When you walk into Sugar and Spice, you dont first hear "hello" or "good morning". You hear "this is all we have." On the Monday morning we went, the store opened at 5 AM, and would be open until noon. It was just before 9 oclock when we showed up, planning to try some of the donuts wed heard so much about. Instead, we were told they were already out of donuts, and had been for about an hour. Donut holes? Dont get me started. You cannot operate a bakery without something to sell. This location was planning on being open another 3+ hours with zero of their namesake product available for purchase, and that doesnt sit right with me. It feels almost misleading to say that your hours are 5 - 12, when you know very well that you will be sold out by 10. Its really very simple: make more donuts. I know youre not trying to be Krispy Kreme and I think thats great, good for you, but the fact of the matter is that KKs donuts are honestly nearly as good, and Im a lot more likely to get something thats hot and fresh. There are worse things in the world, I know, but this is America and donuts are important.

Sugar & Spice is the best donut shop in Louisville! Donuts are usually moist, rich, and creamy. It is a locally owned shop, not a large chain. Their donuts are different than every other donut shop Ive been to. My favorites are their many types of long johns. They arent creme filled, but its okay because of the great toppings on them. They also have muffins and round custard and jelly filled donuts too. They have milks and coffees too. There are a few tables to eat at, but my girlfriends and I always sit at the large bar and chit-chat. The staff is very helpful and will tell you all the ingredients in their donuts and will remember you if you visit regularly.

Their doughnuts are mediocre and the lady who helped us was very rude! I base all doughnut taste tests on the classic plain glazed doughnut. This could be the place for a bubble gum sprinkled doughnut, I wouldnt know. My thing is if you cant get the classic right I wont be back. Other people had reviewed the staff as friendly, we did not have that same experience. It could have been a bad day, but thats no excuse. Prices were good.

OMG the doughnuts are amazing and they have MANY flavors (personal favorite is the cookie dough topped doughnut) they are the only shop and they open early and people know it they are open till they sell out (noon-ish) the doughnuts are amazing because they are light and not heavy or oily thats what sets them apart from other doughnut shops

Good donuts but maybe under new management. My family used to get donuts every weekend but for the past 2 month you come in at 9 and theres 4 donuts to pick from when they dont close until 2 ? Where not talking chocolate or glaze or long Johns just cream filled and cocunt .Its disappointing since weve been going here since I was a kid.

This place use to be great! Now the staff has a horrible attitude! And the jelly filled donuts have only a dime size of jelly! We also asked for cream filled long Johns which were labeled right in front of her and she said they dont fill them with cream. The past 2 times have been a horrible experience and we will not return!

I used to come here all the time not now! Everytime Ive been theres nothing in stock! I went at 7am nope nothing. Its a joke. It seems like management doesnt care. Staff seems like they dont want to be there. Hopefully a new manager will come in and fix the issues. Until then they will lose business.

The shop is very clean and nice. Employees are friendly. Donuts we received were good, but the selection is lacking. While I realize that places like this do tend to run out of stock, you shouldnt be left with 3 types at 9am. This is my opinion about this and feel like that is an easy fix.

Easily the best donut shop in town. Its a shame that they are not located more centrally in town. They run out of donuts in the early AM. Dont even dream of getting anything after 10:30!! Great people, great donuts, Id invest in a franchise if they wanted to do it!

Loved this place so much! Some of the best donuts Ive ever had. The donuts were fresh, and had unique homey taste to them. Some of the selections were definitely rich though. Maybe not for those who dont deal well with rich foods.

Delicious donuts in unique and interesting flavors (classics still available of course). Supply lasts for a good while even on weekends. Can have a bit of a wait, so I would suggest stopping by in the earlier parts of the morning.
