Many years ago, I brought an antique sterling locket to Aurum to be repaired and have been coming here ever since. Most recently, I brought a string of beads with a carved stone charm. It is not monetarily valuable but is by far the most important piece I own. It was a gift and has a wonderful backstory. Although I have received many compliments on it, other than the value it has for me, it could be described as a boutique item, not the usual wedding ring or higher end piece Paul works on or has for sale at Aurum. Not only that, the beads are minuscule. Some were missing and too small to find, lost forever in the carpet. Pauls first suggestion was to find a new chain for the charm. However, after he heard the story of the necklace, he was sensitive to my wanting to keep it intact and agreed to restring it, even though it would be a bear of a task. When I got my necklace back, it was better than I could have imagined. To make up for the missing beads, the original plan had been to knot the string at the back, as might be done for a string of pearls. However Pauls solution was even more artful: over the years doing his work as a designer, he has collected interesting odds and ends and had some beads, lighter in color but the right size, which he snuck in at the back so they are barely noticeable. I couldnt have been more pleased, and the charge was so reasonable. Whether you spend 50k or $50, Paul will give your piece the same meticulous attention. He has appraised an item for me as well, and also creates his own designs. I would not go anywhere else for my Jewelry.

After scouring jewelry stores around Buffalo looking for an engagement ring, Id begun to give up the idea of finding something my girlfriend would like thats also unique and notable. I stopped into Aurum on Elmwood on a whim, and immediately found this place different, charming and sophisticated. I spoke to Paul Michaels, the owner. I gave him a broad idea of what I was looking for, and he promptly showed me a ring that not only fit my criteria, but also was unlike what Ive seen at any other jewelry store. Paul proceeded to work with me to get the ring I wanted with the limited budget I had, all in a time span that worked for when I was planning on proposing. The customer service at Aurum stands apart from everywhere else Ive been. Paul has an old-fashioned sense of customer service, being personable, flexible and insightful with every customer he speaks to. You feel cared for and respected during the process (Ive found jewelry salesman at certain chain stores to be less helpful and somewhat inflexible). It may seem frivolous to some, but I find great value in the experience of getting a ring for my wife, along with the ring itself. Im so glad I found someplace outstanding, interesting and unique to play a part in this chapter of mine and my wifes story. Paul was invaluable in finding the perfect ring and crafting the perfect experience for us, and Ive since gone back to him for wedding bands and Valentines Day gifts, always getting thoughtful insight and accommodating service. Aurum is definitely an ongoing Buffalo treasure.

I was instantly amazed by the large selection of vintage, estate, and custom designed jewelry available at Aurum. Diamonds, pearls, precious gemstones, and antique silver are all beautifully displayed in cases throughout the store. Aurum is a truly special shopping environment and feels like a high end New York boutique. When choosing my wifes engagement ring, Paul provided expert consultation and was a very trustworthy businessman. He also designed a gorgeous custom wedding band to fit perfectly with my wifes vintage Art Deco style ring. Paul is a class act and provides an incredible level of service not commonly found in todays retailers. His attention to detail is evident from the sophisticated decor of the store to his perfected gift wrapping technique. I have since referred many friends to Aurum, and all have echoed my positive experience. Whether it be for a last minute gift for that special someone or designing the perfect engagement ring for your bride to be, Aurum has it all. I now consider myself to be an Aurum customer for life, and would encourage you to become one too.

This was without a doubt the best experience I have ever had with a jeweler. Paul Michaels, who we worked with, is without a doubt a master of his trade. My fiance (then girlfriend) and I contacted Paul about making an engagement ring for us. We had a couple designs each with parts of them that we like and parts we didnt like. We asked him questions about the various types of settings we could do and how to use the stones we already had and which ones to purchase. He was incredibly knowledgeable and knew how to work within the budget we presented him, giving us ways to stay as far within it as we wanted or to approach the limit carefully. He was patient with us, getting all the information he needed to make the ring that we wanted. When it was all said and done, from across the country (We are in Seattle, he is in Buffalo), Paul crafted a ring that legitimately left me without words when I first saw it. It is exactly as I had been imagining it and it is beautiful. As I look at it today, it still makes me smile. I will definitely be contacting Paul in the future for later gifts. If I could give him a 6 out of 5, I would.

Aurum Jewelers was a great experience. I was in a controversy over what to give my girlfriend for Christmas. Being the procrastinator I am, I went looking for a gift Christmas morning. I called every jewerly shop I could find on google. No one answered the phone, until I called Aurum Jewelers. I spoke to a man who was doing finnishing up some work. I explained my disposition to him and how I needed the perfect gift. The store was not open Christmas day but he was kinda enough to call the owner, Paul Michael. Who in turn called me and had me pick him up from his own Christmas party. He opened up his store on Christmas day for a man he never met. He helped me for almost 2 hours before I decided on a pair of sterling silver ear rings with blue topag and a sterling silver necklace with cultured pearls. My girlfriend was happy to say the least! Paul Michael knows what hes talking about, he was very insightful and I will be going back for more jewelry in the future. I highly recomend Aurum Jewelers for any needs you have. Paul found a way to help me, Im sure he can help you as well.

If youre looking for an engagement ring, do yourself a favor and go to Aurum. Im so glad I went here instead of some mall chain. The service was truly exceptional! Paul went so far out of his way to accommodate my busy schedule. I initially went searching for a vintage ring, but one of his custom designs caught my eye. When he offered to create a custom ring in that same design just for me I knew I picked the right place. I let him know my price range and he worked with me to pick out a truly high-quality stone from his inventory. I had a short window of time to work with, and Paul made me a stunning and unique ring just before my girlfriend and I left on a vacation we had planned. I got to propose in the unforgettable, romantic setting just I hoped to - and she absolutely loves the ring!! (And so does everyone else!) Paul was so knowledgeable about everything and really made me feel like family. Theres no way my proposal plans wouldve gone so smoothly if I went somewhere else. Im forever thankful I went to Aurum for my engagement ring!
