I just bought a pair of asolo boots from your company CASH. I was told that they were the only type available. I checked around and found out that your information was incorrect., Now i cannot cancel the order 3hrs later. and get my CASH back. your business practice is dishonest. Now i have to wait until they boots you sold me arrive.under false pretense , then return them in order to get my CASH back.because they are already on the way.I hope you do not think i believe this for one minute.I have bought thousands of dollars worth of items from your company. 2 old town kayaks, asolo boots, biking gear ect. Your policy is lame and i will no longer do business with your company. a satisfied customer tell 3 people. a dissatisfied customer tells 300. you can also remove me from your co-op.. I shop with companies that make things easy. I was not looking for a part time job on a cash transaction.I will take up any more of your time.EVER.

Went into REI yesterday to compare prices and hopefully buy a new pair of hiking boots. Upon entering the store we were BOMBARDED with sales associates asking us if we needed help, one super douche asked us if we were "surviving". Literally 8 different employees (not including the one employee who asked us 3 times) approached us in less than 15 minutes. To much pressure for sure. Went upstairs to try on boots and at first the experience went well (2 female associates who were friendly and helpful without being pushy). Then they got really busy and a male associate came to help. I asked him 2 questions and he replied in a VERY condescending tone and manner, then stared at us. He was so rude that coupled with the super aggressiveness of the other sales associates I will not be coming back.

Sorry B. K., but REI isnt a "sporting goods store" like Dicks. They dont sell balls. They dont sell tennis rackets. They sell the best stuff for the great outdoors. They only sell the top-of-the-line and they wont sell you something you dont need. If youre going to "camp out" with the kids in the basement, they wont sell you a subzero rated sleeping bag. The REI membership is the best deal in town. You get a rebate on everything you buy, but, more important you get advance notice of sales and even invitations to members-only events. What a great store!

Bought a new bike from REI today... Im a big guy trying to get into shape. From the sales associate out on the floor to the two guys in the bike shop (Paul and Brett) I received some of the best customer service Ive ever had. They were extraordinarily helpful, from the test ride, to the adjustments, to helping me find a couple of appropriate accessories. I almost went to a bike shop, thinking a dedicated store might be a better choice. But my wife shops at REI and convinced me to go there. Really glad I did. Couldnt be happier.

REI does NOT stand by their products like other manufacturers in the outdoor industry. Buy from REI at your own risk. I purchased an REI sleeping pad a few years ago and used it less than 40 times total. When it developed air leaks around the mouth valve, (a product defect, in my opinion) I brought it in and was told I could not get it replaced or repaired. REI and the store in St. Louis are not reliable for anyone serious about spending time outdoors. You are better off going someplace else.

I have always had pretty good service at REI St Louis (helmet selection service equally bad every where I go. Zero understanding of the helmet standards and best designs to have an accident with) Helmets aside when I was living in Fresno CA and having constant tube leaks from goat heads I asked for help from the local REI stores for the best tires to use. Absolutely clueless, so I called St Louis REI who gave me a number of options.

I called to ask questions about a upcoming backpacking trip to the Grand Canyon. When I asked for guidance with pack selection the employee told me he didnt know what I was going to pack and therefor could not help me. When I stated he wasnt being helpful at all and that I was looking for guidance he repeated himself and I hung up. I called Uncle Sams, asked the same questions regarding my trip and got advice without attitude.

The staff that was walking around the store were very friendly... It was the cashiers that were imposing I join their membership or what have you. I know they are required to ask but when I declined to do so both times I have been belittled and made to feel stupid for not taking on the savings... I know this is partly because they are expected to sign so many people on... But it definitely has left a bad taste.

Amazing staff that is knowledgeable and helpful, I generally come here for my casual shoes and couldnt be happier. The price is higher than the cheap shoe store, but its well worth the extra couple dollars. The store look is simple as it should be, still not sure why google reviews has the option for a shoe industry. The store has a great guarantee that they uphold. I love this store, check it out!

The place wont accept a credit card with the same last name and a different first name. I drove an hour with a card borrowed (given to go get myself some birthday shoes) and they told me at the register I couldnt use it even though Im clearly a family member and had other credentials to prove it. We are cancelling our membership and will shop elsewhere for life.

Have bought a few things here and the sales staff is generally friendly and well-informed. Prices are too high but it caters to a yuppie market. Ive also attended two classes--one for outdoor cooking and one for flat-tire repair. The first, taught by two staff members, was excellent. The latter, taught by some pompous jerk from the bike shop, was unbearable.

You can really get carried away here if you dont watch out. Better to browse here and shop online or elsewhere, however we got pur roof rack installed here b/c they were reasonable, timely with installation and only 2nd in town doing it. BuT, to further demonstrate my point the carriage bag here is $70 and elsewhere the same carriage bag for $20.

Took my sons bike to REI to have an innertube replaced. Tom in the bike shop was super nice, even showed my sons (age 8 and 9) how to change a tire/inner tube. Yes, he couldve threw it on the rack and did it himself in probably half the time, but I like that he made it a learning experience. Customer service a 10!

Bought a bike there last year. Was told to come back for a free service on the bike in six months. Now, they tell me that it has to be done WITHIN the first six months! Lack of communication? Who knows, but I think they are not as good as a real bike shop in helping maintain your bicycle.
