If I could give this store 0 stars, that is what I would give them. I purchased a carbine over the internet with the assurance I would receive it in 2 days because it was in stock. I placed the order and it was shipped FedEx 2nd day delivery. My carbine arrived at this store at 11:15 AM on the second day. After waiting 6 hours I called the store, at 17:30, to find out when I could pick it up. I was informed that there was no one there to "check it in"! I asked the clerk at the other end if there would be someone to "check it in" tomorrow and he replied he didnt know. Next day I called at 11:15, (24hours after FedEx had delivered it), and was told I had to wait until it was checked in and I received a phone call to pick it up. I received that call at 12:17. I arrived at the store at 12:40 and took my number in line. There was only one clerk at the register and he was processing another online order. My number was 37 and the gentlemen at the register had a ticket of 28. After waiting for 45 minutes with no one on the counter, I inquired if the previous clerk had had a heart attack and died as he hadnt come back from processing the previous guys paperwork. Poorest quality customer service Ive ever experienced. My carbine was paid for and delivered and this crew could care less if I ever got it. The clerks were rude and looked like they could care less if I died right there. Long story short. I didnt get out of this store until 14:45! 2 hours of waiting and processing papers! What a joke. I will never again purchase anything from Gander Mountain. Do yourself a favor and avoid this poorly staffed, non-customer service, and rude store.

Went to the store to sell one of my firearms and buy a new one that I had put on Layaway. Took a number... number 97. They were on 96 so I thought, great Im next. After standing at the counter for almost over an hour patiently waiting my turn (I know 4473s take some time) an employee noticed I had a firearm box, the one I brought to sell. He asked if there was a gun in the box to which I replied yes. He then told me I had to check the firearm in at customer service! This, after I had stood at the counter with the box on the counter and had multiple employees walk by me and see the box. No one bothered to tell me I had to check anything in. So I go and check the gun in and while Im up front I hear someone call our "number 97!" from the back. I was 97. Promptly after I hear 98...99..100.... I lost my place in line because no one could bother to tell me I had to check in a firearm I brought to sell! I had plenty of time to do this the first hour I was there. So back at the gun counter, I have to wait yet another 30 min to get help! So far Im up to an hour and a half. Once I did get waited on, it took another hour and a half to sell my firearm and buy one. Like I said, I know the paperwork takes a while but come on! Oh and when the manager came by to do a "compliance check" on the paperwork, he nit picked every detail while stopping every couple of minuets to B.S. with the employees thus dragging my agony out even longer. I have bought and sold cars faster than this! I will never return or recommend this place to anyone unless you like spending your whole day waiting to purchase a firearm. Terrible experience overall.

I am not sure about this place! I really like the recent remod that they did and the massive gun counter, but as many people have stated in the past... The customer service here STINKS! I am not kidding... It STINKS! In all of the times that I have been to this location, I have only met one helpful employee. Dozens of visits, and only ONE experience that I can say was pleasant from an employee standpoint. I typically frequent this store if I happen to be in the area and need some smaller/ancillary things. I have never made a large purchase from here, and I probably will not because of the service and the pain in the rear that I can imagine it is... Also, the prices seem a little out of whack with their competition. It seems like everything is a little more than if you were to go somewhere else... I was looking at boots the last time that I was there and I had the word WOW escape out of my mouth several times, but not in a good way... Apparently the hunting boots are filled with gold or something because there is no other reason for them to cost 1/4 of your annual income. Also, other things are the same way. I saw a release that looked like it was pretty nice and it was ON SALE there. I decided that I wouldnt "pull the trigger" just yet until I did some price research and I was glad that I made that decision because I found it $30 cheaper. Granted, I had to purchase it online, but it was still cheaper. Thats the reason that I only go here for smaller things. If I need something big, then I will spend the gas money to go to Bass Pro or Cabelas... Sorry Gander...

I have never sent an email or written a review about a corporation prior to today. But after the experience I had at the Gander Mountain in Utica, MI, I felt the need to say something. I have already sent an email to the corporate office and I am writing this review in hopes that someone at the store level (ie Store Manager or Customer Service Manager) will read it and possibly take some sort of action. I am not going to get into the details on why I had to visit the store. Suffice to say I made a simple request to a customer service rep (Steve) and was met with a rude reply and tone. Last Saturday and today have been the only times I have set foot in a Gander Mountain. And as long as my credits and returns have been processed correctly, this will be the last time I have purchased anything from them or set foot in their stores. Reading the other reviews it appears that I am not the only person who is not happy with their experience at Gander Mountain. I have worked in retail for many years and have many years of experience in customer service. If I talked to my customers in the manner that Steve talked to me today, I would be out of a job. I hope that someone from the regional corporate office or the Utica store will read my review and take some sort of action. I do not expect anything to happen, because complaints generally do not get results. I just wanted my voice to be heard. Thank you for your time.

I went into Gander Mountain to purchase a pistol. I went to several shops (Dunhams/Dicks/Cabellas) so I already knew the exact pistol I wanted, Garry then called my number and I told him what I wanted. He was the first person out of the several gun shops I had been to, to tell me that this pistol had no safety. I asked about that gun probably 20 times at every single shop and no one, but him told me that gun had no safety. I am very thankful he mentioned something because one of the biggest things I looked for in a gun was the safety portion. The customer service didnt stop there, he then gave me advice as to what caliber size I should get, he also took the gun with us to the aisle in order to find the prefect fitting holster AND he also helped me pick out my ammo. Thank you Garry! There was also a manger on duty there at the time, I didnt get his name, but I want to say he was one of the most professional managers Ive meet. He really helped his employees with what they needed, he wasnt just yelling at everyone to do something for him like most managers now a days do, so I was pleased to see the overall friendly and professional environment. I recommended this location to anyone whose looking for anything! I am completely happy with my purchases and I received great customer service here. I will be returning here for all of my future gun/hunting/fishing purchases!
