Short version: Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders, great selection, reasonable prices for the offered products. Long version: Ive been going to LBS since shortly after they opened and Ive yet to have a bad experience there (or at least one that was caused by them - I cant blame them for the occasional customer doing something annoying). The bartenders, even when new, know their stuff and are friendly. If youre new to beer (or craft beer), they can point you in the right direction based on what you do like. Obviously it helps if you can describe the particular aspects you like/dislike as well, but they were able to help me back when all I knew was I liked Guinness. The prices might be a touch higher at times than some other places for the same stuff, but the difference has been negligible when Ive noticed it (maybe I dont drink the same beers as some of the other reviewers). If youre used to drinking Bud or Miller, youll definitely be in for some sticker shock, but youre paying for quality here, not quantity. Im sure I sound a bit biased, but theres a reason I keep going back. Highly recommended.

We walked by after dinner, checking out the area stores along Market, and I was so excited to see a store full of imported beer. I love trying new beers. The 2 guys in the store may have been getting ready to close and these two bozos made it clear we werent welcome. When I told them what I drank so they had an idea of my taste, they mocked it. Leinenkuegl, Sunset Wheat. I wanted to try other beers, and would have spent $50 easy, and they gave us the cold shoulder. Another in the party asked about a German beer he had when he lived in Germany, and their response was that the Co did not export their beer. They never recommended a similar product. My buddy was a serious beer drinker and very knowledgable. They obviously were ready to close. If a late $50-75 sale is not needed, I am glad your doing so well. I only hope neither were an owner of this place.

I have not been very happy with my experiences with LBS. While they have a good selection, they are significantly higher priced than other places. As a consumer, the biggest complaint for me is that they dont keep regular hours. I hate driving all the way downtown only to have a hand written sign on the door reading they wont open, or they will open at a certain time, or that they will open "sometime" today. Sometimes its 30-40 minutes after opening hours and there is no sign and the store is just dark. This happens to me on a monthly basis. Having good beer in stock is worthless if your customers cannot consistently get in to buy them.

Absolutely the best place to purchase beer in this city. I take pride in having an extraordinarily diverse roster of family, friends and professional contacts. I take delight in knowing that all of the above listed people can take are head over heels in love with the the same wonderful, cozy and diverse establishment. This is one of the places in Louisville that makes me proud to live here, and Ive nothing but raves reviews from my nearest and dearest. I will say that the Louisville Beer Store, like the best of them, does not suffer fools...which would explain anything short of the very tippy-top best reviews!

I wish there were more places like this. Super cool bottle shop with a great selection and 5 or 6 really interesting taps, with a $1 bottle fee and a spectacular patio. Nothing fancy, but you can get a great drink and enjoy it in a relaxing, carefree space, and then take a few home if youd like!

Great selection and very knowledgeable staff. Theres even a place to have a pint on tap. Note to staff: I wasnt expecting to see a line for tip on my receipt after buying only retail. Its a bit awkward, and I have no idea what to do in that situation.

Unrivaled selection of imported and craft beers for bottle purchase. Rotating selection of beers on tap and snack plate available to anyone wanting to enjoy outdoor seating. I always stop by when Im in NuLu. I recommend for travelers!!

The LBS, sounds like something out of a rap album, has a great selection with a knowledgeable staff. Cant say enough good things about Tyler and Lori and cant thank them enough for fighting the good fight through education and a beer.
