My girl friend has asked me to help her boyfriend shop for a ring when the time is right. We met at a Clayton Jewelers to get her finger sized and look at a few potential rings. I love to help local businesses when I can. We were the only customers in Clayton Jewelers and were not even greeted when we came in. The guy hovered over us for a few minutes until I told him what we were looking at. When I asked to get her finger sized he said he wouldnt do it unless we bought a ring there. I asked to just get an idea not a specific number and he again stated he wouldnt do it because each ring is different. He said he has done this before and gotten bad reviews -- SO instead, your still getting a bad review AND your not getting our business. Instead of offering to try on a few rings and write the ring/size so I could bring the boyfriend back and already have the ring and the size, now Clayton Jewelers lost a potential sale. They didnt give me a card, they didnt write down the rings we were looking at, they didnt size her finger based on the few rings she did like and they lost not 1 but 3 customers. If I would have been alone Id have left immediately but I stayed to try to salvage my girl friends first experience looking at rings and try to make it a good experience. Once in a life time experience as she has never looked at engagement rings before - at no thanks to Clayton Jewelers she had a good day and I will be doing business elsewhere, hopefully those reading this will do the same.

Brought my platinum engagement ring to be resized and they seemed fairly confident in doing this. The day I got it back I thought the design had a crack in it because a curve in it extended into a distinct line, I thought I must have been overanalyzing even though I was sure it wasnt there before. A month later my ring fell off because I needed it smaller with how the top ended up not being completely circular so I started wearing it on my other ring finger because I didnt trust taking it to another jeweler. Then a few months later the main diamond became loose (platinum as a metal doesnt allow this so setting must have been reset loose on a side/sides and allowed the diamond to turn to become loose). Now that I found another jeweler I feel I can trust to resize it smaller they confirmed it was an obvious crack that had to have happened during resizing and I will need to pay extra to get platinum added to that area and reshaped into the design for this resizing. I wasted money here and damaged my ring some in the process. :(

I am a Purdue student soon to be graduating, and I decided to go visit the store to look for a possible graduation gift. After a bit a man comes out from the back room and I ask if I could have my finger sized. The first thing to come out of his mouth was "Are you purchasing a ring here?" My response was non-committal, as I wasnt purchasing anything that day because I wouldnt not be making the purchase--my parents would when they arrived in town. I attempted to explain, but in the meantime he points at the sign "We only size your finger if youre planning on buying your ring here" and SHRUGS without saying one thing to me. No one else was in his shop at that moment, and sizing a finger is a simple and quick operation. His verbal and non-verbal communication, unfortunately, literally brought me to tears. I realize that I was not purchasing an item that day, but due to his poor attitude and service I (including my family and friends) will NEVER be purchasing anything now from Clayton Jewelers, ever.

Good people, great customer service. Took a watch my father gave me in to be fixed after thoroughly destroying it, not only was the staff helpful and speedy about fixing it, they were affordable, professional and had it fixed in a week! Great jewelry selection too, Gf loved her vday gift, I wouldnt go anywhere else.
