In the area on business, and always like to find new pipe tobacco/cigar stores. John Dengler Tobacconist was close to the hotel I was staying at so I dropped on over after work one day. Extremely pleasant and helpful owner, Larry, helped me select several tobacco samples and a few cigars. The store itself is a bit on the small side, but he has cigars tucked away in side lockers; if you ask about a certain cigar, more than likely he can go right to it, or recommend something similar if he doesnt have that particular one. Cant wait to get home with a little warmer weather to sample the pipe tobaccos. Even if I cant make it back to the area soon, he says they support mail orders as well. Looks like he had a very nice selection of briar and corn cob pipes to choose from as well, in addition to lighters, humidors, cigar cutters, etc. Would definitely recommend dropping by if you are in the Saint Louis/Saint Charles area!

This is a real tobacconist like some of us remember from when everyone smoked a pipe. There is a nice selection of pipe tobaccos, most are store blends. They will also make custom blends if asked. They carry pipes ranging from small corncobs to large meerschaums. Also seems to be a decent select of cigars but I usually ignore that side of the store.

I have been a frequent visitor of Mr. Dengler for the past few years and his shop is incredible. I moved over a half-hour from St. Charles, but I still drive up anytime Im buying my cigars. The service is incredible and the prices cant be beat. Whether youre a cigar aficionado or just smoke one here and there this shop will impress!

Very personal, knowledgeable staff. Larry knows his stuff! He has almost every pipe tobacco under the sun, and has more cigars than most tobacco stops Ive seen in awhile. Definitely one of St. Louis best! Stop in; worth your time. Also happens to be in Historic St. Charles, Missouris original capitol city.

I visit this establishment regularly. Opened and family owned since 1907. One or both owners are always on-site to answer questions. They offer veteran discounts and with a pipe purchase offer a free ounce of tobacco of your choice.

Great selection of Pipes, Cigars and loose tobacco. Owner is super nice and is very considerate to his customers regardless of their knowledge. Can you buy it cheaper? Maybe. Can you buy better? I doubt it.

Jessi, the reason he has the cigars under locked glass cabinets is because of noobs like you. NOBODY wants to buy a cigar that has been handled like a kleenex. That is poor cigar etiquette.
