This was the most terrible car buying experience I have encountered. I bought a Honda from this place because I needed a car that was better on gas. And it drove great on the test drive but the guy took us on a way that you cant get much speed to test it out. Well it seemed to check out. So I traded in a perfectly great SUV for this nightmare Honda I soon found out. Not ten minutes after I left the lot the thing wouldnt shift. It was the vtec solenoid valve. They cleared the codes so it wouldnt act up. I went straight back there and the guy was extremely rude! I argued with him for a half hour. I told them I wanted my SUV back. And they refused even when I offered money for it, On top of that they said they couldnt sell it back because it was at the "shop". Even though I went to theyre shop to have the Honda looked at and it was Not there. Very suspicious is you ask me! Two weeks later the car overheated and I found out there was oil in the cooling system. Meaning it had pinholes in the block. Basically meaning the engine was trash. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM HERE!! Save yourself from the nightmare of this scam of a dealer! Run from here!!!!

Places like Shults Auto Sales are the reason used car dealers get a bad reputation. The owner was VERY rude, smelled of alcohol, and tried haggling with me over a $50 price difference in my offer on a $15,900 car! When I told him "Youre really going to change my offer over $50?" He responded "Yes, now either take the car or leave." I could not believe how offensive and impolite he acted. After I told him that I would be writing a review of his business, he told me to leave and said that he will not sell me the car I wanted or any other car. He then told his salesman that I was not allowed to ever purchase a car from Shults Auto Sales. I also happened to know someone at the car auction he bought it from and I told the owner that I knew the price he paid, and that I thought my offer was more than fair. He responded that my friend was a damn liar. When I told him that it was not too late to apologize, he responded "Theres no way in hell Im apologizing, now leave my lot!" He was clearly intoxicated and I would not recommend ANYONE to buy a car from Shults Auto. I can not believe Shults Auto Sales is still in business after such awful service.

Buyer beware! You are not allowed to test drive without a salesman so really no opportunity to check vehicles out. They will not leave your side. They hide problems with the vehicle. No warranties. Within minutes of leaving the dealer small problems showed themselves. And now larger problems have been discovered. If you choose to buy from them be sure to do a complete inspection, from brightlight switches working, windshield wipers working, all windows operating properly, to lugnuts being stripped. Take it to a mechanic of your choice. They will work hard to get you financed, but probably because they want to make a sale. When I pickrd up my plates and told them the problems I have had and the money I had had to put out they ignored it and changed the subject as the owner walked away. If they want happy and repeat customers they should try to make things right with the customers because I will not refer anyone there or go back.

I have purchased several vehicles from shults auto sales and have had nothing but exceptional service. I refer anybody looking for a good used car to go there first! If you are looking for a NEW car go to a NEW car dealership, but if youre looking for a great used car this is the place to go!!!! As far as the craigslist comment goes...........save your time and money and go to shults trust me i waisted plenty of time on craigslist. And as far as the neon goes apparently you had no use for the car either....right or you wouldnt be trying to get rid of it. I guess the bottom line is if you are looking to buy a car, dont expect them to pay you to buy the car, with the economy the way it is the strong survive......what happened to extreme jeep/ford, viking dodge, champion dodge........obviously they werent giving such great deals after all. Shults auto sales since 198x for a reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

POOR QUALITY. I Purchased a vehicle a little over 3 months ago, still do not have the plates they promised to mail me. Have driven the vehicle about 350-400 miles and the 4x4 has gone out and had to replace all 4 BALD tires. (I know I should have checked the tires prior to purchasing, but the salesman said he put new tires on it, and it was a dark winter night the time of purchase). The vehicle has other issues I did not notice during test drive, like electrical problems - odometer goes out on its own and comes on when it wants to, the vehicle makes loud noises when idling, and the radio overheats when on for a long period of time. I know I am responsible for checking out the vehicle I purchase, but boy did this turn out to be a nightmare purchase!!

These people are con artist, they are nice up front but the cars have cleared codes and hidden problems. I took a train from saint Louis to purchase a used subaru impreza out back, car was clean and looked nice. Took it for a test drive which they make some awkward guy accompany you on a select rout where you cant go over 40mph to see if it has any problems. It is now a month later and the car needs a new engine and exhaust because the cleared the check engine light long enough for the test drive. The car also had a blown head gasket that they litterally tried hiding by covering the engine in silicone. These people are thieves and low lifes I hope others read this review and stay away.

DO NOT GO HERE! The worst decision Ive ever made. Spotted a beautiful 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee in their lot, test drove it, drove great, bought it, and the next morning....transmission problems! It is now a month later and I find out that the Jeep has a bad transmission. JIM SHULTS told me that it is "my problem" and that "Im lucky to have gotten the car for only $8,000". Before selling me the car he wiped out all of the codes that were making the check engine light come on so that anyone test driving the car wouldnt know about the issues. It only took 15 hours after buying the car for the check engine light to come on and now most of my time and money is being spent on this POS Jeep.

Bought a jeep from here. Sold it after 2 months, lost money on it. Worked with Jose. He was fine at first but demanded that I insured the vehicle prior to even buying it! Wouldnt let me buy it otherwise. Super sketchy. Also, they finance through terrible lenders so the interest is insane. All in all I loved the jeep, yet they couldnt tell me any of the history due to its "age". Yet they dont sell them cheap and dont have a mechanic on hand to check things out. I took the car home, started leaking oil like crazy, stereo didnt work, there were several times that I couldnt get it to start and at that point I wanted it off my hands.
