This used to be my favorite record shop, and only 15 minutes from my house. Was in there tonight with my daughter and a record in hand to buy when the owner played a song which repeated the F bomb repetitively. Apparently he doesnt understand the fundamentals of customer service, the first being never disrespect your customer, and while you may own the joint, its at the mercy of the people who buy your product. Fatal mistake. I placed the record I was about to purchase back in its appropriate bin and walked out letting him know I would not be back. Such a shame. And for the record (yes, pun intended) in all the times Ive been in the store, and thats many times, the music played was always complete crap. Oh, and invest in a real audio system. You sell music for cryin out loud. Just sayin.

Normally I overlook how pricy this store is, but the other day I just wanted a few new cassettes for my car. So I ended up spending $10 on 3 cassettes $4 for a cheap trick one and its like really? $3 for a Sonny Rollins which was the extent of their jazz collection and then another $3 for a Chicago greatest hits. Now I normally pay $1 a cassettes every where else. Not to mention the cheap trick cassette didnt work. On top of this the vinyl are always over priced. If you want a beetles album, that is a reprint mind you, $40 minimum . Not to mention I have never seen any used vinyls. The only fair priced thing here was there surprise bags of vinyls.

In terms of selection, fair pricing, overall layout and tremendous staff, this is by far the best record store Ive discovered in a very, very long time. My wife and I live for record stores - hell, we met working in one - and Darkside immediately became a fast favorite. The variety of records, both across genres and titles, is first rate, and the staff and overall "vibe" (for lack of a less dorky term) is the absolute best there is. Really, heres all you need to know: the store is about 90 minutes each way from where my wife and I live in lower Westchester...and we still head up there all the time.

I go here once or twice a week. Its great, they have new/used cds and new/used vinyl. I just gt into vinyl and have gone to stores in new paltz, manhattan and poughkeepsie. This is my favorite. The selection is great and the prices are very competetive. Plus, they do a good job checking the vinyl before its priced/sold. its as good as it gets.

great place for new and used vinyl and cds. got a selection that beats most new york city stores. The prices beat many and almost all stores i have been too. 3 or 4 dollar cds and rare vinyl as well. Organized, and the staff is excellant and very nice! Great Atmosphere!
