I wasnt happy with the customer service and care I was getting from my regular optometrist, so I decided to try the Eye Studio when it was time for my annual eye exam. The wait for an appointment was a few weeks out but they put me on their cancellation list and called me within a few days to say they had an opening the following week. I saw Dr. Kim who did a thorough exam, explained the purpose of each test she did, and was patient with my questions. Dr. Kim noticed some alarming irregularities with my vision and referred me to a specialist at another practice so that I could have a corneal exam done (The Eye Studio had the machine to do the exam however it wasnt working...it was unclear if this was due to a machine malfunction or the structure of my eye socket). She personally called the specialist and was able to get me an appointment for the next day. After getting the cornea exam my records were faxed back to Dr. Kims office and she called me within 2 hours (it was her day off) to inform me that I had a progressive eye condition that would require treatment (potentially surgery). She responded to my follow up questions over the phone and via text throughout the next few days (even though she was out of the office), called my insurance company to see what procedures would be covered, and was quick to write me a referral to see another cornea specialist so I could get a second opinion. Ive never received such amazing and attentive care from a medical practitioner and I highly recommend the Eye Studio.

This is by far the best place Ive every been to for eye exams and for getting my eyeglass prescription filled. Heres why: Dr. Tsai and Dr. Thomas (both have examined my eyes) are VERY thorough, extremely competent and knowledgeable, plus theyre just plain nice people -- warm, friendly, unhurried, good sense of humor. The staff and facility make you feel good the moment you walk in -- stylish, bright, cheerful... this applies to both people and place. The selection of frames is phenomenal -- something for everyone. (check out the 141 Eyewear -- great product & fantastic concept for community service). Best of all is the office staff. Every last person there is a gem. Ive dealt mostly with Shu-Chu who, in my opinion, is the absolute best for help with getting your frames & lenses adjusted perfectly. Plus, Shu-Chu is marvelously creative when it comes to getting the perfect lens profile and shape for your frames and your particular needs and preferences. She came up with solutions for my eyeglass needs that I would never have dreamed possible. Shu-Chu is kind, patient, diligent and a delight to deal with.

I am very particular about who I let work with concerning my vision. As a child I had "lazy eye." They used to send home pamphlets every year at school for all the kids, our teachers would talk about it. Apparently in the 70s Lazy Eye was a plague that swept through children on a frequent basis. What happened was there something in the water? I never hear about "Lazy Eye" anymore? The standard method of treatment involved gross stuff you dont want to hear about, but let us understand that I am very aware of things around my eyes and am a bit particular about who I see about them. Dr. Tsai is one of the best optometrists Ive worked with. She set me up with glasses that made me look sexier, slimmer, and increased my business by 20%. (Approx) She was able to field my rather in depth questions, she was respectful of my concerns and made good recommendations after really listening to me. Her staff is always polite, professional and helpful. I take my children to her for yearly check ups and have been very happy with all the work Ive had with her.

Dr. Kim was incredibly rude and crass. I asked not to be dilated because I was due to attend class after my appt. She suggested the imaging technology and I declined because of the associated fee, and asked to come back to have the dilation later (or at my next yearly exam since I had my eyes dilated less than a year ago.) She told me I had no alternative, and would be charged if I came in at a different time. I KNOW that dilating is not necessary, and as a patient, I am entitled to decline treatment and procedures. Dr. Kim was completely rude when she addressed this issue with me, and I felt she wouldnt even consider an alternative and was disrespectful in the way she addressed me. The glasses selection was terrible and overpriced. I was completely disappointed in my entire experience and the misleading 4.9 Google rating. The front desk staff were also socially inept and I felt completely unwelcome the moment I walked in. I will not be returning.

My husband and I have been with The Eye Studio for the last 2 years and have seen both Dr. Tsai and Dr. Kim. We have had nothing but excellent and professional care from them and their office staff. They are thorough with their examinations and their recommendations for eye care have been very beneficial. My husband purchased a new pair of glasses last year (his first new pair in 10 years!) and he loves them. When I was having trouble with my astigmatism lens, they got me into the clinic quickly to help me fix the problem. Their office is located in the Pearl District and I love their space, modern and comfortable, just like their selection of frames. One piece of advice: definitely book your annual appointment in advance (perhaps 2 months) to get the time that works with your schedule, especially if youre not able to get time off as in my case.

I was looking to use some money in an end of year health account to purchase some glasses. My regular doctor was booked until April. Called The Eye Studio to to see if they could squeeze me. Unfortunantly they were booked, but promised to give me a call if they had a patient cancel. They are conveniently located just up the street from where I work so it would be easy for me to get there a few minutes. I recieved a call about a week later in the later for an appointment the next morning. I ended up going for the appointment. The appointment started with a wonderful cup of coffee, then on to a thorough eye examination, followed by a relaxing no pressure preview of some frames. All and all a wonderful experience that was well paced, thorough and relaxing. Just cannot imagine going back to my previous doctor.

Ive been a client for about 1.5 years. Last week I had a follow up appointment; during that time they had some sort of scheduling conflict and it made my appointment about 30 minutes late. They were all very apologetic, including Dr. Tsai, but what really made a difference was when I checked out to leave they presented me with a Starbucks gift card. I originally chose The Eye Studio because they had great reviews and carried Tom Ford eyewear. They have the latest in technology and are genius at fitting glasses, but last week really sealed the deal for me. How many doctors ever apologize for being late and then (without stating before hand) do something to make up for the error?
