In April 2016 I bought a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback from Saldutti. First impressions of the place was "This seems like a quaint dealership." The Subaru was $2000 and it had normal Subaru rust and a few squeaks here and there. No big deal. My father picked up a 2006 Saab 9-7X which was really nice and we traded my 1998 Volvo V70 AWD in for both of these vehicles. Boy did we get taken to the cleaners. My Subaru was a mechanical and electrical nightmare, the Saab was too overpriced. The night I brought my Subaru home, the engine overheated so bad that it pushed ALL of the coolant out. I had to walk to the nearest service station, which was about three miles, get some coolant, and keep refilling it just to get home. I called the next business day to talk to Tony and tell him the car overheated. He told me "Oh, just replace the water pump." Mind you, when I purchased this vehicle, he told me that the timing belt and headgaskets were done, so reluctantly I believed it. I was also told that this vehicle was purchased from NorthPenn Imports, which is a dealer whom I knew of and worked with before when I worked at Ciocca. I replaced the timing belt, radiator, coolant hoses, rollers, thermostat and tensioner in hopes of absolving the overheating problem. No. It still overheated. I called the dealership that Saldutti bought my Subaru from to ask "Hey, did you do any work to this Subaru." The gentleman I talked to said these exact words: "No. That Subaru needed a lot of work, so we wholesaled it. Why? Where did you get it from?" So I told him and he just told me that I should of done my homework before going to Saldutti. At this point I was furious, so I tore out the engine, took the heads off and upon taking the heads off, the headgaskets completely separated. Ive done tons of headgaskets, but I have never seen them separate entirely or have the crease marks like these did. This told me these were ORIGINAL OR REUSED. I also noticed that the "squeaking" I heard originally when I bought the vehicle was from the throw out bearing. So I replaced that, the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate just because I had the engine out and it was easy to get to all of that. I had to purchase new heads for my engine because these were so warped that they couldnt get machined down. I cleaned the block surface and prepped it for the new heads, which I converted this engine to a EJ25D block with EJ22E heads for reliability. I had Cometic Gaskets make me headgaskets for this block and head combination. So far this is what was replaced: heads, headgaskets, radiator, timing belt, water pump, rollers, tensioner, clutch, throw out bearing, pressure plate, flywheel, AND head bolts. I put everything back in the vehicle and it ran like an absolute charmer. Good as new. I drove it for about a week and we had a bad rain storm. Water came through the hatch, not because of the seal, but because there were rust holes where the tag lights were. I couldnt remove it, so I had to replace the tailgate AND re-wire the harness where water was sitting on the harness. Two days later, the cluster went. So I replaced the cluster. One week afterwards, the airbag light came on, so I replaced the airbag. The SAME day I replaced the steering wheel and airbag, the radio completely went, so I replaced that as well. After ALL of that, the car was almost perfect except the rust, which came into play once the rear brake lines blew out. I only put 1500mi. on the newly rebuilt engine, so I threw in the towel. I sold this car as a parts car in October for $400 because thats all it was worth to me. The underside was a mess prior to me buying it, but I failed to look at that before purchasing it. In summary, do your homework before buying something. I know there have been a lot of people who have had a positive experience buying from Saldutti, but unfortunately I was not one of them.

My husband, my son and I went in to look at a vehicle that was listed for $1,000. The vehicle was, lets just say, not physically appealing. But we were looking in a price range where youre not getting a mint condition vehicle. So we get the keys, sit in the car which smelled horribly, had duct tape marks from duct tape that used to hold up the glove box and also on the drivers side window (which was listed as "not working") and then wouldnt start. The salesperson called someone to jump it, but at that point we said "no thank you". We then test drove a 14 year old veh with 183k miles on it listed for $3k. This vehicle was much more physically appealing, but also had a funk to it. My husband drove it. We decided against it and left. My husband realized they never gave him his license back so he went in to get it back. At this point there is a man in the office with the salesperson who was helping us. The man says to my husband "why did you lie to my salesperson" and my husband, who at this point is stunned says " I dont know what you mean" the man says "you told her that car rode rough and it doesnt. we took it out after you left and it doesnt ride rough" my husband said "well in my opinion it did. when I hit the gas I could tell there was some sort of leak due to the reaction of the vehicle" and the guy said " but why did you lie to my salesperson? It doesnt run rough" now if my husband says "in my opinion" then who is this guy to say that my husbands opinion is a lie? As he was walking out the door the guy says "Id like to take you out in that car" and my husband (who is a bit of a wise guy) says "are you hitting on me" and the guys response is "no youre too hairy" by the way - my husband is bald. Now if you are a true business man and an honest person this is NOT how you respond to someone. If he would have said to my husband "can you tell me why you thought it ran rough?" instead of accusing him of lying this review would have been typed totally different. My suggestion is that if you are going to look at a vehicle at this location, please be careful. I wouldnt trust someone who is insulting to a potential customer.

I purchased a 2003 BMW x5 with 197k miles for 4,500.00. After I left i stopped for gas and discovered the brake lights werent working so i went to pep boys and replaced the light it still didnt work. Then after driving back to his lot the car started overheating and smoked up. At that point it was no longer drive able. While waiting for a tow the police came to check that everyone was OK and i told them what happened and they said that is not surprising and suggested filing a complaint with the district justice. I had the car taken back to the lot and the next day they said it was fixed but not even moving the car just starting it began to overheat. I tried to resolve it with Mario civilly but all he sees is money and has no soul. I am a single mother and can not afford high cost repairs. I spoke to his son that day Tony and he said take it to your mechanic and its not my problem. I had it taken to a BMW repair shop who is very trustworthy unlike Tony who said it needs a new engine and that Tony when they got it they did a quick fix to get it to run at least out of their lot and covered the problem in the coolant with gold stuff. I had asked them to take the car back and give me the money so now i have to take further action instead of dealing with this civilly. NEVER BUY A CAR HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT. MARIO AND TONY I HOPE YOU CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING WHAT YOU DID. I GUESS TRUST AND HONESTY DOESNT WORK WITH THEM. HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO A SINGLE MOTHER WHEN YOU KNEW THE SITUATION. AND DURING TEST DRIVING IT MARIO WOULD ONLY ALLOW ME TO DRIVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK BUT I WAS NAIVE AND DIDNT THINK ANYTHING OF IT. NOW I HAVE A CAR THAT DOESNT EVEN DRIVE. YES THEY DO HAVE A LOT OF VARIETY BECAUSE ALL OF THEM ARE "JUNK". THE INSPECTION WAS NEW BUT YOU HAD IT EXEMPT BECAUSE YOU KNEW IT WOULD NEVER PASS WITH YOUR "QUICK FIX". YOU REFUSED TO LOOK AT IT A THIRD TIME TONY SAID TAKE IT OUT OF MY LOT REMEMBER.
