I have never left a store in tears before but I guess there is a first time for everything. My husband and I came in to make a sizable purchase and were treated like second class citizens from the beginning. After being passed over for help for over 20 minutes we finally got someone to help us. Then we got to watch as another employee berated the sales associate helping us when he asked her for help. Which is something I have NEVER seen. A manager then came over to apologize and offered us a small discount (which we didnt ask for). Then the GM Paul came over and took the discount back stating that if he gave us the discount there store would lose $22 and the vendor would pull their product from the store. Which isnt even true. Then he continued to say that if we had come in and had a good experience we would have paid full price anyway so he didnt see why we were upset. Then he started implying that we only complained to take advantage of the store, which made me even more upset. How is us waiting for 20 minutes, then watching your employees treat each other like crap right in front of us, then offering one price, and then taking it away, us taking advantage of you?!?! Then he told my husband thet if he saw the item for a better price somewhere else that he should have just purchased it there. So we said fine we as we went leave thats when Paul the GM started yelling have a nice night across the store at us over and over again as we walked away in the most sarcastic tone Ive ever heard. I was basically bullied by an adult today. Words can not even express the disgust I have over what just heppend. We will NEVER be returning to this store again. Id drive an hour out of my way and spend more money to go somewhere where Im treated like an intelligent human being who actually has feelings and not witness the systematic breakdown of an entire stores management team.

Two experiences here. First time in, stood at the counter for 5 minutes and wasnt acknowledged - left. Second experience was yesterday, this Black Friday. Gander mountain followed me into the restroom, and then around the store. Then called the police and told them I was shoplifting. After emptying my pockets for the Horry county officer, I was shown to be innocent. They didnt say they saw me steal anything, they simply suspected me because they heard jingling. They said they thought I took Ammo. Funny, as the jingling was from a very visible key ring hanging from my belt loop with keys to my 4 retail stores, restaurant, two houses, two warehouses, and 5 vehicles worth over a quarter of a million dollars. I drove to gander mountain in a $100,000.00 car only to be treated like a criminal by their minimum wage staff. Pathetic. The manager on duty - knowing she was in the wrong would only say "Sorry" when I told her how insulted and embarrassed I was. No attempts to make it right or even apologize sincerely. This store is a second rate Bass Pro shop counterfeit, and is in need of an entirely new management team. You dont treat paying customers like criminals or profile like that - especially with no reason at all! Jingling keys? Ill never step foot in a gander mountain again. Contacting my lawyer Monday to discuss the ignorance I was subjected to. My honest advice, stay away - several other businesses with better customer service (as in they wont call the police on you for shopping with them) and much less expensive products. Seriously retail here was 20-30% higher than similar stores. Avoid at all costs.

Very mixed experience here. Some of the employees were not only enthusiastic and helpful, but also seemed to love their job. While other employees seemed to be like robots and simply saying what they were programmed to.. First off, I am an 01 FFL. This means Im a licensed firearms dealer. I was attempting to buy a gun and they wanted to charge me a $75 fee because I was using my license to buy from them! I talked to the manager who really did not seem to give a crap.. He referred to himself as "the boss"(also to another frustrated customer I saw that came up shortly after I did) and said he would not waive the $75 fee and that if I wanted the gun I had to go through the background check process.. Well he got his way, I had a gift card for the gun so I jumped through the hoops(even though Im exempt due to having a federal firearms license) and got the gun. However that will be the only purchase I ever make there.. like all Gander mountains the place is WAY overpriced and service like in all of them seems to be at the extremes.. Either great or terrible. The customer is ALWAYS right but I felt like I was being told "bend over or f off".

Worst customer service of my life! I am actually surprised that the store is still open. I went in on a Saturday and tried on a pair of water boots. After thinking about it, I wanted to go ahead and purchase them. Went back the next day, Sunday, and after running a sales associate down I asked the lady for a size 10 in womans. The lady looked at me and claimed they didnt carry boots in womans that large. That offended me in everyway! So after telling her I tried on a size 10 in womans the day before at the same store, she looks at me and stated that she knew they didnt carry them but she would go check. Sure enough, she came back with the boots! She hands me them with a smirk and said that it was the first time she had seen a womans water boot that large in stock there. Again, I am offended! I did buy the boots but ONLY because I couldnt find them online and I really wanted them. But, I can guarantee I will NEVER buy anything from this store again.

Checked website to see if they had handgun rugs for long term storage. They showed them in their product list but no way to tell online if they had any in the store. Tried calling for over an hour to check. Phone was busy a dozen times. Surely they can afford multiple phone lines for a store like this. Never could get through so I made the 30 minute drive. I asked sales associate if they had the handgun rugs shown online in stock. He was nice but didnt have a clue what I was talking about so I had to describe it to him and no, they didnt have them in stock. If you work in a store like this you should at least be knowledgeable of products. Huge parking lot had maybe 5 vehicles in it. Saw one person other than employees in the store. After reading the reviews, I understand why no one was here.

Today I went in to gander mtn. With the intentions of purchasing a hand gun. I waited around the gun counter for 37 mins (yes I timed it)and never got helped not even an "hello" or "we will be with you soon". So I walked around the store and returned to the gun counter again with no acknowledgment. There was a take a number stand there but not in use . However on my way out I was greeted by an associate saying " The exit is over here". I normally would not write a review for such things but this is my second time in this store with horrible customer service. Unfortunately I took my business elsewhere (bass pro) and will continue to do so from now on.
