I would rate this place with a half star if that were a choice. I have never been treated as badly by a store as I was treated yesterday. A bunch of grumpy old men (as they have been described by other reviewers) may be an understatement. Maybe they are merely grumpy on a good day, but on my first and last visit, they were downright abusive. I had to bring in a generator I purchased at Menards - it needed service. They agreed (in a prior phone call) to carry it from my car to their service area. However, they were not happy about this when I walked in and the gentlemen who put the brand new generator on his hand truck dropped it onto the parking lot. Then he got p***** - AT ME. It was all downhill from there. These three old men started yelling at me about bringing in this "piece of s***" equipement for them to service. I was shocked. I asked them why they were mad at me and they proceeded to yell at me for A) shopping at Menards (you get what you pay for), B) expecting them to look at it, and C) for following Menards explicit instructions that I bring the generator to them (Johnson Hardware) because they (Johnson Hardware) are a contracted dealer for Menards. This fact (that they are a contracted dealer for Menards) was vehemently denied by Johnson; it was just as vehemently supported by Menards General Manager (later in the day). They actually told me to tell Menards to "shove it up their a****." When I persisted in questioning why they were yelling at me as if I were the problem and not their business partner, Menards, they kicked me out of the store saying "we dont want you and we dont need Menards business.Get the h*** out of our store" The kicker was one of the mens wives came back into the service area and told me (very quietly) to stop talking because they would only yell at me louder. I asked her if they were treating me like this because I am a woman and she said, yes. I asked her if this had happened before and she said, "all the time". Later, at Menards, when I was sharing my story, management confirmed this was not an isolated case. They said corporate had been informed. Whatever is going on between Johnson and Menards should stay between them. I shouldnt be party to abuse by a bunch of old men who are (obviously) deeply unhappy with themselves and their little store. I walked in with a broken generator and a $600 budget to buy a snowblower. Instead, I had to beg them to put my heavy generator in my car, watched them rip my car upholstery while roughly shoving in the generator they had previously dropped and scratched in the parking lot, and left with shaking hands to purchase a snowblower from another company. Johnson Hardware, with so much competition out there, why would you drive customers away? Well, so be it - I drive by your store every day on the way to work. Im going to enjoy watching your business fail

I have been in the store about 5 times in my first week of living Im my new home. Everyone was so helpful to me, and explained everything that I didnt know. I have successfully fixed 3 leaks this week, and with this being our first home, I had no idea what I was doing. They were nice, quick to help, and understanding of my shortcomings. I will continue going here for many years, they have already proved to me that if I want my questions answered and dont want to pay a lot, they know their stuff, will go above and beyond to make sure all your questions are answered, and their prices are fair- if they find something that will work just as well for a cheaper price, they will find it for you. thank you johnsons hardware, I got to do laundry tonight because of your help!!

Great small engine repair team. My 35 year old snowblower was running poorly and the carb leaked. They called me with a 1 $140 dollar estimate. I okayed it assuming that it was only for the carb work. In addition to the carb overhaul, they replaced the headgasket, did a valve job and changed the oil. Fired up on the first pull. I told them Id be back in another 35 years. I love real hardware stores like these and guys who can fix anything for a reasonable cost. They worked the same magic on my trusty lawn boy a few years back.

Dropped off a window on Saturday. The gentleman told me my window would be fixed the next day and that he would call me. I never received my call. So Monday morning comes and I call them, not only was the guy rude, he had no idea what he was talking about. Nor could he give me any information about my window. Really crappie customer service there. If your going to be crabby and rude, I dont think you should be working in customer service.

My apartment changed locks and gave me only 1 key. To get a spare key from them would cost me $75. I took the "do not duplicate" keys into Johnson Hardware and a very nice gentleman made me copies! I really appreciated it! Literally saved me $73 a key! Great store packed with stuff wall to wall. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Ill definitely be returning! I even referred a few people to this place.

These guys are awesome. First they know there stuff and second, I never go there and dont leave without what I need. They do have an odd sense of humor that sometimes can catch you off guard but after youve been there a few times that is part of the allure. Especially go here if you need keys made. Every once in awhile I forget that and get Keys made at the big boxes and they never work.

They are the best at what they do nobody holds a candle to these guys there fair friendly and very helpful and they have what the big box stores dont good face to face service and hard to find parts and great people if u are looking for anything start with Johnson Hardware !!!! There #1 and out do there competition hands down thats why they are still in business because there good !!!!!

I was locked out of my house after my key was bent. I went to the Home Depot near my place to see if they could cut another key out of my two bent halves. They couldnt, but recommended I try Johnson Hardware. I went and they made me a new key that worked perfectly. They were also super friendly. I now travel out of my way whenever I need a hardware store.

Love this place. I have passed by this store many times, I finally had the need to buy a few items, Extremely satisfied with the professionalism and friendly service. They had exactly what I needed and I was in and out of the store in a jiffy. Service with a smile. I will definitely be back for all my hardware needs while I am around this area.

The first time I was in this store I ended up walking out because the employee was mocking me for my lack of knowledge in front of the other employees. I decided to give it a second try after a couple years had gone by, and was met with the same horrible service. Never again will I make this mistake.
