Stick to what you know best - baking. (I hope) I visited this place a few years ago and had some delicious baklava. Since I was in the area, I had hoped to get it again but they no longer make it? The baked breads and desserts always look great but I have yet to try any.... I decided on having lunch. There were a few daily specials and I chose to have the turkey club sandwich that comes with side soup or salad, and a bag of chips for $7.99. Turkey made in house for the sandwich. Sounds great, doesnt it? Choice of bread, I decided on sun-dried tomato and had it toasted with mayo. Theres a display case with salads to choose from - pasta, tuna, curry chicken, and fruit. Ill be honest - you can immediately tell they werent made today. They look dry and either need to be stirred, checked for freshness or all of the above. Even the fruit salad was wilted. No way this was made today and I was there at 11am. I picked curry chicken salad. (It looked the best out of the bunch) The staff is very friendly, the lady gave me my side salad with crackers to start while I waited for my sandwich to be made. Adjacent to the bakery/deli is a seating area. I went over and sat down and noticed cute little older ladies sitting at a few tables playing cards. Adorable! Any way, the curry chicken salad was seasoned well, I could taste the curry, it had a great crunch to it - red onions, celery and grape but the chicken was dry, very dry. Like when you over cook a chicken breast and it flakes and crumbles apart making it chewy. I hear my name and a woman comes out of the back holding the plate - almost extending her arm for me to come get it. I met her half way. Sat down and noticed water on half of my plate. The sandwich came with a few pickles on the side, but the water wasnt from the pickles - it was water coming out of the dishwasher and sitting on top of other wet plates. The sandwich was barely toasted, I mean it kissed the toaster and walked away. Only one side of the bread had mayo and it came with lettuce and tomato. I took off the bread on one side because the lettuce didnt look appetizing at all. It was wilted romaine. Sometimes you get romaine lettuce and need to peel off a few leaves to get to the good stuff. This was neither. The tomato was paper thin and mushy. It wasnt sliced today. I could bet it was sitting in the fridge since the weekend. I removed the lettuce and tomato from the sandwich. The turkey was dry. I ended up putting the curry chicken salad in it because it desperately needed moisture. Im sorry this isnt a good review, but you really need to work on the quality of your ingredients or do without lunch completely. Not a pastrami sandwich to be found on your menu, so odd because youre a deli.

My wedding was June of 2017 and at first Heitzmans was the perfect caterer for both my cake and my food I was really looking forward to it because the food we tasted was fantastic and the service was amazing. Then came the day of, we called to see what time everything was going to be delivered and I have never received such disrespect and attitude from Dan. He never answered my husbands question about what time everything was going to be delivered so I gave them a call and a worker answered and then told me Dan already spoke to someone about this matter so he would not speak to me and I was given Marguerite number. As she ended up being helpful, everything still didnt go as it was supposed to. When they got there to set up my bartender asked the set up crew where the cake was, they proceeded to say that it was going to be delivered later after giving her a look of confusion. My cake was delivered at 345 (15 minutes after my reception had started) there was no groomsmen cake. My dad gave them a call and they had no idea where the cake was, after not receiving a call back my brother and I called asking about the groomsmen cake. They said it was delivered to a different venue. At 630pm the groomsmen cake was delivered and was a very detailed cake and look good but you could bluntly tell that it had been touched and messed with. The delivery lady told me and my mom that she just picked it up and brought it here. Being that the cake had been messed with I denied the cake, my husband walked up and she proceed to tell him that they had just remade it (which was impossible being how detailed the cake was). After that I go and cut my wedding cake during my reception and its the wrong flavor and wrong decorations. After all said and done my dad called the bakery and never got a call back from Marguerite. He ended up emailing her a week later and finally got a response and she never once apologized for the mistake and kept defending the situation. The food was decent but the biggest part of a caterer is the wedding cake and Ive never had such a bad experience before. Not only was my cake delivered late, we didnt even receive the correct cake.

Hired for a wedding and grooms cake. It wasnt until we had already put our deposit down that the problems began. Communication and getting in contact with the cake designers was horrible. Calls were not returned, emails were ignored, and all employees had a different answer for every question. Everyone seemed indifferent towards your needs and you were simply treated like number. Every reply to every email indicated I wasnt not remembered as a client. I was assured the grooms cake could be done (I was hesitant because they hadnt done it before), but it really looked nothing like the several images I sent. And because the icing color was grey and the cake did not look like han solo frozen carbonite, it was ugly. Details that were specified on the grooms cake were overlooked and when they were called the day of the wedding about it they said they would come and correct the issue (it was simply words written with icing). No one ever showed so my grooms cake looked like a grey block missing key words that would indicate the reference for what it was. The wedding cake was beautiful (thank god for the pictures) but the vanilla layer and chocolate layers were dry and seemed older than the strawberry and red velvet flavors. Many of my guests noticed and frankly it was embarassing. I would rather them have been upfront and honest if they were over worked and could not do my wedding cake and/or designs so I could have had a product I was happier with. Rather than taking my money and doing a seemingly half assed job. Too bad there wont be a next time since you only get married once.

I asked them to make 12 cookies for my daughters 7th birthday party. They were supposed to have a white pearl border around them and when I arrived to pick them up they had no border around them. I asked them to please put the white pearl border around them and referred to the picture I sent to them. They came out of the back with tiny white dots all on the icing of the cookie, like polka dots not a border. I included the picture with the cookie I wanted. It has a gold crown on it, I asked them to replace that with her initials in silver with a glimmer effect. I absolutely asked time and again for that border to be either candy pearls or a pearl looking border with frosting. I am disappointed in this place, because I have heard nothing but good things about them, yet they seem to not care about quality. I will not be using their services again for anything important. Another thing to be careful about was that they insisted they take my card over the phone for payment before they could proceed with my order. They had not yet charged my card when I arrived and had my card number and info out on paper for anyone to see.
