STAY AWAY FROM THE BIKE REPAIR--BRING IT TO A REAL BIKE SHOP!!! They will replace parts and do work without authorization and charge you for it!!!! My experience: I brought in my bike to get the Gold tune-up service done and they said it would be completed on Tues 6/3. I received a phone call at 6PM on Tuesday telling me my bike was ready and informing me that my front derailleur was rusted and needed to be replaced and when I picked it up I owed an additional $23 on work I had not authorized. I dont believe this work needed to be done as I had inspected the derailleur before I brought it in and I believe it was fine. When I asked them to produce the original part for me to see, they couldnt find the original part. I couldnt take my bike without paying, and the manager was out. The salesperson promised me that the manager would call me to settle the issue, but I have not received a call in the week since I picked up the bike. Im going to escalate this with REI, but thought that a online review would also help others. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Everyone has an opinion and not all of them are correct. I went in to buy a water bladder for backpack. Three different salespeople and three different opinions with no definitive answer. I would have been better off staring at the packing and randomly choosing one. Warranty replacement and exchange varies widely depending on salesperson. Often items on their website are not available in store. Prefer to try on hiking shoes before I buy them. Location conveniently located near Quincy but given the 1 year or less warranty tempted to make the longer driver to LL Bean.

You cant try on a coat because they are all roped together for security. You have to find a sales associate and that isnt easy. This is because the Derby Shops are constantly victimized by petty criminals who shoplift everything that isnt roped down. Most stores in Derby Shops dont want you to know that, so they dont report incidents. Anyway, this makes for a miserable shopping experience.

Friendly,very knowledgeable folks in the bike sales and repair area. They helped me get ready for my first Pan Mass Challenge and the custom bike fit is worth the money. The store return policy is outstanding....satisfaction guaranteed or return it and they re-sell it in their semin-annual garage sale which is a great event!

Came into the store confused on what would be the best gear for me, got assistants on looking for the right sleeping bag. I even learned a thing or two while there. Became a lifetime member of rei and will only be shopping there for my outdoor gear in the future

Great staff here! More concerned about you getting what you want/need, than making a sale which is refreshing. Very good selection, not quite as big as the store in Boston, but the staff more than makes up for it.
