I have been going to this store since it opened and have found that its a crap shoot depending on them keeping anything in stock ,therefore I only go there when I dont want to drive to Basil Bandwagon in Flemington, which very rarely is out of stock and does not keep rotting produce on the shelves, which is another thing Big Bear does. I have found this to be true there several times but just as an example, few weeks ago they had a bin of beats, gone bad, sit there for a week. I finally had to tell one of their staff about it before anyone realized and removed them. The last straw is I went in there today to get a bottle of natural dishwashing detergent and the clerk sold me a bottle of dish soap, which is not for the dishwasher and I didnt notice until I got home. I went back to exchange it and he would not give me my money back, but only a gift card, which means I have no choice but to go back there again. Granted, I should have double checked what the clerk was selling me, but in a case like that a person should get a refund and not be forced to return there in order to get an exchange in goods.

Oh Wow Cow is right across the parking lot from this Natural Foods store, and they disappointingly do not sell even one vegan option. But no worries, Big Bear has a nice little selection of dairy-free treats! The shop is small, but well-organized and absolutely packed with goodies. The store clerks were very friendly and attentive without being overbearing while we looked around at everything. They also had the So Delicious brand coconut whipped cream...that stuff is amazing. Seriously. Its SO good. I ended up having some just on a banana with a drizzle of dark chocolate, holy smokes is that good! The only negative is that the parking lot is very poorly lit, and although its big, it was also totally packed. Other than that, only good things to say!

The quality is right there--so fresh & tasty that we regularly overlook the inevitable error(s) in every order. The issues are prices (e.g., a 1/2 gallon of almond milk for which a nearby grocery store charges $3.79 costs $5 and change here) and service--and this is the much bigger difficulty. Theyre not always open when they say theyll be, and theyre unpredictable when they are open: we orders three wraps; they said 20 minutes. We arrived 20 minutes later, and they hadnt started yet; we were told itd be another 20 minutes. The wrinkle is that there wasnt a single other customer in the store. 40 minutes for three sandwiches in an empty shop? As high as the quality is, you can only put up with this sort of thing for so long....

Review update April 2016. As other reviewers have started, depending on the day and who is working there, you may get great experience and they have what your want... But we have found getting anything in their back bar is random and we have had such different experiences with portion size and taste, that we are deciding not to go there.... They really need to get their training and oversight and quality control in order... Previous review - We always split the "Big Bear Salad" with 3 sides... great hummus great, babaganoush and great stuffed grape leaves...great taste and a great value! you cant miss if youre looking to eat healthy

Wonderful selection of healthy foods. I was surprised to discover that their is a full juice bar located inside that also serves some light meals and snacks. Definitely worth checking out. Only criticism that I have for this store is that the prices are too high and the staff was completely uninterested and uninvolved when it came to interacting with or assisting me in any way. This experience is based on multiple visits.

I have never seen a family company work as hard and care as much as the Big BearNatural Health food Store. I wish more retail stores were as experienced in their bussiness acumen!!!! amazing!!!

Safe to ship here since there is nothing filled with chemicals and crap that big grocery stores have. Variety isnt great, but the stuff wont kill you!!
