Cute little store, unique for its location. I did the build-your-own sandwich. Shame on me. $17 later I ended up with a super tasty deli sandwich. But seventeen dollars?? The base (bread, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato onion) is $5. I chose jamon Serrano and a salami, each at $4. Gooey daffinois cheese: $3. Tapenade: $1. I suppose they can get away with this downtown, but it felt so wrong. The receipt showed that I was charged for 0.27 pounds of meat, and its pretty unlikely that it contained that much (see pic). Delicious sandwich, but egregious prices.

Pastoral has very filling and fresh sandwiches and salads! My favorite sandwiches are all the turkey ones - they use real turkey slices (and they are pretty thick slices)! The sandwiches usually have a delightfully creamy sauce and/or a light cheese. All the ingredients taste like they came from your own organic garden! Absolutely worth the price (the sandwiches range from ~$7-$11 each)! Pros: - quality ingredients - large cheese selection Cons: - long wait (during peak hours) to order and get food - few seats indoors

Un choix intéressant mais limité de fromages et charcuterie. Les sandwichs sont plutôt bien mais trés chers ! On peut manger sur place mais il ny a pas deau; pour boire, il faut donc acheter une bouteille...

This is one of my happy places. Delicious sandwiches! (And you can get a punch card so after you buy 10 you get one free.) Also, you can just buy cheeses, meats, breads, wine, artisanal sauces/condiments/chocolate/etc., craft beers and small-batch booze. Small collections of everything, but so well curated. They are happy to let you sample the cheeses, meats and homemade spreads/salads/whatnots and help you pick the perfect thing.

These people really know their cheese. But this is cheese to taste, not to fill up on. It is quite pricey but a genuine taste experience. They have good deals on day old bread, and their seeded bread is wonderful. There is not much difference in flavor after just a day, and it can be stored in the freezer after slicing, and defrosted in the toaster. A day old loaf is only $4.50 as opposed to $7 regular.

Wifey was craving fried chicken and this popped as one of the best on Yelp in Mission District. I was surprised to not see any customers which made us hesitant but after 10 mins of back and forth, we decided to give it a go. The cashier was super nice. We just went with chicken tenders and they came out pretty good. Nothing extraordinary. I guess I will have to try one of their sandwiches some day.

Higher end sandwich shop, also sells lots of products to go, from meats cheese and breads to wine and beer, not a whole lot of space to sit, most people get stuff to go, I had the yelp check in sandwich, and it was very good, it can get crowded and orders might take a while so just be prepared for that, easy to get to, right off the L lake stops, plus it has an olive bar

AMAZING!! The prosciutto fig sandwich is to die for and I am obsessed with their pickle flavored chips! This place is also great if you want to pick up cheese and spreads for a party. The staff is more the helpful, offering samples as much as you would like! They also lend great advice for combinations that are sure to wow friends or party guests.

Great spot for high quality cured meats and cheeses. Visited recently for lunch and had the Blue Pig & Fig sandwich and the house side salad. Sandwich was the perfect combination of savory and sweet. Pricey for a weekday lunch and service behind the register left something to be desired. Tiny seating area so be prepared to grab and go.

Amazing sandwiches. Always my top choice in the loop. A little pricy and the service is kinda weak at times, but thats mostly due to the large lunch rush. Call in your order to avoid the wait. I love the club nuovo. Also, the staff is very knowledgeable about the products if you have questions about wine, cheese, etc.

Ordered the Mediterranean Turkey sandwich and it was good. The white bean spread on the sandwich was the best part! The sourdough bread wasnt great; I wish I had gotten the sandwich on baguette instead. The line does not move quickly so be prepared to wait. Thought it was overpriced and overhyped.

Great for picking up a sandwich to go... If you want to eat in, theres just a couple tiny tables, and not much selection for drinks. Also you cant drink alcohol in the store (though they sell wine and beer). Sandwiches are delicious! I like the wheat bread as its softer.

Got a turkey sandwich and spicy ginger soda. The food was very high quality and delicious. The staff was extremely welcoming and helped us with any questions we had. Really cool spot! Just wish they had some more inside seating. Definitely check it out!

Yum. This place is right across from my work and so good. The turkey sandwich is my go-to. Its also a great place to pick up sandwiches before a concert in the park. They have wine too - so pretty much can grab everything you need for a great night out!

Pastoral is easily the best cheese and wine shop in the entire city of Chicago. With an extremely friendly and knowledgable staff you will not be disappointed. Make sure to come in for a sandwich or their health nut salad. Its healthy and crazy tasty.

On a recent cheese buying trip I decided to stop into Pastoral. Knowledge and Excitement is what I was met with. I ended up finding a perfect wine to pair with and also got a interesting pickled Raisin Jam. I am excited to try them all together.

Love this Pastoral location for sandwiches to go. Never have time to spontaneously stop by (as line at lunchtime is VERY long)... so always plan ahead and call in my order in advance for pick up. Definitely many yummy options to choice from!

Little hidden, but it is so good when you find it. I walked by it many times without realizing theres sandwiches in there other than just a wine shop. Great place to grab a gourmet sandwich before heading to the park for music events!

An amazing cheese and sandwich joint just outside of the loop. This is a perfect spot to grab all you need for a picnic and head over to Grant Park for a concert or an event in the park. The quality of the products is extremely high.

What a great sand which! But you already know that. A truly artisan work of food deliciousness. Had the Grant substituted giardiniera for the regular peppers and avocado for the tomatoes. So delicious. The fresh mozzarella, yummmm.

I have to admit-- I am ADDICTED to this place! The cheese selection is amazing, and the sandwiches are to die for. THe only thing is that its pretty expensive- so living less than a block away definitely hurt my bank account.

Great artisan sandwiches made to order. The food is delicious but they have limited seating and a decent crowd waiting to be served. Avoid the lunch rush and order ahead of time if you can, otherwise expect a 20 minute wait.

Great place to grab a sandwich or gourmet offerings. $$$$ for what they offer, but good nonetheless. Takes a while to get food too, be ready to wait up to 10 minutes or more for a sandwich, recommend calling ahead to order.
