My parents and I have been patronizing Horrocks Market since the late 1990s. Only recently have we been going there regularly for the bulk honey, the Horrocks brand milk (like MooVille but cheaper), the produce, the garden supplies, and sometimes the sit-in bar and the hot soup area. The products are overall very reasonably priced considering their upper-level quality. I know that shop has undergone many rearrangements of their layout, because the building has suffered depreciation due to aging. But I think it is great that everything is on the main floor, which is in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act. More people in wheelchairs have been going to Horrocks because of this. Also, it is great that Horrocks has products of many cultures, including Asian, German, and Hispanic. Some of the employees are Spanish-speaking, and fluent in English, and some might know a little bit of another language, Im sure. Anyway, Horrocks is a very diversity-friendly shop. If you happen to be in Battle Creek, and you need a few grocery items, try Horrocks.

Im from Colorado....yeah "we" have Whole Foods....but you all have HORROCKS!!! Ive spent hours wandering the green houses....even take home plants for my yard (survival of the fittest....I live in the mountains at 7,000 feet!!!) This winter there was a piano player snuggled in with the books...near the coffee....WOW...WOW....I thought I was in heaven.....then poked my head through the clouds...bought my own Horrocks cloth bag to remind me of this wonderful place when Im back home! I have been a Horrocks shopper for over a decade. I am somewhat of a Horrocks-fanatic. I started at the one in Lansing, then GR, and now Battle Creek. I actually drive a half hour to the Battle Creek Horrocks once a month to pick up my produce for the month. Their produce prices are very reasonable and seem to last a lot longer than the other grocery stores. Plus, Horrocks has a bar in which you can purchase a glass of wine or beer and walk around with it while doing your shopping! Thats pretty awesome and really the only reason my husband will go grocery shopping with me. They recently put in a sushi bar as well!

This is my favorite grocery store. Its not the best place to get meat and dairy, but if youre looking for fresh produce its the best place in town. They have a wide selection of beers and wines, along with a bar where you can have a taste! The gentlemen working there was very knowledgeable and let me try a few. They have some more obscure things, like canned tomatillos, too. Their soup bar is fantastic and theyve added sushi now, as well. You can get salads, wraps, and sandwiches, too. They have a floral department and even some foreign confection delicacies in the check out aisles. Highly recommend!

Love Horrocks in Battle Creek. 30 beers on tap that you can enjoy while shopping for stuff that you cant find very easily elsewhere... Ill take it. If you are looking for a shiny clean store... dont go there. If you are looking to drink a really fresh double ipa while buying sushi, interesting varieties of cheese, produce you didnt know existed or landscape plants... go there. If you are shopping for common grocery store items... dont go there because you will need to fill out a police report after being robbed... the prices are really high. Very friendly staff and a lot of unique items.

This place doesnt try to be a supermarket and carry everything. For example if you need diapers, laundry detergent, or batteries you wont find it here--youll need to head across the street to K-Mart. That focus is what makes Horrocks my favorite place to shop for food. You can get just the food you need, and get it so much faster. Or you grab a drink from the bar to enjoy while you shop. But you dont have to walk a quarter mile to get to the eggs and milk like you do in the big brand supermarkets.

This is one of the best local grocers Ive ever had the pleasure of frequenting. They fill a huge variety of niches, from gardening, plants and landscaping to local and imported cheeses. Fresh produce, local when in season, a beer and wine tasting area, a full lunch bar with many hot, homemade soups, and a fresh sushi bar! They have fresh cut flowers and balloons, an elaborate bulk chocolate, candy and snack area, as well as fresh ground peanut and almond butters. I absolutely love this store!

The best variety of fruit, vegetables, and other things I cannot find at any other store. The prices are sometimes a little higher, but I am willing to pay to find cheeses, fruits, and other goodies that are hard to find in other stores. The place was like a wake up call for all other stores. Its like somewhere between a fruit market, whole foods, and walmart all mixed into one. They have sushi, and other things that are very goodies. I love going there!

This is a good store but generally disappointed after going to the Lansing location. Lack of variety and product here when compared to Lansing, especially in the specialty items and bakery category. No artisan or local breads, just stuff youd find at a walmart or meijer. Edit: I realize they do have homemade bagels from a local vendor, and they are very good bagels. But would like to see more!!

I have never been so upset. I have been a Horrocks customer for over 15 years and I will no longer shop at the store. They have opened a section to produce drugs. Growing supplies for marijuana. I have always been a loyal shopper because they were of high moral value. Now they are compromising this for a quick buck. Lets get the class back Horrocks and you will get this customer back.

Love, love, love Horrocks. I dont live as close to Battle Creek anymore and I miss it terribly. Their selection of fruits and vegetables is great for the price. I dont know how they can sell their produce so cheap. Great greenhouse too, and it is fun to shop upstairs if you have the time. Also I should mention, they are a good place for buying reasonably priced bird food and bird feeders.

Enormous, but not overwhelming, selection of fresh fruit and vegetables all of which are generally priced very well making it affordable for those on a small budget to get a good amount of fresh food for their families. Huge selection of cheeses, craft beers domestic and foreign. Theres even a beer bar. Highly recommend a trip to this lil jewel of Battle Creek

They have a great variety of locally sourced food as well as unusual, hard to find items. Many bulk food choices and bulk bird food too! You can make fresh peanut butter and pour however much honey you want into a container. A good selection of plants, bushes, shrubs and other outdoor items. Oh and you can drink wine or beer while shopping!

Fresh produce, "open air" type shopping, incredibly friendly & helpful associates, wine & beer bar, clean restrooms, sushi bar, craft made candies, unbelievable selection(s) of vegetables & fruit, seasonal garden plants, seeds, trees, shrubbery, berry plants, just go and experience it for yourself. Oh yes, free coffee while you shop!

A very cute Farmers market style grocery store. Has a fun candy selection and lots of varied produce. Beautiful flower section and a huge fridge filled with cheese. Not a place to do not regular grocery shopping, though you can grab staple items here. They even ask paper or plastic. Ill definitely be back the next time Im in town.
