Traded two overflowing totes of paperbacks and hardbacks containing items that had only hit the shelves within the past eight months. All my trade-in books were bought new (Amazon and B&N) and kept in pristine condition (even the dust covers). I got less than $10. I used the time they needed to "evaluate and price my books" to walk back to the areas where the books I had just brought in were shelved and found four examples for the exact titles (one of the titles by Douglas Preston, two by Lincoln Childs and a Kim Harrison). Each of their used versions were priced at $10 and higher and were not in as good condition as mine. Basically, they paid me less than a dollar per book and then marked them up for resale over $10 per book. Do the math... 33 cents for each individual trade-in (averaged against the number I traded and the price they gave me) subtracted from an average 2nd and Charles shelf price of $11.99 and you get a gross profit of $11.66. Do yourself a favor... go through the headache of having a yard-sale and get more for your books. Giving your precious reading materials to 2nd and Charles is like throwing them into the trash. Without dropping names... two employees told me pretty much the same thing.

hi concerned customer, i recently found out that corporate put in a new mandate that no longer allows for unwanted video games or consoles to be put in free bins or given away or sold, but to be trashed, with the years cruising along these games and consolevare becoming fewer and further between, just tossing them in the trash like lastnights spaghetti dinner is unecceptable, therw are millioks of video game collectors and repair men that would glady take them off your hands even for a price, please reconsider this catastrophy between gamestop and you guys the younger generation will nvr get to experience these wonderful games.. one suggestion list them on ebay as an as is system believe someone will buy them even games or put them in a bin in the store labeled defective games and consoles again ppl will buy them, most games and console just need a good cleaning and will work good as new or even if not mayb a 5 dollar part. i understand that you might not jave the time to deal with fixing and cleaning them but theres are many many many ppl that do so just please dont throw away video games or consoles thanku

if you have children stay away from there comic rack I found a comic Airboy from image it has full frontal male nudity threesomes and sex I told the store about it three times they did nothing to keep to a poor parent from accidentally buying what was in the eighties a kid friendly book . I am not against freedom of speech I just an adult finding him self having to explain to my daughter about two men having sex with 2 pre-operation transsexuals in toylet stall . they did not have to remove it but they could have put behind there shelfs another thing i have hear is they push there special ordered book over regular a few people I know tried to subscribe to there subscription so the could get the new Batman only to forced to pay 10 bucks for the Second and Charles special cover. the last thing I will say I dont like is the fact that Marvel Comics advertised loudly they would no longer be selling to big retailers like books a million so what does books a million it keeps selling Marvel only under there subsidiary

Nerd/geek/bookworm/music lover/movie junkie/gamer/collector paradise. I go almost every day or even multiple times a day (not a joke). Attentive, friendly employees and very helpful, even if its your third time there in the same day. Never had a bad experience. Prices are fair, sometimes slightly overpriced but also sometimes VERY underpriced compared to eBay and current values. Youll find something cool, find something youll buy, something you really want and come back for (it wont be there when you come back, trust me) and something you cant afford. Oh yeah did I mention the have bins of free stuff every day? If you watch movies, play video games (and board games!), read books, listen to music, not from the area, never herd of 2nd and Charles or have time to kill. Go. Now. Find yourself or lose yourself.

I usually come for the vinyl selection - some might be a little overpriced (but really not that bad at all), but I have no problem overlooking that with their selection, organization, cleanliness & everything else they have to offer. Staff is always super friendly & helpful. Their selection of books is also outstanding - its easy to get lost in this store looking through everything!

A GREAT place for books, comic books, manga, graphic novels, CDs, vinyl, board games, video games, role-playing games, card games, musical instruments, DVDs, and Bluerays, at awesome used prices. They also sell new stuff. AND they buy back old stuff to resell from you.

Awful. Never going back. Annoying and rude people. I went in with a good attitude and left unhappy. Advertisement is misleading. My husband and I were very upset. Never ever going back. This place doesnt even deserve one star.

A Wonderland of all that is music, books and general memorabilia. This is also an awesome place if youre thinking of picking up a musical talent, they have a plethora of used instruments that are good quality!

I love 2nd and Charles. record players, vinyl, books, blu ray discs, comics, dvds, ipads, musical instruments, games so much to see. The only thing that would make it better would be if they sold coffee!

Its a nice place, incredible selection of really any kind of media you might enjoy. However, the prices are less than great and there seems to be an uncomfortable upcharge on anything even slightly rare.

The store is great for browsing but misery for trading items in. Yes, they are a business and worry about profit, but getting offered $3 for an out of print movie (Man Who Fell to Earth) is insulting.

You can find almost anything if you look hard enough. Prices are a little high, but they also give decent value for your trades. Great place to just poke around.
