its an ok store. If you want to "look the part" when youre off hiking. Knocking off some stars for it being kind of a poser store. Its not a serious outdoor store, but it couldnt survive as a brick and mortar retailer if it was. Its light duty compared to 30 years ago. Also, Ive gone there a few times looking for boots. their prices are typical and I can actually try them on... Well, thats not true is it. They have so far NEVER had my size in stock in any of the boots I was interested in. I wear a common size. 11.5, so if there was a sale or something, sure, theyd be the first to sell out. but, you order more of the size you sell more of. Last time "sorry the biggest size we have in those is 8". Another guy was there that took a size 10. He got the same story about every shoe he asked about. we tried to get our shoes in 8 different colors and models between us and none were available. Again, this isnt isolated. i have been there several times for myself, my wife and my kids. NEVER walked out with boots. At least I get hands on the materials. Ask the worker how the shoes fit. Let em measure my feet etc.. then order from zappos or amazon for the same price I could have gotten from EMS, but they dont stock.

Do not rent Kayaks or buy roof racks!!! 1. Simple line of events ordered roof rack... they did not get all of the parts in or so they thought. 2. Rented kayaks gave me a 64" 250lbs person a kayak for a 150lb person 3. Strapped my kayak to my roof while i was checking out since they did not think they got the parts in. 4. Come outside to find the employee put the cushion on my sunroof and cranked it down, at this time the sunroof did not close to the exact same location as it used to. 5. after my alarm going off in a thunderstorm and not being able to identify the issue i took the car to a ship they did not figure out the problem. thought lightning may have hit near the car 6. again the alarm is going off when snow begins to melt, take the car to the shop find out water is leaking through the sunroof down the a piller into the fuse box. 7. They say do to the fact I am a reasonable person and did not make them take the car directly to be repaired they are not going to fix the issue. 8. couple thousand dollar problem I have to take to my insurance company Stay away!!!!!

Absolutely the worst repair work I have ever had in my 40 years. I took the bike in for a tuneup as it had not been ridden in a year or two and the "Manager" Paul said he had been in the business for years and would have it in perfect order for less than $80.00. He sure seemed to know what he was talking about... but... Well let me tell you, it was not ready when it was supposed to be and it was not tuned up as well as my handyman husband could do as he had to fix the problems left unfixed, so they would work correctly. The problems were shifting (chain actually kept coming off the large front sprocket) and the brakes (front brake would not function at all) . What a waste of time and money. I do NOT recommend them for service. I did not want to give them a one star but that was the lowest I could give them! My husband though gets 5 stars and he doesnt even work in this business...

While I was able to clumsily navigate purchasing two kayaks and related equipment, Im not sure Ive ever experienced a more seemingly brain dead and useless set of employees. One salesperson was helpful and pleasant and finally got my purchase completed, but others with whom I engaged were either incompetent, stoned, or simply didnt give a _ _ _ _. One actually told me he only worked there for the discount and couldnt/wouldnt authorize replacement of a broken piece on the seat of my NEW kayak, even though there were several options visible. The store carries first class equipment but be prepared for an "interesting" experience dealing with the staff. BTW, good luck dealing with the manager, I didnt because it seems hes always at lunch.

Worse customer service I have ever experienced!!! I purchased a jacket on sale. When I unboxed it, there was a pulled thread. Contacted customer service to get it exchanged and they told me to take pictures an attach to email. It took them multiple days to reply just tell me to send it to another company to get it fixed. Completely, ridiculous! Why do they think its ok to send damaged merchandise to customers and then have them get it fixed. Nothing said it was damaged, so why are they expecting me to pay for it! I will never buy anything thing from this EMS again!

I went in to buy a pair of trail running shoes, which I had never bought before but was doing so for knee protection. I was lucky enough to get Ariel as my salesperson. She was polite, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fantastic. She was able to answer all my questions, and immediately produced three pairs for me to try on and even jog thru the store to get a feel for them. She provided me the benefit of her personal experience, which was also a help. I got the right shoes for me in a minimal amount of time. Thank you!!

I find the staff very friendly and helpful. I always find something I like there from clothing to shoes to equipment - like a paddle board. Highly recommend EMS. Their own brand is very high quality.

Save the frustration and money, youll find more knowledgeable staff at places that arent nearly so full of themselves. Youll be lucky to leave with what you need or ask for.

Decent selection of gear and clothing and better than average kayak section. Gives great military discount, thanks for supporting the troops!

Its like REI, so its expensive, but if you are their target demographic, its worth it.
