Unfortnately when we decided to dine there we were not aware it was cafeteria style. We went in late afternoon so there were very few customers which apparently causes the staff to lose focus. The food took a long time to appear which by then it was tepid at best. The bus boy who delivered disappeared just as quickly and we had a hard time getting condiments. The receipt asked us to give a gratuity which baffled me as we got service comparable to McDonalds. The 1 foot 3 cheese grilled cheese was approximately 1 foot but the menu fails to explain that it is only 3/4" wide. (Yes, I measured due to my astonishment at how small the sandwich was) Appetizer at best, cheese not melted and as I wrote earlier, tepid. The side of fries was soggy and tepid as well. The filet sliders were tiny but on the bright side, the house salad dressing was great on the side greens. The staff needs to take a walk though the bathrooms periodically as both the mens and womens were filthy, no paper towels, toilet paper on the floor and the toilets messy. Needless to say we did not use the bathrooms. The back Disabled stall in the ladies room smells of sewer gas reminiscent of a Chicago subway platform. I know they cannot fix it but at least they can alert the proper person to remedy the situation. The manager was no where to be found but the lady at the register offered to give us a napkin to write a note and she would be sure that the manager got it. Gave it one star because I cannot give it none.

Okay so I love the food there but the bakery needs to improve. I love the arugula, spinach & mushroom pizza (without the mushrooms). That pizza is to die for, so good I will even eat it cold. I also get the Astoria Waldorf Salad and i love to get that on the side. Theres enough food to share between 2-3 with those two items. The reasoning for the 3 stars is because I stopped by at the bakery after my lunch and I ordered one macaroon of each flavor (raspberry, chocolate, pistachio and french vanilla). Everything but the raspberry was so hard and dryer than a cracker I couldnt even eat them. I would try to bite into one and it just so awful & dry I had to throw them out! A bakery needs to learn that if products arent selling, dont keep them out till someone buys it! Its not like alcohol inventory, a bakery needs to have their inventory fresh EVERYDAY. I also got a red velvet cupcake and it was dry & not moist at all. Thank God the frosting was delish or I could have never been able to swallow the dry cake. Next time I will request one from the front because she took it from the back and I know thats how they fill their shelves--from front to back--so they sell their oldest baked goods first. Anyways, management needs to get on that part of the restaurant asap.

I was just at Labriola with a friend and we sat for over a half an hour (from 11:43 am order time to 12:17pm lunch on our wobbly table) waiting for a salad. We asked two different people, one who was a manager, to check on the status of our lunch and showed our receipt indicating the time our meals were ordered. The response was sorry, it is really busy today with catering and we had people not show up for work. There was never an inquiry as to what they could do to make this experience better, just an Im sorry, which was tantamount to sit and wait because you are not really important to us. This place is a bakery for heavens sake and an offer to bring us a cookie or get our next lunch was never even considered, let alone offered. We would not have accepted a cookie by the way, but it would have been nice if someone would have at least asked what they could do to change the experience. I continue to want to like LaBriola, but on several occasions when having lunch with a group, lunches come out very far apart. They need to improve their systems. Todays experience was a topper. After sharing our frustration with a manager and not receiving any sort of resolution- not sure I will ever go back.

We made reservations for patio because we heard it was an awesome patio. Were told when we arrived that there was a huge party on the patio and no seating available. Why wouldnt they know this ahead of time if it was a preplanned large group?? Whats the point of a patio reservation? The restaurant is very kid friendly and kid loud so we opted to sit in the bar. Service was terrible and slow. Server was annoyed that we wanted to order drinks. Wine glass stems were greasy, menu was greasy and server brought apps without napkins or silverware. Only one entree was served and server was annoyed that we asked for clean silverware for entree. The next pizza entree was served over 30 min later. Server grabbed plates for the second entree from another table where guests were already sitting. That was kinda gross. Night was kinda ruined....had high hopes. Food and atmosphere were good, but service was just too lacking for Oakbrook expectations.

Okay, so this is the second time in a row that we have been disatisfied. The first was because they burnt the crust on our pizza which took forever to come out and the other order was out and almost finished. Took some time to get a manager who ended up comping the pizza, we ate 1 whole slice, so. Second time, breakfast. Ordered the "toad in the hole", a total rip off, two pieces of bread with a couple fried eggs and two small pieces of bacon for $7.99, no potatoes. Should put that one on the kids menu, cause that is all that is enough to feed. We also ordered the banana crepes $8.99, way overpriced, sorry. The fruit that came with it looked overdue, the raspberries were too mushy and one starting to mold, doesnt anyone look at this on the line before it goes on the floor? I dont know what was changed, mgmt, staff, cutbacks, etc, but change it BACK! Totally not worth losing customers.

This is a great little place in Oak Brook. There arent traditional servers that come around to bring your food or drinks but instead its serve your own. However, there are people that come around that will check how things are going and will occasionally do a refill or take your plates. So the only approximation that I can describe it is a cross between a regular server and bus boy. It works though because of the high customer turnover. Labriola is a quaint place. Great atmosphere and incredible food. I had the steak sandwich and I was expecting slices of steak. Nope. I got steak medallions that were incredibly tender and juicy. Definitely worth the money and the visit. Unfortunately I now live in Portland, OR or else I would be there everyday.

Watch you personal belongings. I had my new iPhone stolen from here. I did a "find my iPhone" search from my iPad and the location indicated my phone was inside the restaurant. Six hours later my phone was still inside the restaurant. Got nowhere with the GM until I called the Oak Brook police. Then the GM had a "talk" with the employees and requested the culprit to hand over the phone. No one confessed. I received no apology from the manager nor any type of meal compensation. All I wanted was my phone returned... But some type of apology wouldve been appreciated. Ill never go back again and will discourage everyone I know to stay away from this place.
