I go to this homedepot for 2 reasons. 1. I get free home depot reward cards from American Express instead of airline miles (I never fly), other construction retailers arent an option. 2. It is close to my house, making it somewhat more convenient. But if I have time to drive, and dont have free gift cards, I never go here, for a few reasons. 1. Selection is less than at Lowes or Menards. 2. Price is more than at Lowes or Menards. 3. Service is less than at both, both in quality and quantity (HomeDepots seem to be far more understaffed). Often at home depot you will not be able to find a part because things have gotten moved around and they dont employ enough stock people to keep the shelves organized. 4. Product quality is no better. We bought a new washer & dryer over thanksgiving at this Home Depot (Because I had those free cards) it was delivered today, January 2nd, over a month later. As always, the delivery guys were third party independent contractors (Lowes delivery is SO SO much better). After installing the dryer, which is gas, I asked them if they did the bubble test (to check for leaks), they said they did. Later I go down and sniff it, I smell gas. I do the bubble test, I see lots of bubbles. They left my house with a live gas leak. What if I had been a clueless homeowner who didnt know to check such things? What if we had gone out or left town for the weekend after this? What if we went to sleep as gas built up in the basement? Especially with us having a 7 month old. I called home depot, spoke to a manager named Chris, he assured me that the delivery people were a third party and so the fault was theirs and not Home Depot, I think Manager Chris splits hairs a bit much. He said he would forward my complaint to the delivery company, he didnt seem very outraged about the whole thing. Considering it was only my due diligence that saved Home Depot from a potention wrongful death suit I thought he would care more, apologize profusely, and offer to foot the bill to send a professional over to make sure the leak had stopped. Instead he suggested I call the gas company because they might come out and check it for free. I fixed the leak, prior to even calling them, immediately I shut off the gas, then undid the coupling where the bubbles materialized, added pipe dope that came with the connection kit that the installers did not use, and reconnected it snugly. Turned the gas back on, sniffed, did the bubble test, good. Still, he didnt know that. Even if he was merely worried about protecting Home Depot he should have insisted on having a third party come out and check it. He just didnt seem to care, maybe it was the end of his shift. In anycase, if you can help it, drive to the other side of town and shop Lowes instead.

Went to store and had kitchen dept set up measure for cabinets, granite and sink, got measurement done, went to store sat down and went over layout. Ordered cabinets, farm sink, faucets, granite. Here is where it turned for the worst. Ordered farm sink 7-29-16, was told 4-6 weeks, waited until receiving phone call sink is set to ship out from Kohler 10-4-16, was told again on the 10-12-16 sink set to ship out, huh 2 ship out dates. After several trips to speak to Tina, who is wonderful, I was told cant get answers from dot com people. Went on vacation the week of the 18th, received voice mail stating no info on sink, returned the 24th, went to home depot and again was told no info but the guy from resolution team at home depot wanted to speak to me, he stated he is working on sink order give him 24 hours, again nothing, next day no word from him, so I went back to store to speak to store manager, she said same thing give her 24 hours. The next day I got phone call from Tina saying no new info, then a email came in saying sink on extended back order and the following day got another email saying sink is set to ship with tracking number, was it HD, or Kohler. Got sink 10.31.16, took home and next day wasgoing to install and found no drains with sink, are you kidding me $1350,00 for sink and no drains or anyone from HD to say hey you need to order drains as well. Gerry ordered overnight and I received 3 sets of drains. 11-3-16 date to install sink onto cabinet they ordered, found out front apron sink will not fit into base cabinet they ordered for me, how was I to know it would not work, maybe an associate should of told me as well, hey that sink requires a special cabinet, nope another let down. Here it is 11-9-16 and still trying to rebuild cabinet to fit sink, pulled all other cabinets out and put new ones in space, now I have a 19 inch opening that is suppose to fit a 24 inch wide cabinet they ordered from their measurement??????. Cant get template for granite until sink is installed , looks like maybe by Christmas I will have my kitchen completed, 5 months later. Beware All I can say is the 3-5 times per week I USED to shop there, I will make the road trip across town to Lowes or Menards. #beyondfrustrated.

My biggest problem is with the appliance delivery. Before Thanksgiving I ordered a new stove. They were supposed to deliver it today (12/17/13). My current stove had broken so I was looking forward to receiving it especially since I have family coming for Christmas to stay with me. Im told that there are no stoves available (sold more than what they have in stock) and cant deliver it until 12/30/13. They couldnt provide me with a decent alternative that could be delivered before Christmas. And since they waited until the week before Christmas options at other stores are limited and not deliverable before Christmas either. Ive waited 3 weeks already and they couldnt tell me before now so I can find alternatives? Customer service was a nightmare trying to talk to people and jumping through their hoops. I was on hold for nearly an hour twice with Home Depot and Maytag. Home Depot doesnt care. I barely received a sorry and they screwed up my Christmas dinner that Im supposed to cook. Ill never give another dime to Home Depot. Ive shopped with Lowes before and their delivery was flawless.

My husband and I went into the store this afternoon to look for several things. I dont find this store user friendly. Could hardly find anyone to answer questions and then they didnt know much about the items in question. We found a display of new toilets in boxes, but the display isle was several isles down and that particular toilet was not on display. There wasnt one canister sweeper on display. Couldnt find the ladder I wanted. Was interested in a new kitchen stove, a sweeper, a freezer, a ladder and came out of there with nothing. Sorry, but not sure Ill go back to try again. Edna

I went to Home Depot for three things and they had none of them. The store is not laid out well, staff was impossible to find and when I did find someone they were arrogant and had absolutely no idea how to help me. I drove over to Lowes in West Lansing, spent less than ten minutes in the store, got all three things, two people greeted me, and everyone smiled and was friendly. Save yourself the hassle and drive to a better store. Ive been to Home Depot once after this trip and had the same, arrogant, non experienced behavior out of the staff.
