Aldi has a great set up. 4 aisles in the whole place, great place to grab basics for meals. Bread is awesome and under $2 a loaf, cheese blocks are under $2 as well. Vegetables can sometimes be a little hit or miss on how long they stay fresh, but Ive had good luck with my vegetables most times. I love that I can go and grab meat, vegetables, lunch items, eggs, etc for $80 and it lasts my husband and I for about 2 weeks with minor supplementation from other stores. They also have really done well in the organic/gluten free options. I have friends who have done gluten free for a variety of reasons and most of their products are great substitutions. I do know that gluten free cornbread was very sweet and almost cake like, so if thats not what you want from cornbread Id avoid that product. Pretzels and pasta were good though! Main reason I still go to other stores is that aldi is small and ethnic ingredients arent an option there, but I get basically everything else there and then go to specialty stores for the specific items needed.

Cant say enough great things about Aldi! Even when we travel, the first thing we do is "google" to find the nearest Aldi. The prices are phenomenal and the products are fantastic. We have 3 kids who have to brown bag it for lunches for summer jobs, and Aldi has the best prices on good quality cold-cuts and cheese for sandwiches, as well as the bread, fruits and veggies, chips and so on. We do not care for the Aldi-brand soda pop, but almost everything else is as good as or better than the national brand. For feeding a family on a budget, Aldi cant be beat!!

from my experience, this store has the cheapest price on poultry and other meats. chicken thigh was 99c/lbs yesterday(suppose to be the cheapest in ames) and most product was fresh and in good quality. other product was also in great pricing. pros: good pricing for foods, good meat quality, friendly service cons: doesnt give out plastic bags but they provides boxes. need to use 25Cents for the trolley.

My wife and I love it. She is able to find foods that fit under her food allergy much easier. The price on produce and other products beats hyvee most of the time. There are some items we might need to go get someplace else. But fo lr the most part we are able to primarily shop here.

Aldis is the best. Much cheaper than Hy-Vee or Fareway. Much less selection though. Produce is probably the best in town. Skip the meat and go to Fareway. Best sauerkraut Ive ever had. FAST! Takes me half the time to get groceries here than anywhere else.

Really appreciate their line of sustainable seafood, no MSG added, no Antibiotics products. Would like to see larger variety, but thats not Aldis scope. The prices are very competitive, especially for their organic foods.

Fresh vegetables for cheap. Though, they dont have few items including Eggplants. I am waiting for the newer Aldi yet to open in S 5th Street. Hope they will get more collection of vegetables and food items.

Always such a great bargain for fresh food. Bring your own bag and a quarter for the cart . If you forget bags, they often have cardboard boxes off to the side you can use
