I purchased a beginners pack of harmonicas from Sam Ash in Cincinnati. When I got them home I found they were defective. I suspected that I might not be able to return a harmonica but thought I would call and ask anyway. I thought since they were defective maybe they could be returned to the manufacturer and not resold. I explained the situation to the guy who answered the phone and asked if I could bring them back and upgrade to something better, and was prepared to spend up to $200. I told him I would be driving from Dayton, about an 80 mile round trip. He said, "no problem," bring them back and they would take care of me. Guess what? I drive all the way down there and they inform me that "you cant return harmonicas." I asked to talk to the manager and he treated me very rudely in front of other customers. When I couldnt tell him the name of the person I talked to on the phone (I didnt ask and no one would admit to it) he implied that I was being less than honest. When I asked him if he thought I was lying about what I was told on the phone, he responded by mocking me and chuckling under his breath. I just bought a bass there last week and a guitar the week before that, and have spent hundreds of dollars there over the years. That was my last visit to Sam Ash.

Update: Service today was much better that in previous times, the gentlemen who helped me were patient and directed me to the correct products. I also like the extended 0% interest deals too to help pay off my gear, especially when I am in a jam and need gear when its not exactly in the budget. I only go to Sam Ash because of one employee there (Gerald) who is attentive, knowledgeable and personable, the rest are inattentive or not nearly as knowledgeable. The store always seems like I just missed a huge crowd because everything is in disarray or there are signs with prices are missing. A few times Ive walked in looking for something but didnt buy because I had questions first, so when I couldnt find a employee anywhere near that department (There are always a couple of employees hanging out by the check out station at the front, though.) I walked out. Also, we know Samson is your house brand but seriously, settle down with stocking this brand, its crowding the brands I want. Today I left disappointed and went around the corner to Guitar Center and was greeted almost immediately by someone knowledgeable and helpful. Also, could someone clean the bathroom, Ive been to gas stations with cleaner bathrooms.

Ive had a VOXAC15C for a couple of years that I received as a Christmas gift. Its a very nice amp, but I didnt love it. I finally made a decision to sell it and thought the best place to start would be Sam Ash - theyd always treated me very well and its always a fun destination. I also brought along a nice Fender amp and an acoustic - since Im looking to sell, why not bring everything? The team at Sam Ash couldnt have been more helpful and gracious. They immediately started looking over my gear and I started to shop. I was really impressed with the selection of amps and guitars. In fact, they had a great price on a used EVH head and a new Marshall cabinet. Ive always wanted an EVH and a Marshall and played away while the team worked up the offer. When they came back with what they could provide in trade or cash - I was very happy. It was a fair offer and, with just a little money out of my own pocket, I could trade my gear for something that I really loved - the EVH head and Marshall cabinet. Im so happy with my new gear, my experience in the store, and the fantastic staff at Sam Ash! THANK YOU! -Eric

Longstanding customer and frequent visitor to this Sam Ash Music store in Tri-County area. Huge selection of quality acoustic guitars (new and used), accessories, printed music and many other instruments. Sales staff are very knowledgeable about instrument lines AND skilled musicians themselves. And unlike many other music stores, they give you ample "breathing room" to try out their gear without standing by you or pressuring for a quick sale. I buy/update/sell acoustic guitars on a going basis, so I also appreciate their willingness to give me free shipper cartons when needed. They understand that little gesture helps enable all of us to keep selling/enjoying terrific guitars on a going basis (and why I can go there frequently!). Ask for Justin Todhunter or Christopher Hardin, my primary contacts, if shopping for an acoustic guitar and youll be in good hands.

if you bring your guitar in for repair, the reps will tell you a reasonable return date. However you wont see it from anywhere from a month to 6 months. Pathetic service. When I would call in, none of the repair reps were even in there. I brought in my acoustic to trade in, one guy said they would give me 150 dollars for it but the next guy said only 75. There is no consistent message or communication. the sales reps come off as lazy and not caring unless you are fully prepared to buy immediately. I was once promised 15% off a guitar, but they said they could only do 10% once i was checking out. Go to guitar center which is in the same parking lot. sam Ash has treated many customers like myself like garbage. Guitar center also has better deals.

I had originally rated my post with 2 stars due to my dissatisfaction on a ukulele adjustment. However, shortly after posting my review Sam Ash hired a luthier named Jon who gave me a call. He saw that I wasnt pleased and offered to redeem the stores credibility free of charge. I agreed... Within a few short days he had adjusted the action and intonation exactly how one would desire it to be. Needless to say the second time around I left with a much different attitude and would recommend their new luthier to anyone needing adjustments to a stringed instrument. Thanks Jon for the great job and going out of your way to correct something even though you werent at fault!

I walked in prepared to purchase a new gibson, or Martin acoustic guitar and not one person said hello, I walked the entire store, landed on the guitar that caught my eye, I stood there, for about 10 minutes. The guitar was on the upper level of the racks, Im in customer service. Sales.. not one time was I asked anything from one employee, it out a sour taste in my mouth. So I left, and I will purchase , from a company that cares about having me purchase a 3000 dollars item. I have 2 stars, only because the selection was nice, other than that, I dont have anything positive from my experience at this store.

Chris Hardin helped me, fantastic customer service! I needed a variety of things from all over the store and despite he was from the guitar Dept he helped me get everything I needed, did extensive look ups to ensure that he found exactly what I was looking for, at the prices I found online as well as present me with comparable options I hadnt been aware of. No sales pressure just assisted me in getting exactly what I came in for. Even went the extra mile to make sure I left with the 2 yr warranties that I had declined to no extra cost to me. Ill definitely be back when I get some more money together
