I am pretty sure the 5 star reviews were posted by employees of this location. The computers here are brutally overpriced, and I can explain why. The government gives out vouchers for a "free" computer to certain people on government assistance (welfare). These vouchers max out at around $200 - give or take. You will notice that all the machines for sale here are right about at that price range. In my professional opinion, they are not ever worth this price. This is shameful and shameless exploitation, while I understand they want to get the maximum amount they can, that does not make it morally acceptable. In addition, anything donated with "valuable" parts is scavenged and taken by the rude, worthless, failure employees who have an undeserved attitude of entitlement. These employees act as if you are somehow stupid, or are wasting their time if you try to ask them any questions. In short, I strongly suggest that you do not donate any computer to this place as they are not on the up and up. Give it to a church, boys and girls club, or anywhere else before you give it to them.

Excellent place, some prices could come down a bit, but they will power up and test anything in question... They offer anything from $20 computers good enough to serve as office, student, or essentially productivity use.. Then they have the latter end of the scale, going up in increments of $30, 40, 50, 70, 100, 200, 300, 350... And not too much is beyond that. The good news is that the $350 will get you a very capable laptop with on average a core i3, i5, or i7... Of course they offer lesser models too, with Celerons and some lower AMD options... But they really do cover a wide spread of needs... Then there are the monitors, keyboards, peripherals of all sorts from many different eras. I do wish there was more historical computing goodies to be found, and perhaps a software section... I was surprised by the utter lack of software of any sort... But it is one heck of a fun place if youre a computer type of person. I could spend hours there, just perusing all the bits and pieces, goodies and systems, etc... And I have.

Im happy that this place exists. The prices can be high for the age of the components and computers, but they do offer holiday specials and discounts quite frequently. The truth is, I can find some of the parts her cheaper new, but I can also find parts, cables, computers, and accessories, here that are no longer for sale elsewhere. If you know what you are doing, a simply trip here can help you patch up that old computer and keep it running. I like to think of it as the junkyard for computer parts and components. Also they have a full service tech station that in all reality, is a benefit to the Pittsburgh community at large. Not everyone can afford (or needs) a brand new Mac computer, but if you really want one, they will sell you a cleaned up mac from 2-5 years ago. This place is truly a godsend for computer repairs.

We are a tax preparation service with multiple locations throughout Pittsburgh. All of our computers have come from here. In five years, we had ONE failed computer, and that was promptly replaced with no problem whatsoever. The computers HAVE to work in our business, and work they do! Flawlessly!! Also I have used them for hard to find parts on my own personal computers and have yet to be disappointed. Monitors, switches, cables.....if you are looking for it, chances are they got it. Even got a screen for my laptop here, and they showed me how to put it in right there! There might be cheaper guys out there, but for me and my business, I am going here first! The fact they have hours seven days a week and the convenient location is a huge plus.

I recently stopped by to purchase a couple of 60GB IDE hard drives ($5 each) for a laptop reconfiguration project. Also, picked up an omni direction wireless antenna for $2. I recently installed a WIFI system for an average size church and am also the network administrator for that church. I observed many enterprise level appliances available at the Goodwill store. There is a huge selection of switches including a Linksys 24 port 10/100 for only $9.95. I believe I could configure an affordable multi-user small office system with the components available in the store. These are not Best Buy prices. There were two (2) Xbox game consoles at really affordable prices. This place has become my favorite technology store.

The computer section is a gem of a find. Too bad I live so far from there. Everything is well organized, the prices are reasonable and the folks knowledgeable and friendly. Word of advice- if you are buying something- DO NOT SET IT DOWN ANY WHERE!!! I lost a set of speakers as the were big and I couldnt walk around with them so I set them on the Repair counter until I finished browsing. Well, they were gone. Someone bought them right out from under me. -Lol and oh well. Guess I didnt need them after all. Ill stop by here anytime Im in the area.

I wanted to buy a Mac Pro and seen it in the computer room they wouldnt sell it to me they told me it wasnt for sale they acted like it was for them so I intended to go over a dell server and they wouldnt sell that to me they seem to treat me like I cant buy something because there is something wrong with my money I felt like I couldnt buy something there I was willing to spend money there as always I do on other good wills just for some reason I was held to buy nothing unless they forced something else on me than what I wanted

I dont know what got into "T asdf" to make that horrible, slanderous review, but as a longtime computer nerd (with NO ties to Goodwill), this is beyond a doubt the cheapest place in the area to buy a spare mouse, perfectly fine used monitor, HDMI cable, specialty cable, or even cards, external equipment, and used computers and laptops. The staff is fairly knowledgeable, although of course you should know the part youre looking for (exactly) before going, so you dont go home with almost-right.

I recommended my friend to this Goodwill Computer Works, and it was wonderful. The sales people were very nice, and explained everything in detail. She got an excellent deal on a HP elite book. It only cost her $249 with a 1 year warranty!!! The same computer were used for sale on amazon for at least $500 bucks. This place is awesome, and I will continue to buy my own electronics there, as well as recommend it to my friends and family.

The place to go if you need ANYTHING in the way of computer parts, accessories, or entire units. Prices are as low as you would expect, the people are knowledgeable, and they have it all. Power supplies, cables, motherboards, a "Parts Laptop" pile of laptops 4 feet high, and dozens of monitors and CPUs available at all times. Forget on-line shopping for this stuff, make the trip to Lawrenceville. Super easy to find and park.
