I rarely stop by this location simply because their customer service is horrible and incredibly rude. This location needs to realize that when people sell their things, thats money in the stores pocket. Everything we sell is profit for you. If your employees (hello T Cantrell, thanks for ringing me out because I needed your name for this) want to jump into another aisle and tell the customer "you know you dont have to take the offer if you dont like it" in the middle of a conversation they had NO part in, then I will take my money and tell others to take their money elsewhere. Anybody else want a fully functioning Nintendo wii for 17 bucks to mark it up and make profit for themselves? I love my Naperville store, the travel is just about the same, and if I want to continue supporting HPB, I will do it through them, not Orland. It doesnt matter how much you give me if your customer service is dirt. I got over the amount I sold for, the rudeness was uncalled for, and I would have had her fired on the spot if she was my employee.

I just discovered this place a week ago, and I was pleasantly surprised! The DVDs were my main thing, and they have a very fine selection. I actually found a DVD I couldnt find anywhere else for the last month along with another I had only just started looking for. They also have some obscure titles and multi-film sets that Disc Replay across the street would NEVER carry. Very niche bargain sets for martial arts, westerns, and more. What they also carry that Disc Replay doesnt are CD singles, audio cassettes, and VHS tapes. They also have a wide array of vinyl records which Disc Replay has only just recently begun offering. In the printed medium, I was surprised to see comic books for sale. I might take a look at those some day, too. Theres a LOT to see here, and is definitely worth checking out. I have not had much dealings with the staff, but they seem generally quite good at what they do. Plus, there always seems to be quite a number of employees on the floor at all times. So, Im sure service is easy to obtain.

I drove an hour to half price books after a friend recommended on stopped by. I do and buy a few petty priced items, one of them a kiwi Gameboy color for $9.99 that reminded me of childhood days. I asked associate if they tested for proper functionality on electronics/ games and her reply was yes. I get home after ANOTHER HOUR drive and try it, NO SOUND!! Besides the fact that I drove 2 hours and trusted what I perceived to be an honest business, Im wrong, most items are expensive (they pay cents and resell at FULL EBAY/AMAZON RETAIL VALUE) considering the name "Half Price " books. Called and they didnt bother to compensate for the time and or their mistake MAYBE BECAUSE IM A PERSON OF COLOR!!!! keep that Im mind. I will not patronize this business and will RECOMMEND THAT PEOPLE DONT since they dont uphold any quality and dont honor the name "Half price " books, should be ONLINE RETAIL BOOKS as a matter of fact since they based prices on amazon /ebay.

If I could give zero stars to this location I would. I love HPB and consider this chain before going anywhere else for my book purchases however this location is abismal. Their comics are over priced upto 5x the normal market value for used comics. I purchased over $250 worth of comics and was interested in seeing a comic they had in their lockbox (over priced) for $500. It was a bit beat up so I asked the manager if he could cut me a deal as Im a loyal customer and just dropped a little load at his store. Well he pretty much yelled at me in a condescending tone that the prices are as listed. I explained to him that other HPB managers will work with you when your spending in the hundreds. He pissed me off so much I returned my entire purchase right in front of him. Never go here expecting anything nice. I hope that locked comic sits there for years to come!

I went in to sell some books and movies a couple of weeks ago. I regret coming here to sell anything. We sold 10 movies, including a un-opened movie, for a whopping........50 cents. 50. They literally handed us two quarters. And to make matters worse, I thought that since this place is a book store, books would sell at a higher price. I was wrong. We sold about 30 books. We received about 4 dollars. I left totally ripped off and will never come here again. In retrospect, it would have been more profitable for us to burn our books in a campfire. At least we could stay warm for 30 minutes.

Great Selection...if they dont have a book youre looking for, ask them if they can order for you...they arrive in store about two weeks or if shipped via out-of-state, arrive at your home in just a few days. The books are in excellent condition, even shipped books! They have some vintage books (Got a 1869 book in fantastic condition!) Also, check out their greeting and note card selection..eclectic! For the environment conscious...reusable bags available for purchase for about a dollar.

These guys are out of their mind. I was looking at their comic book prices and their prices are ridiculous. Most of the higher end books are priced at 3-4 times the actual value. The guy that runs the comics aspect has no clue what so ever. They have a 1st appearance of gaurdians of galaxy listed for $150 and theres barely any color to the cover and he thinks its in great shape and thinks its fair market value. Their prices are higher than comic book shops.

Ive looked all over for places that sell manga and I found Half Price Books! I was very surprised to see that they sold manga! I have found exactly the books that I was looking for like Kingdom Hearts II. The employes have always treated me with good service and I never had any dificulties buying any books. An all-round great store. Has something for everyone.

Worst. Staff. Ever. They are beyond rude and act entitled and better then their customers. They push you out of the way, they act like youre the problem when you are trying to look and they are absolutely miserable in about every facet of interaction. Dont. Shop. There. Ever! Go to Naperville!!!

Books are overpriced and the worst half price books Ive ever seen. The manager was not helpful and they told my 15% off coupon expired and did not give me discount even if I bought over $400. Next day, I found out that my coupon still works, liar employees!!! Do NOT recommended at all.

Since its opening this store has been extremely kempt and organized. It is restocked frequently and their clearance section is always hiding a few gems. Care is clearly taken to accurately and correctly shelve books. "Half-price" is a little generous, but you cant beat the deals.

Fun place to take the kids. I would have given them five stars except that I dont feel that they offer fair prices for their trade in books. Would be great if they had an area to sit down and enjoy reading a book and having a cup of coffee.
