Lady Grace has just lost a long-time customer. I have always purchased my bras at Lady Grace, and been happy with my purchases, despite the negative experience several friends had had shopping there. On June 10th, I went to Lady Grace to find a longline bra for a wedding July 20th (Im maid-of-honor). The customer service rep was very helpful, fitting me for 6 different variations in one brand and 3 in another, before we found a pretty good fit. She told me I was between sizes though, and, as the bra is lace and I didnt have a dress yet, I should try the bra under a dress to ensure the lace didnt show and the bra cups didnt peek out (they run large in the Goddess brand). I took the bra to Lord & Taylor, picked a dress off the rack and took both to their dressing room to try them on. The bra was bulky and the boning was visible under the dress, so I decided to exchange it for a smaller size, that would fit better. I took the bra back to the Brookline Lady Grace within the exchange period, still in the original packaging where itd stayed since I tried it on. I expected to have a simple exchange, but instead, ended up standing at the counter in front of two customer service reps who ignored me for 10 minutes, while one talked on the phone and the other counted money and read through receipts. When one of the reps finally hung up, she turned away from me, faced the woman whod just approached the counter, and politely asked her how she could help her. Wondering if Id been snubbed because Im a woman of color and the other customer was Caucasian, I pointed out Id been waiting and had been there first, and explained that Id like to exchange the bra for a smaller size. The rep fetched her boss, the assistant manager, Lisa, who proceeded to point and sneer at imaginary signs of wear on the bra, then insisted to me that I must have worn it and they wouldnt accept the return. I explained that I hadnt worn it, as the wedding I bought it for hadnt happened yet, and had only tried it on for size. I also objected to what she claimed were signs of wear (photos attached!). She insisted that I was in essence, a liar and cheat, as it had clearly been worn and that they wouldnt honor their exchange policy. I contacted their customer service number and was referred to the owner of Lady Grace, Audrey, who reiterated that they wouldnt honor the return as she "trusted" Lisas judgment, and she refused to examine the bra herself for the wear Lisa claimed was present. I got a similar response e-mailing and Facebook-messaging the company. I dont appreciate being accused of fraud. If Id been happy enough with the bra to wear it around, I wouldnt have been in the store trying to exchange it for another size! I have since discovered that this bait-and-switch practice is common at Lady Grace, resulting in numerous BBB complaints against them for this exact thing; promising to accept a return/exchange then refusing to over claims the item was worn. If you dont want to accept exchanges/returns, then change your policy, Lady Grace! Ive spent a lot of money at their store over the years, but they wont get another dime of mine. And like multiple other reviewers mentioned, I also felt Id have gotten different treatment had I been White. Perhaps this business belongs in an environment where they wont be forced to serve people of color, since that seems to be an issue. Shame on you, Lady Grace.

The woman that helped my mother was not very friendly and fit her incorrectly. The reason we went here was so she could have a professional fitting. I worked in a lingerie department in college, but choose to have someone else fit my mum. The woman did not seem to understand what my mum wanted in a posture bra and was confused when she asked about other styles and colours. Wasted trip. The one in Waltham is way better and Rosann is so much better! So sweet and helpful, very caring and professional. Very understanding and accommodating. Go there if you can. She fit my mother properly and was able to order the colour and styles we were looking for! I will say the Brookline location is easy to get to, right off the green line, close to parking off center street lot, and seems to be somewhat dog friendly. The lady at the register, where we purchased something else was very nice. Just not the (Hispanic?) upper middle aged woman who helped my mum.

Wow! What a difference between coming here and going to your typical big box retail store. The store was well-stocked, well-organized, with plenty of selection. Clean dressing rooms and friendly staff! Purchased winter tights and a camisole. Ill be returning soon for more.
