We have traveled here a couple times from Grants Pass. The deli was good and the produce selections were great. I thought the drive was worth it. Well I was so wrong. I am just appalled at the way employees treat their customers/us. Most employees at this Ashland co-op are so rude and disrespectful. (With the exception of a guy and girl in the produce) Looks can say a thousand words and even if they just tried to say "hello" or "are you finding everything ok?" or anything... Maybe that would make things better. But instead we get such nasty looks without a word. Then a couple employees followed us around. This one particular guy/employee, just stood there, starting at us, doing nothing but starting at us! Like we are going to steal something. When we were in the bulk section an employee kept coming to the sink area to wash his hands and look at us threw the mirror like 5 times. Ridiculous! I was honestly so shocked at this behaviour, and now that Ive left Im just angry. Very upset. Maybe because we dont look like hippies and fit in with the "normal" crowd there we get discriminated at?????? Just unacceptable. Very disgusted that Ive even spent any money there, we will never return it was a waste of our time, and money. No more. In the 2 trips we made we spent $627.84. Never again! Businesses like this do not deserve our money!!!! So to everyone out there thinking of going, if you are not a caucasian, a hippy or blend in with the "normal" crowd you will be discriminated, disrespected, looked down on, given nasty looks, and made to feel so out of place. If you dont mind that they go right on ahead or to see what Im talking about put it to the test and go and see for yourself. ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!

My husband and I had been coming to Ashland for several years now, and Food Co-op was one of our favoraite places to shop and eat- nice people, great choise of organic foods, the great juice bar and the buffet where we ate our lunches. My every day routine was to come to the juice bar early in the morning for a glass of my favorite juice. It was a wonderful beginning of the day until our last visit. When I came to have my favorite glass of juice this morning (May 17, 2012), the young woman in the juice bar refused to make me juice I ordered - beats, carrots, and orangeI ordered in equal equal proportions. She said this ratio of beats wont be good for my heath. I told her thats what I had always been ordering here for several years. She refused to give me my juice and instead made me slightly redish orange juice which is bad for my stomach because of high acidity. I came home sick and very disappointed. My day was ruined. Id like to be able to go back, but Im so frastrated with co-op now.

This is the most expensive Co-Op Ive ever been into in the country. Jeeze the prices are high. I know the cost of living in Ashland is higher than nearby communities but this store is SO MUCH more expensive for the same, equivalent items at other local organic/natural food stores. Theres also not a lot of "real" food here. The meat department basically doesnt exist (just dont go here for your dinner shopping if youre not a vegetarian, OK?). Its very small, but it IS nice theres a grocery store so close to downtown to pick-up little things in a pinch. Id never do all my shopping here however. I dont think I could; that is, I dont think they have enough stuff. The deli is good though, and the breakfast options from the deli are pretty great. The deli actually darn-near takes-up 25% of the store.

Unpleasant visit to this co op with Rude Snobby customer service I felt out of place and very uneasy right from the start. I also made the drive from Grants Pass hearing such high reviews but was disappointed across the whole board. With an abundance of employees there just seemed to be a lack of customer service. You would expect a bit more attentiveness from a store such as this, with the exception of one guy in produce it was horrible. I felt very out of place and with myself being a partner in a local business I was very dissatisfied with my visit! I will definitely take my business elsewhere in the future and will not be back to this store again!

I have shopped the Ashland Coop as a guest, and am a member of the Medford Coop. Was a member of Portland area coops for many years. I have endured the astronomical prices because I value the coop plan, but Ashlands coop has been very unwise in hiring outside union busters to crush the employees desire to unionize. This is "skin deep" progressiveness. Some of the Ashland members have expressed considerable upset to me over these actions, and some are now considering canceling their memberships and a boycott of the Ashland Coop. I hope it doesnt come to that, but the hypocrisy of management has been jaw-dropping.

Not only are your prices absolutely criminal and ridiculous, but theyre exclusively offered to a consumer base that has somehow guilted themselves into liking the abuse! I just happened to be by there and needed a snack. $20. Later and only a handful of items to show for it, and I have some deli employee treating me like a transient leach because my $7 dollar chicken burrito (which is mostly cabbage and Only heat will fix its ungodly blandness) was a "Grab and Go" item, and if I wanted it hot I should have bought it from the exalted few within the confines of the deli walls itself!

The Ashland Food Coop is the paradise of natural foods shopping in the Pacific Northwest. I was astounded by the beautiful selection of produce when I moved here 2 years ago. Staff is terrific -- friendly and always helpful and knowledgeable. This is the local agora -- the place to meet friends and people watch. Be careful in the parking lot. It is tight. Just last week, the Co-op placed a staff person outside in the lot to assist with parking. After my recent fender bender, I was gratified to see this. This is the place to go if you want quality fast food. Deli is great.

For a small town, this is an amazing co-op. Very good produce section. good bulk, great bulk teas, and nice staff and customer service. The new produce manager is fantastic and will go out of his way to help you! Unfortunately some of his staff are not - some of the new ones are cold and almost bordering on rude. The only downside to this place is a very crowded, small parking lot. The outdoor eating area can be downright gross - have found not only cigarette butts but dog poop right near the atrium. Would be great if they had daily cleaning of this area!

Meh. Hit or miss if youll get helpful or friendly staff. I try to only get things I cant get at Shop n Cart because the pricing is pricey at the Coop. Customers can be unpleasant too, pushy, pretentious, and aggressive. Overall its just not a pleasant experience. I will go for specialty items or if I want to treat myself to a raw dessert. I think if they moved to a larger location it would help relieve some of the tension you feel when shopping. It feels like Im in NYC rush hour traffic trying to negotiate moving around the store.
