I love coming here to peruse the books and magazines, especially the kids book selection. A few things that bother me about this location are (1) the mens room is seemingly always in need of attention or short on supplies; (2) the staff is extremely over-eager to sell some Nook tablets. I cant help but notice a gradual increase in annoying PA announcements about the Nook, and forget about trying to actually test a Nook out - within a minute youll be bombarded by a salesperson trying to sell you one. I only wish the general staff thats responsible for directing customers to books they cant find was as attentive as the Nook salespeople; (3) service at the cafe inside can be utterly slow at times. This location is, however, one of a few spots in the area to chill out and surf the web for free without interruption, which is a main reason why I keep coming back.

Its a book store and they have tables and chairs so people can study and read, which would be nice if they didnt keep treating their store like a community center and kicking people out so they can use the space for book signings and community theater. I was just in there, got up for some water and came back to see a jerk in a reddish polo shirt and idiotic hair moving my things from a table to a chair. Having completed this important task, he stepped back and explained to everyone that they were going to move all the tables for the South Bend Civic Theater- who has its own building and doesnt need to help Barnes & Noble ruin its store any faster than they are doing on their own. I told him it was really frustrating that they do this and he said "Goooooood!" in a voice as fruity and condescending as his hair is badly combed.

I had an unbelievable customer service experience at Barnes and Noble. It is amazing! To make a long story short, they had made an error on an order I had filled online. Three people tried to help me when I went to pick it up at the store, but it was something I needed right away so I left disgruntled. I received a phone call from Jim Emmons Community Business Development Manager, who 1. Gave me a deep discount 2. overnighted the order 3. Gift wrapped and delivered the order in person! Amazing. I am very appreciative as to how this was handled.

The staff are very willing to assist you in finding what you want, and they always ask if you need anything else, and if not, theyre more than happy to check you out personally. Makes you feel like you mean more than just being a customer. The experience was very one-to-one, personalized, and kind. I dont usually read, but my girlfriend does. So usually, Im here with her. They dont judge based on what you read, in fact, they might inquire as to what youre reading, perhaps with interest on reading it themselves. Very, very friendly.

Now that Borders is gone, B&N is the best bookstore in the South Bend, Indiana area. They have a great reading area and a comprehensive periodical section. The staff has always been helpful and very knowledgeable. This location does offer a Starbucks licensed (not the same as a Starbucks) cafe. Wireless connectivity can be unreliable. Parking at the University Park Mall must have been designed by someone with a sick sense of humor or total incompetence since getting in and out is beyond challenging during busy times.

Since they moved to the University Park Mall the WiFi is a lot better. It is a great place to read and browse books and the such. Love it. It is great to be able to sit and read then walk into the mall to get something to eat and then go back to the bookstore. Better than their old location where you had to drive somewhere to get something to eat. Greatest bookstore in South Bend/Mishawaka area.

Super clean, staff was nice and attentive to any questions. Was there until closing and never felt rushed...but did leave before they officially closed. Always glad to see a large selection in the clearance aisle as well! Nice location attached to mall if you need to continue shopping elsewhere.

The childrens section offered nothing new. The displays were of old titles and out of style reading. Had to hunt for non-fiction section. Used to be a premiere bookstore, now appears stuck in an arcane easy of thinking. I have not been in awhile. Disappointed, very disappointed.

Love to go there! Every time I leave there I feel inspired to write. Theres too many inappropriate books and aisles in there, unfortunately, but theres still a good selection. And a nice area for more juvenile and childrens books. Id go there all the time if I could.

Wide selection going way beyond books! Puzzles, games, DVDs, toys, and books for all ages and styles. How-to, fiction, puzzles, magazines, adult coloring books, self-help, graphic novels and some collectibles. Plus a coffee shop & reading area and digital section.

Typical bookstore. Lots of book signings. The employees here were not very polite during my visits. You might think that had just sat on a tack before they were inconvenienced by my questions.
