I honestly have no idea why people like this place or rate it so highly.. The owner is rude and has no patience unless you buy what he recommends. The place is dirty, and everything is way over priced.. I have called before looking for a product and their response was " Just come in we are very busy right now ". I would much rather drive to Framingham ( Tropic Isle ) for the kind customer service alone.. I called Tropic Isle and the guy stayed on the phone with me for 45 minutes.. I appreciate this, due to saving me a far ride.. I live closer to Quincy, but would rather spend more in gas than to give this place a dollar of my money.. Be aware who you are giving your money to.. Time will always tell the truth.. I give it a year the way this guy runs his business and treats his customers..

After trying various large chain stores that were local to me I tried Lovely Pets. The outside really wasnt anything to look at but I went inside anyway. I was amazed by how many different types of fish they had. Everyone that worked there seemed to know everything, at least what I needed help with as far as making my water quality better. I began to start a new fish tank and they helped me get the water quality to the right levels so I could introduce some African Cichlids. I live I the north shore and for me to go to the store is probably like a 20 minute drive. The trip is definitely worth it and I suggest this store to anyone looking for a fish store that wont let you down.

Ive been an avid aquarium hobbyist since 1973, and I have seen most aquarium specialty stores around this area over the years. Lovely Pets is one of the last great Aquarium shops around. Their fish selection is always extensive. I often say a trip to Lovely Pet is like a free visit to the New England Aquarium. Its unfathomable to me why some reviewer have been so negative. I think some people are simply complainers and cant help showing their ignorance. The people who are so down on this mom and pop business should simply go their own way back to petco and amazon - something nice and clean and corporate. Leave the good old real aquarium store to the less hateful Aquarists.

This establishment had a very large selection of fresh and salt water fish plus corals. And the prices on all of them were more than reasonable. The store was over an hour from where I live, and i will not go anywere else from this point on.The customer service and prices were outstanding, and knowledge was beyond perfect. I asked trick questions to try and stump them involving live stock, fish behavior, and acclimatization, and every question was answered perfectly. I highly recommend going to this store to get an aquarium started, or add fish to an existing aquarium . Because they go above and beyond to help experienced and new beginners make their tanks thrive!!!

Yes, this store has a lot of selection and its staff is very knowledgeable, but its still a store. their employees will push you to buy more than you will need. I came to look at their triggerfish, and they are EXPENSIVE. do your research online FIRST and only buy the thing that you need. also, some of their animals, especially the freshwater animals and the saltwater decorative animals(corals, live rocks, and cleanup crew) are overpriced. overall, Id say this place is good to browse and learn but you should plan to buy here if you exhausted all other options.

This is a great store, whether you are a fish novice looking to start a 10 gallon community tank, or if youve got a mature ocean tank and are looking for that perfect new addition. The staff is highly knowledgeable about everything they stock, and freely gives candid advice about fish pairings, water chemistry, and habitats. Water tests are free, and the staff is likely to encourage you *not* to buy an expensive fish if you arent confident about your water quality. We drive farther to get to this store than for any other shopping. The trip is worth it.

A fellow salt water hobbyist told me to go to Lovely Pets because in his experience they have the healthiest fish. I went and he was correct. From the time I walked in until checkout, I was treated like a guest who wanted to learn more about fish and corals. Steve and his wife have a wealth of knowledge and my tank is doing great because of their great advise. I bought two fish so far and 4 different corals. They are all doing great. I highly recommend this fish business to anyone, from the beginner to expert.

Bought an African Cichlid, was told it eats feeders and gets along with my pleko. not true, it did not eat the feeders and it attacked my pleko almost to death. Then i called and offered to return the fish, i was going to buy another one but the woman on the phone accused me of lying, telling me "no one on in the store would give you that information" although i walked out just a few days before with the cichlid and a bag of feeders (also i suggest referencing Case Coopers comment below, very very accurate)

First words upon entering the store, "this is so cool, I feel like we are on a field-trip." Great customer service, all the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Had a great time walking around looking at all the fish before learning about which fish, the betta, could actually be kept in a bowl. Overall great experience and plan to return to the Lovely Pets Aquarium. Dont let the outside of this place fool you! Walk in and you wont regret it. Good luck finding your next pet fish.

Fish for the most part is ok, though one died right after I brought her home. female owner is extremely rude and will force you to do whatever she thinks is right. She almost makes you feel bad if you dont listen to her???? She thinks she some kind of freaking guru. Reefing is not exact science. The guy is much more pleasant and he will listen to you and try to understand your expectations. Place is super dirty. All the equipment is twice as expensive in comparison to amazon.

Bought a few small koi from there they were in excellent shape and they ever had outdoor pond plants which was awesome. Owner is nice easy going guy and his works, do wish the prices on the bigger koi were a little cheaper but over all nice place to visit and shop.Website is horrible tho needs updating and theres no information on anything you click they need to keep up with it because their site doesnt reflect the store at all!

I am SO impressed with the level of customer service at this store! I came in as a "fish novice" and both of the owners were so helpful in getting me set up with a tank that was both low-maintenance and filled with beautiful fish! They are so knowledgeable, friendly, and set you up to succeed! If you are looking for a place to get beautiful healthy fish, and great customer service, look no further!

Extremely helpful and knowledgeable, healthy looking fish, and very reasonable prices. The store location is a little hidden and the store itself is a little disorganized and messy, but to be honest, I never trust a clean pet store, nature is not sterile and pristine tanks are usually stressful places for fish. I highly recommend this store.
