10 years of rude treatment. This is my neighborhood Hardware store and I frequent it often and have done so for 10 years. I try to overlook that the staff is consistently rude, verging on agro, as well as uninformed (though theyll never admit it and only ever act like you are in the wrong if they dont know what youre asking for). Ive also consistently received sexist treatment here. I am a woodworker, sculptor, have worked in construction for years (and could build WRs staff under the table despite my not having a penis). But that doesnt stop these fine fellows from telling me to "call my husband" if I pause to think about what I want. Or snickering at me for asking a question. The last straw was when they told me to use concrete screws on cement board/ tile backer-board and then acted like I was such an idiot, rolling their eyes at each other as I tried to explain to them that that was not what I (or anyone installing cement board) needed. Dudes, cant you just say you dont carry durock/hardiebacker screws, kindly suggest an alternative, or better yet, just say youre not familiar with the product Im referring to instead of trying to shame me in attempts to cover up your own ignorance. Maybe a staff meeting about company culture and respect is in order. At very least you gentlemen could smile more. Your store is very convenient for me but Im so done. Devito P Paint & Wallcovering around the corner has many similar products, as does Cheap Charlies next door. PS - even the sign is sexist: "Toys for Big Boys." No thank you.

To their credit, I made a mistake when placing my online order, inadvertantly choosing the wrong color kickplate. The day I received the item I called WR Hardware to let them know about the error. The woman on the phone assured me it would be replaced for the correct color and she told me to email info@wrhardware to receive an RGA number for a return. I did so immediately. I waited two days and did not hear back. I called the company, but they were closed (it was a Saturday). Two days later was Labor Day, and they were not in again, but I did re-send my original email. I waited two additional days, and when they did not respond I called again. This time I was told my request should be sent to service@wrhardware. After immediately sending my email, I received a response telling me there is no return allowed for kickplates. Why was I not told this in the first place? (I would have understood.) Why was I given the wrong email address to write to, and why did no one who was receiving my emails tell me to send it to the other email address? (The email address I was using matched one on the invoice, so I assume it is a working email). Why were they not available on a Saturday or have a voice mail to leave a message? Overall, very poor customer service. I would not recommend.

Get your keys made well, buy a plunger, epoxy, screws and nails by the pack or the piece. Perfectly adequate for your basic hardware needs, not the wonderland that is Crest on Metropolitan, but if you speak Polish, youre in for a treat.

Consistently helpful, convenient, and reasonably priced. I can always get tools from WR with way less hassle than going to home depot, and pay about the same price.
