DO NOT LET THEM SHARPEN YOUR SKATES! I wish I could give less than 1 star. After an unsuccessful attempt at trying to find used skates for my 4 year old son we came to the conclusion that new skates would be our only option. McKies Sports Shop was our first choice but unfortunately they did not have his size in stock. We purchased a brand new pair of Bauer skates from Play It Again Sports from a younger gentleman who had pleasant customer services and assisted us with finding what we needed. We were offered a reduced cost on sharpening since we purchased the skates brand new. The gentleman who helped us select the skates informed us he would have another person (more skilled) sharpen the skates. We went to my sons first practice and discovered that he had a tremendous amount of trouble even standing up on the ice in the skates. We discounted it to the fact that he was learning. He spent a 1/2 hour working with a coach and got upset and frustrated and left the ice. My husband thought he should ask the coach about the sharpen on the skates. The coach’s first remark was "Where did you get these sharpened??" He said there was absolutely no inside edge on the skates and he advised us to bring them to McKies to be fixed. We did just that and heard drastic remarks from them as well. The person who fixed the skates for us at McKies said it is one of the worst sharpenings he has ever seen. We went to the next practice after McKies fixed the skates and my son had no trouble at all standing up or skating with a pusher. He practiced for the full hour and left the ice ecstatic. Thankfully we realized the sharpen of the skates was the issue before putting our son through another practice with half sharpened skates. *We contacted PIAS to discuss this issue and when we asked for a manager we discovered he was the one who sharpened the skates. He defended his work and said he has been sharpening for 25 years; he decided to end the conversation by hanging up on my husband. I should have known with all of the bad reviews for Play It Again Sports but hopefully this is another review that will deter you from giving them your business. We will give all of our business to McKies from now on!

Ive bought a ton of stuff at this store over the years and was never treated like a valued customer at any time. The owner of this store has the worst customer service skills on the planet, and the staff has apparently been trained to have the same "screw you" attitude as the boss. The last straw for me was a pair of BRAND NEW cross country ski boots i bought (hard to find item) that lost an eyelet the second time i laced them up. Called the store about an exchange, and got an insulting attitude from the employee, claiming some nonsense about my having owned the boots too long for an exchange, even though i had them for less than 2 months, and only used them once. This place does NOT stand by the new products they sell, and they treat their customers like crap. Do yourself a favor and just buy new gear from a real sporting goods store. If i could give it zero stars i would have.

Their high prices for used weight plates was bad enough BUT YOU HAVE TO BUY USED PLATES IN PAIRS. Of course, for a higher price, theyll sell you an individual NEW weight plate. So, I went over to Dicks Sporting Goods and bought a NEW 300 lbs Olympic weight set for less than these sleazes wanted for their used gear. The Play It Again Sports on Erie Blvd closed several years ago and I imagine this one will, too. With their attitude and prices, I cant imagine they have much in the way of repeat customers.

Who needs to buy new when hes going to grow out of it in a year! But they also do have new if your looking for that! Staff is very helpful everytime I go in!

Dirt merchants. The owner is beyond rude. They wont even pay you a quarter of what your time is worth. I brought in a set of golf clubs I bought for 300 and they offer me 18$. Dont bother they will steal you blind and then try to convince you that your wrong for saying no to it.

I called this morning and told them the item I wanted to bring in and then drove 30miles to find out they dont buy the item I have and they never mentioned it on the phone! They also were rude on the phone! I will NEVER return!

I went here to check up some used golf clubs and I found a particular used set that costs the same as a new set. Its pretty evident they dont know how to price used items. Im surprised they are still in business.

Good selection of used sports equipment. Pretty pricy still but definitely worth a look before buying something brand new of it doesnt need to be.
