I went to the Petco in Topsham to pick up supplies for my new hermit crab habitat, for which I had done a lot of research on my own ahead of time. The only thing I wasnt sure of was the salt concentration (or salinity/gravity) of the salt water I needed to provide in a dish in addition to the fresh water I would provide. After asking a young man that worked there, he asked me if I would "be here a minute" so he could check with his supervisor. He seemed confident that his supervisor would be able to answer this question. Ten minutes later, while I stood there waiting with my daughter, he came back with an iced coffee and no answer to my question or any clue that he had even asked a supervisor. Absolutely ridiculous & very poor customer service. He pretty much used my question as an excuse to take a break & get an iced coffee. I ended up finding the answers I needed online after I left Petco very frustrated. I will never bother going here again - I know I can get all the supplies I need online. If the people who work here arent interested in answering questions then theres no reason to waste my time.

Would have gotten more stars if, the last time I was there, I hadnt had to shout multiple times for an employee, then stand at the register for so long without a soul in sight, that I was ready to simply walk out and never go back. Ive noticed, the few times Ive been, that theres never anyone around to help. Usually at Petco theres always someone around to help, in multiple areas of the store. I dont think Ill be going back, in fact, I only went last time because theyre the only Petco within 35 minutes of me.

The customer service associates are very nice and super helpful. Theyre genuine in helping people. Theyre also knowledgeable about the products they sell and if they dont know the answer or unsure of the information, they work to find the right answers.
