I want to take issue with Robert Hoosers review. The furniture upstairs at the General Store is made locally. A few years ago, I bought a beautiful, oak quilt rack and was able to speak to the local craftsman. You may have seen a, "Made in China" label on some of the kitchen gadgets being sold in the General Store, but the vast majority of home decorating items are hand-crafted items. The Muddy Pond area is loaded with craftsman of all kinds. Some friends of ours were able to find someone to repair and restore an antique saddle originally made in Saudi Arabia, who did a beautiful job. The people of Muddy Pond are authentic. They are Mennonite - not Amish. It would be helpful to everyone if you would actually gather the facts before firing off an unfair and inaccurate review.

Ive been here multiple times, excellent selection of food, kitchen utensils and furniture. Everything is fresh, reasonable cost, and a vast variety. They valve a deli prep counter, good food. Service and staff courteous and willing to help you find any item you have overlooked, just ask if you dont see it. I missed the honey twice walking through, there was a kind lady directed me right to it. They take cash or credit cards. This trip I ventured next door. DONT OVERLOOK THE LEATHER GOODS STORE NEXT DOOR! I COMMENTED ON THEIR SITE ALSO.

My wife grew up nearby. This place has LOTS of unique items that make it worth the drive for folks who dont live in that community. Every time we stop in or drive by, we see license plates from Knoxville, Nashville, Chattanooga, Kentucky, and beyond! They have lots of bulk foods and baking/canning needs, to a deli with meats and cheeses, to crafts and a small selection of hardware! Many locally made products, including sorghum molasses!

I have a beautiful, handmade bentwood rocker. The slats in the seat are curved perfectly to the contour of our bodies. I have had it for many years and it is still like new. So well made. The jams, jellies, pickles and even candles are wonderful. Dont miss the bakery nearby. How blessed we are to have such a community near enough to visit in Tennessee.

This place may have become more modern by their standards but it is definitely not a tourist trap. Local furniture is available up stairs as well as some of the same grocery goods that were stocked thirty years ago. The leather shop next door is a fantastic find for anyone that owns a horse or just wants a new belt.

Customer service was outstanding! Many different items you just cant buy in a regular grocery store. Lunch meats are superb. The original home items upstairs are authentic and craftmanship well done. There is a train I need to go purchase for my first grandbaby born 2 weeks ago. Hell love it.

Tourist trap. I saw many items made in China. All of the furniture for sale had been mass produced. I saw no signs of Amish people in this area other than a church. The popcorn we bought was stale. Save your gas and go somewhere else.

Love this place, anything you ever wanted to cook with, noodles, jams, pickles, ect... plus the upstairs has hand made furniture. They added a deli meat section since my visit in 2012 and it is very nice.. This Visit was 7/2013.
