Jax Menagerie

I havent brought anything in to sell (honestly forgot they do buy back) but the prices are fantastic. I left with 5 books all for under 7.00 a piece, and found one in the free bin outside. The cafe is very clean. Theres enough staff who ask if you need help but then let you alone to look. I love how much of the store is used books, I was looking at one book and had five price options between brand new to very good but for half the price. The selection is incredible, I really wish this had been around when I was in college. What doesnt this store sell? It depends on what kind of nerd you are but there should be something youll want. Clothes, Bags, Comics, Figurines, Home Decor, Cds, DVDs, Records/Players, Musical Instruments, Toys... I could easily spend an hour in each section of the store. I dont know about the Utica Barnes and Noble, but the one in Rochester has a used section but its much smaller and off in a corner. There just seemed to be much more here and I skipped several book sections. There are many table displays of discounted books, they were all carefully sorted into similar genres.

Pros: Free bin outside and once in a while you will find a good deal. Its a good place to buy things for a little over average internet price. Cons: If you are selling things look elsewhere. They will give you less than 20% of their selling price for trade credit and less than 10% in cash. They do this thing called "bin pricing" where they will only give you a price of all of what you are selling and not want to tell you how much they give individually. That lets them get away with giving you much lower prices on items and possibly giving you no money for some that you sell. The staff there is really run by a seemingly micro-manager that seems to make up policies on their own and changing buying prices on a whim. You know a store isnt that great when their buying practices are more sketchy than gamestop. Conclusion: If you are looking to buy this place is a little pricy, but stay away if you want to sell your items.

Great variety of different books for all different kinds of tastes. They also have used music and movies. Very comfy atmosphere. If you dont want some books, music, or anything else, they will also buy them from you. Normally they give you more store credit then cash, but if you love books, get the store credit! If you love reading, listening to music, watching movies, and anything else, this is the place for you!

Contraption Day

A great stop for Birthday gifts for all ages. I like to come here once a month or so as thats the amount of time it takes for newer items to appear on the shelves. Their trade in system doest give you a fair payment and its just better to sell your items online in that case. It would be better if they gave you more for your items in in-store credit, but I believe they dont do that here.

George (Darlenes husband) Very good place to find those albums that your mom threw away, selling your "dont listen to anymore" albums and cds. Always get the store credit. Much more than the cash. Dont know what to spend your credit on, buy a bag of coffee or save up the credits and get one of the kewl guitars hanging on the wall. Anything in print or on vinyl or plastic, they have it.

Really cool place. They sell books, cds, records, anime, Manga, and various other things. Just about every Fandom out there will find something they love. They have a free book bin outside of the store that I love to check out every week. The only downside of the place is that things are marked up a little higher than they should be. Even so, its a good place to check out.

Great used book prices, but they off-set that by gouging on certain nostalgia factor video games and systems. That said, I will still always stop here when passing through town, since the selection is unmatched. Fifth star over the Auburn Hills location is for the coffee shop. Always friendly service, and good coffee choices.

Pretty cool place to check out, its basically a nerdy thrift store. Even has a "free books" box outside, cmon, how can you not love free books?! this place also will buy your nerdy things, like old games, comics, and other merchandise. The prices are very fair.

One of my absolute favorite places. They have new and used goods. They offer musical instruments as well as games, CDs, movies, books, toys, collectibles, and journals. The free bin out in the front has produced some good items when we stopped to look.

I love 2nd and Charles because you can trade in new books and get either store credit or cash and I usually get the store credit because they always have a great selection. If you are looking for a certain book, check 2nd and Charles.

Prices are great. I can go with my 2 year old and let her pick out a huge stack of books for a few bucks. Love how you can buy both new and used items and they have a large selection of items including books, movies, and collectibles.

Reasonable prices and a huge range of options all at the same place. Movies, books, music, toys, comics, modern and retro games, collectibles, art/posters/decorations, instruments and t-shirts. If its cool its probably here.

Can get lost in here for hours!!! Old video games, records, comics, board games, free book bin its worth going in and checking out I spend about $100 on stuff every visit. But be warned they dont have bags so bring you own!

Unique store, a little bit like a Media Play, back in the day. Great prices on used books and media, plenty (*tons*) of collectibles and friendly staff. Definitely enjoy wandering around and checking everything out.

Great kids section, friendly and helpful staff. Spend some time, theres lots to look through. My daughter loves that they put her art sheet in the wall. I love looking at the wall of books- cool decor.

While they do have an abnormal amount of used books and other things for sale; the crap ton of witch craft, satanic items and devil worshipping paraphernalia is VERY disturbing and is disgusting! Boo
