I have been to other shops in essex county and Jinx have been the best so far. i feel very lucky that i chose this shop considering this was the biggest tattoo i have and also more detailed. Ox did my tattoo and he is really nice, professional, and he made me feel comfortable. i believe at first people dont know how to take someone and will be to quick to judge but once you feel someone out and get to know them then you suddenly have a different take on them. that was the case with me. i felt like he was very professional and straight forward (kind of serious lol) however that doesnt mean that he is mean, or unfriendly etc...once the awkwardness passed we laughed and joked and it honestly seemed as though i been there a million times before. NOW for the important part-my tattoo is AMAZING. i love my tattoo.. i couldnt have asked for anything else. he truly made it my own, and i honestly felt like he couldve just did the tattoo and been done with it.. but he included extra details as he was going along and even when he was done he kept on....i guess tweaking it and seeing what else can be done..basically perfecting it. it was to the point that i wanted to tell him to stop and leave me alone lol....oh and he tatted me for about 3 maybe 4hours so he couldve just ended the session and been done with it. the shop is lovely...never thought i would describe a tattoo shop as lovely but it really is. its clean, spacious, really nice decor. the other artist are nice they smiled often and was friendly. i will def continue to get work done at jinx and honestly i wish i would have dealt with them for all of my other tattoos which i started at the age of 16 and i am now 30. i hope someone from jinx reads this review so they can feel proud and give themselves a pat on the back.

very expensive (but went to 3 different shops in the area and they were all the same price, so thats no big deal) $150 for a very simple plain brown tattoo with no black outline. anyway, the tattoo was drawn very well as it was very simple, and initially I loved it. I showed him the exact color brown that I wanted and he said he can do it. when it was complete it looked perfect and the exact color i wanted for about 2 days after the tattoo. but after that the color is very pale like it has no saturation and and almost a purplish light brown. definitly not the color i wanted. so i went back cause i was getting the same exact tattoo done on the opposite arm. besides the fact that the tattoo needed a MAJOR touch up (blotches of empty spaces) i also asked if he could fix the color, he said "well theres not much i can do about that, its just the way brown is" so i accepted that answer and he retouched my tattoo and completed the one on the opposite arm. he is wrong, that is not the way brown is. my friend came to visit from albany and he has an amazing looking tattoo with a great color brown in it. so im going to travel to albany to get my tattoos redone. the guy in albany is charging me 100 to 150 for BOTH as opposed to 150 each. now, i never went back for the retouch on the second tattoo (and it needs one big time) the lines arent even straight on this one. and the first tattoo still needs a touch up. i would not recommend jinx, sorry

Why even offer piercing services at all? I went in today for a daith piercing, which I think are pretty common and popular so I totally didnt expect it to be an issue. The girl at the front desk (also the piercer on site), who clearly hated that I was even bothering her at all, had NO idea what this piercing was and straight up told me to go some place else, she "doesnt do those piercings." Fine, she didnt know what a pretty common piercing was BUT she was pretty rude, didnt apologize that she couldnt help, just bluntly told me to look elsewhere. Very displeased with my half-a-minute visit, wont ever go back because who knows what other piercings they wont do/wont know how to do? They should fire the receptionist (cant actually call her a piercer because she didnt pierce me......... so while theyre at it, maybe hire a more competent, informed piercer) for someone a little less rude and who doesnt act like Im wasting her precious time just by asking she could help me. Geeze, what an embarrassment. tl;dr: I guess call beforehand and ask if theyll do a piercing before you waste your time actually showing up and assuming they can do A SIMPLE, POPULAR PIERCING.

Im not sure theres any word out there to describe the perfection this shop possesss. First off you walk in and youre greeted by a kind young man named Rick. He obviously is a very experienced guy bc he is really covered in tattoos! He along with the others are quite good looking, very very easy on the eyes! Anyways after a few hours of speaking to Rick he walked me back to meet the guy that was going to do the tattoo. His name is Ax and this guy is GOOD! I now know I can finally say I have my tattoo guy" Ive always wanted to be able to say that!!! Everytime I go in there I remind him how hes my guy Slightly burly with a native tongue he applied my drawing I brought on my phone. Its a butterfly and it has my 10 kids names in the wings and the body is the Statue Of Liberty. To me it means life nd freedom. I would never put anything on my shrine of a body that didnt have any meaning to it!!!! After all we get tats to be like everyone else, not to be different!! Ax certainly knew how to get the job done.

these guys are simply to die for. they are totally amazing at everything in life including tattooing. I got my first tattoo there. it was a sheeps head holding a rose with a cactus and smiley faces..Im pretty sure the gentlemans name was Vinny Knife; I think they called him that. You talk about a gentle sweet man! this guy, Id trust him with my kids after the first day I met him...and my wife for that matter Needless to say Ive been back many, many times..And that owner, what a guy! I think his name is Ax or something. As a living person or as a dead person I would go there at all costs no matter what. They are total class acts and above all else know how to work the skin..Love you guys!

Lemme tell you how amazing this shop is. I went in there for a tattoo on my ribs of a big beautiful butterfly to represent my Grandmother who passed away 2 years ago. I finally worked up the courage to get tattooed since i have been so afraid for so many years to do so, but I decided it was finally time. My tattoo artist was Eric and lemme tell you he was the nicest boy I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I told him how nervous I was to get tattooed and he made me feel super comfortable and even asked me repeadedly if I was okay and how I was doing. I love Jinx Proof, theyre clean, safe, and all very friendly. I reccomend everyone gets tattooed here.
