sticker residue either...seriously. All over a 15 second buffing. First rule of costomer service guys, dont question your customers honesty and integrity...especially not in front of 10 other customers. I have spent hundreds of dollars here in the past but they will not get another dime of mine. Seriously Buybacks...this is how a place goes out of business...just like your other, recently closed, Austin location.

Taking over an old Blockbuster location has its advantages. This Buybacks location has plenty of space inside so it is easier to navigate through the used movies and games. What was once the New Release wall at BBV is now the Blu-ray/HD-DVD wall. There are a surprising amount of recent titles that end up on this wall. Usually it is tough to find a newer title within two weeks of its release date, but this Buybacks location will surprise you. Heading into the interior, there are tons of DVDs to choose from. Again, this location has surprised me with some off the wall titles that I never would have expected to see at a used movie/video game place. The game section is a decent size and they do sell used systems. The prices are pretty good and if you are looking to trade movies/games in, they are on par with what you would expect a company to pay for your items. Sometime you get a decent amount, sometimes it is pennies on the dollar. That just depends on your title. The employees always seem busy, but are still personable if you are checking out or just have a question.

Similar to Movie Exchange franchise in Houston. Large variety of movies, mini series, video games, and miscellaneous music. This location gets 2 stars because of the unwelcoming staff. Absolute customer satisfaction is there lowest priority. It has been a very young staff whom is more occupied with socializing with eachother with all my visits. Honestly its the cheap movies and large selection of dvds not customer service that keeps me returning but it would be a more pleasant experience if the staff would get more interactive with there customers(or at least pretend). Overall, needs a change of additude and a manager A.S.A.P.

I found no better deal on used gaming equipment in town. They readily take back malfunctioning equipment and they even threw in a few games when I bought a console! I was surprised by the enthusiastic energy from the clerks who really just wanted to talk to you about video games and help you find what you needed. Ive been back twice since I discovered this place, and any time I decide to go look for an older used game Ill make the trip. Thanks so much for doing it right! Oh and it seems to be in the hollowed out shell of an old Blockbuster, which is just hilarious.
