Note: More updates to this review coming, but in fairness, over the six months prior to March 2017 they have made significant strides to improve this store. Im upgrading it from a two to a three. Previous review (mid 2016): If you are able, drive a few miles south on Gallatin and go to the Kroger in Inglewood. This location in Madison is almost always understaffed. If you go in after 9 pm odds are about 50/50 you will have to stand in line for 15+ minutes (like I did last night again) to check out via self checkouts, only half of which will be open. Very unlikely a human checker will be available. The store is also simply too small. It feels congested, especially at the front on both sides of the checkouts. Expanded selection is great, but when space is borrowed from the check out area you have to have enough checkers working to avoid lines. If there are more than two people with carts in a line its very difficult to get through while shopping. I used to think this location was subpar because of local management, but its been consistently mediocre to bad for the 20 years Ive been visiting it. At this point I believe its because Kroger corporate looks at the demographic of Madison and concludes its not worth the investment to have an adequately staffed store here. Too bad.

Madison Prices high compared to other grocers, AND other Kroger locations in Nashville. Even Kroger Plus Card prices are consistently too high. Area can be unpleasant after dark. I always get approached by a stranger asking for money. This may be why they do not stay open 24 hours anymore. They do have one or more visible, uniformed security personel on hand at all times. Fair selection of unique and fresh groceries, but a selection below the standard I expect from Kroger. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Bottom line is prices are prohibitively high, especially with an Aldi across one street of their corner, and a Walmart Grocer across the other. Aldi across the street is great. The Walmart is poorly merchandised, kind of janky, and has indifferent and inadequate staff, but their prices are still better.

Went to go get some beer after midnight and walked into what must be one of the most depressing places Gallatin Rd. has to offer. The self checkout machine wasnt responding so I called an attendant. Something between an ogre and troll waddled over and just pounded the machine until it started to work again. They should probably try hiring humans or handing out free anti depressants to the late night shift. Between the smell of life wasted and the generally shittiness that clouds the place like a heavy fog, Im surprised no one who works there hasnt blown their brains out in the dairy section.

Not my favorite Kroger location, but it is the closest to me. The parking lot is usually a nightmare and there are sometime homeless nearby asking for money. My wife usually doesnt like coming to this location alone at night, but Ive never personally had any problems. It would help if there was a better security presence here. Well usually go out of our way to the Hermitage or Inglewood location if we want to go to Kroger.

this Kroger is my go-to grocery store as I live 3 miles away. recently theyve been renovating and upgrading the produce and deli meat departments. Last weekend I saw they introduced a sushi bar! I think the staff try very hard to help their customers out. They cant help it that homeless folks sometime pan-handle in the parking lot. One thing though, I will be happy when theyre able to fix up the bathrooms!

I just went to get my prescriptions and a few things. I really do not like this particular Kroger. Most of the employees do not even speak and you cant find some things at this Kroger like some of the others. The employees are not to helpful. The pharmacy gives good service. I feel this Kroger is a little hood. They asked my opinion and thats what I think.❗❗❗❗

Filthy and disgusting. The employees smoke right outside the front entrance. So, have to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke to get inside the store and while leaving. There seems to be a trend with the East Nashville Kroger system as in they are totally unprepared for dinner. No rotisserie chickens at this location either. Pretty disappointed.

They have madebig changes. The meat dept is killer, great that they r moving away from ALL pre packaged meat n giving more of a fresh selection. They gave Changed alot of pricing errors, Kroger has made prices alot more reasonable. Real happy bout that, hell even the security lady is cool. She always got a kind word. It just works...

I guess 9 PM shopping means seeing the underbelly of the store. Things were everywhere and items were limited in stock. Im visiting Nashville and so seeing a Kroger available just like the ones in Texas, I expected a certain amount of order and cleanliness. That was not the situation.

Food shopping is fine because I can use self check out. Customer service is more trouble than help. I am at the counter now so I should probably wait for the review but I have been waiting for 20 minutes, so nothing better to do.

Too many flies around the deli area and little to no condiments were available. I mean there was a massive amount of dead as well as living flies on sandwiches, potato salad, etc. It really grossed me and my son out!

This area is considered a bad neighborhood. Kroger does a great job keeping the store clan and organized, given the people who visit this location. That being said, the people who visit are rude.

Do not visit this Kroger. The produce selection was awful! It had mold and fungus growing on the zucchini. Unacceptabke that they would even present and attempt to sell it to customers.

Its small and not well stocked, but i prefer going here as opposed to dealing with the riff raff of inglewood kroger. Its much easier to get in and out of too.

I wish this Kroger had a real deli and bakery. I wont buy from the bakery anymore because too many times I got home to find the product moldy inside.
