(4.5 stars... google doesnt allow it) I recently bought a mini-van from South Pacific. Aaron Owens was the salesman that assisted me that day. He was friendly and courteous and probably had to take out a loan to pay for the minutes I burned off his phone before I even arrived on site. He understands that a car will choose the person and a person will choose the car. He did his due diligence to up-sell me but didnt persist when it was clear I wasnt interested. In other words.... NOT PUSHY! (we learned how to store the fold-n-go seats and operate the child safety locks together lol) The financial department must practice witch-craft because they were veritable WIZARDS when it came to getting me the needed loan. Matt McCormick (finance manager) is hilarious and fun to shoot the proverbial s**t with!! John Bracken is a focused and efficient sales manager and has a great sense of humor. The most painless way to get through the financial/loan process is to BE HONEST and let them know what is comfortable and will work for you!! Trust me.... they will get it done!!! (as long as YOU are realistic... remember... youre buying a car) For the sake of honesty and to prevent this review from sounding like a trumped-up love fest, I must confess that there were times in the process when I felt abandoned but that could have been due to them having other things to do. There was also a slight mix-up in the paper work but when we caught it they made it right. They also need to get the vending machine fixed (I know... petty but were being honest here right?) All-in-all purchasing a vehicle from South Pacific was one of the smoothest car-buying transactions/experiences that I have had in my 44 years roaming this planet. They found me a great percentage rate on the loan and let me find the car I needed that would fit my budget. PS: I recommend the service plan option (warranty).... it is reasonably priced and the more that are purchased the lower the cost becomes and thats good for everyone (basic economics). Having a decent service warranty on a used vehicle is a winner all day long...... I am 99.9 percent sure that we will be back out at South Pacific to upgrade the car next tax season ;) Mike

SO DISGUSTED WITH OUR EXPERIENCE. WE WERE IGNORED AND DISRESPECTED WITHIN 10 MINUTES. Thats got to be a record. Went there to look at/ buy a explorer xlt that was just what I wanted. Husband came to make sure it would fit him comfortably (63" and broad through the shoulders doesnt fit in every vehicle comfortably). We met John on our way to the xlt my husband, shook his hand and told him to talk to me as he didnt like salesman, I was the decision maker and I was the one the vehicle was for. John took this as a challenge evidently. He COMPLETELY ignored me- the stated buyer as I was attempting to tell him what I was looking for and continued to pester my husband about what he does, why he didnt like salesman he must be one then, and other nonsense. I asked him THREE SEPERATE TIMES, to talk to me not him. My husband was walking ten feet in front of us. John continued to ignore me. He then said my husband had a problem thinking he was better than him. NO, you have a problem with your own self esteem if you react that way. The problem is JOHN not listening to either myself or my husbands MULTIPLE requests. Then he brought up his Vietnam service out of the blue, as hes ACTUALLY raising his voice to us. Were a patriotic family raised by verterans of the Korean and Vietnam wars. We honor and appreciate our vets including him. I dont know if he was trying to gain favor or excuse his horrible behavior. It had nothing to do with anything we were talking about. Then he said lets start over like men and introduced himself again to my husband, not me the buyer. SO DISGUSTED WITH THIS DEALERSHIP. OUR WISHES WERE IGNORED MULTIPLE TIMES INSIDE the 10 minutes we were on the lot. I said thats it were leaving and taking our money elsewhere. John said he didnt care and it didnt matter to him. Clearly not. John heres a crazy idea, Women are people and should be treated with respect. Try not being a chauvinistic jerk itll garner more sales.

I just wanted to warn folks who may be considering doing business with South Pacific Auto Sales over the Internet. I purchased a vehicle from them at the end of 2011. Salesman was friendly, communicative, and helpful throughout the process; however, I was not informed that the vehicle had a missing/lost title. In fact, upon asking I was told the opposite - that they had a clear, non salvage title in hand. After several weeks of emails requesting the title, I receive an envelope in regular old first class mail containing several original Oregon State bills-of-sale transferring ownership of the vehicle around between several people, and a lien release. There wasnt even a note, instructions... nothing. Upon contacting South Pacifics general manager, Cody Sell, about this mishap, I was informed that he "doesnt handle title issues". He referred me to their title clerk, who did not even have the courtesy to return my call that day. I was forced to navigate Oregon DMV myself in order to straighten this out, and eventually (after two months) received an actual OR Certificate of Title - just so that I could hand it over to my States DMV to get the car registered here. Amidst all of this, I did file a BBB complaint, after which they contacted me and reimbursed the ~$90 in Oregon MVD fees that it cost to get the paperwork straightened out. The only silver lining in all of this is that the car is a blast! (not that they had anything to do with that). It was low-cost, classic vehicle - and luckily not a car I was dependent upon actually driving given this whole mess. If you are reading this and considering purchasing a car from South Pacific Auto over the Internet, you would do yourself a huge favor by backing slowly away. They have demonstrated a lack of credibility and accountability, and its simply not worth your risk to engage in business with them.

My faith in good and honest car mechanics was restored by the guys at the South Pacific Auto Sales. Compassion I had received from them relaxed me as I knew these guys would do everything possible to help me. My story with South Pacific Auto Sales started in 2013, when I bought my 2011 Ford Escape SUV from them and Matt McCormick a sales manager personally helped me to choose the car that would fit my needs. Some time had passed and I had moved from Albany to Corvallis. When my service engine light went on, I went to a mechanic located in Corvallis, who seemed reputable. He run some tests and his recommendation was to replace the engine with a price tag of $6000. Needless to say, I was devastated. After initial shock a worn off, I decided to go back to the South Pacific Auto Sales for a second opinion. And I am so glad I did. When I came in I was welcomed back by John Bracken who gave me his word that they will try to find out what the problem was. At once I felt that these guys cared and understood my pain and fear that were tearing me apart. Steve Hensley was about to leave home, but decided to stay and work on my SUV, long after his working hours. He run the initial test and said it might be an electrical problem and asked me to come back on the next day. Those were the words of hope I needed to hear to get me through the night. When I came back in the morning, Steve worked on my car for 4 more hours, did every possible test and replaced the spark plugs and his final opinion was: "yes, I have the small problem, and no I do not need to replace my engine!" I heard other stories from their customers who feel just as I am, thankful to be a part of the South Pacific Family. I am grateful to these wonderful guys who care so much about the customers that they take the impossible and make it possible to make them happy!
