Approximately 6 months ago I went to Value City Furniture on Cicero Ave in Burbank. I am a single parent on a limited income, in need of quality furniture on a limited budget. Value City was the only store that had a form of layaway known as a price lock, so I could make payments on the furniture, as buying on credit is not an option for me. I had a good experience because I had a knowledgeable, polite & professional salesman, ARMANDO I. I was nervous making a first time major purchase but I felt at ease with Armando I. I explained my financial situation, & the challenge of finding a smaller sectional that would fit inside my small home. Armardo I. recommended a beautiful smaller sized sectional that was perfect for the space, budget & came in the color I was looking for. It was also a close out, so it was discounted, & I saved over $200. There was a small coffee table with the sectional that I didnt like, but Armando I. recommended another set I did like. It was an elegant 3 piece set, a glass top coffee table & 2 matching end tables, on sale & within my budget. He even moved the coffee table & end tables over for me, so I could see what they looked like, with the sectional. They looked perfect & I absolutely loved them! I put $100 down for everything, & I either came in every paycheck to put more money down, or I made a payment over the phone. Price lock is not layaway, but I knew the whole time my close out sectional was still available, as the number they still have are in the computer. Im very happy with the furniture, its beautiful, durable, sturdy & very comfortable. I purchased quality furniture at a reasonable price. I didnt purchase any of the warranties. They are a very expensive & are a waste of money. I read too many bad reviews about the warranties not beng honored. I also read a lot of negative reviews from customers who didnt want to pay for delivery, picked the furninture up, assembled it themselves, then had all kinds of problems. I paid the $100 for delivery & avoided that whole mess. They were very nice & assembled everything in my home. I checked all of the furniture, there wasnt a scratch or any chips. it was all in perfect condition.

My experience here has been horrible. I recently bought a bed from here a salesperson by John and he was helpful. However, when I went to pick up my bed I was laughed at by one of the workers Keith because I chose use a car and tie it on top. I tried to look past that, but things just got worse. Keith watched my boyfriend as he started to carry things to the car. It wasnt until I asked if he could help that he reluctantly helped. Before arriving, I called to ask if they had string so I could tie the headboard on the car, they said they did. When I asked if they had string the worker Keith threw the string on the ground and said, "here you go". I had never been disrespected like that in my life. I told the manager, but Im not sure what happened from there I didnt receive an apology from Keith. Then I get home and my instructions for the bed as well as the legs are missing. Great! I called up their today 3/27/17 and spoke to Angie who yelled at me saying how she has to order a whole new bed to get my legs. She made it seem as if I was inconveniencing her when in all actually Im the one who is being inconvenienced, treated horribly, and who has paid for a bed that has missing pieces. Im not sure if it is just this Value City who have rude employees, but its hurtful when you spend money at a company and in return they treat you like dirt. In the process of writing a letter to corporate or whom ever else I have to talk to because if they are doing this to me Im sure others have felt mistreated as well.

When my new bedroom suite and bookcase arrived 02/13/2015, I learned that my traditional mattress and box spring would be too high and I would have to purchase something called a "Bunker Board". I also learned that the delivery team doesnt assemble bookcases. I was told at the store that they did. I called the store and was told that I was misinformed. This is unacceptable! I have to pay someone to come and assembly my new bookcase, I also had to purchase a Bunker Board (A smaller box spring) and a mattress. Money that I did not have in my budget. SUGGESTION, I havent purchased new furniture in 15 years and was not aware of the major changes and innovations. I was not fully educated on my purchase. PLEASE have your sales people educate customers BEFORE they make a Major furniture purchase. You seem to have very nice sales professionals which is great! However, as a consumer, I need to fully understand exactly what Im about to purchase. If I had known about the bed., I would have purchased a different bedroom suite. I literally have to use a step ladder to get in bed. This caught me totally off guard and I dont like surprises! Especially when its going to cost me more money that I didnt plan on spending.

I agree with EVERY BAD REVIEW written about this Value City store. The leather set of furniture I bought almost a year ago...the seat cushions have gone flat! The store kept scheduling pick up times to get the furniture without checking with me first to make sure the date was good with me! When I finally worked a date In July 2013 for them to come get my sofa for repairs (because I did purchase a warranty) they have not called back to give me a status update, a time frame of when I will get my furniture back or anything! Its been almost two months and now the love seat is going flat as well. So they will have to come get the love seat as well once we FINALLY get my sofa back! The service dept SUCKS!! NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW ANYTHING EXCEPT 1 PERSON AND THEY ARENT THERE ALL THE TIME! I SO REGRET BUYING FURNITURE FROM THEM AND WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN! I SPENT ABOUT $2800 ON A FURNITURE SET WITH END TABLES AND TWO ROLL OUT BEDS! SO NOT WORTH THE MONEY AFTER ALL THAT IM GOING THROUGH! STAY AWAY! DO NOT SUPPORT OR BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE!!

This company does not care about customer satisfaction. They will say anything to make a sale. I purchased a bed and futon on a friday. They said they would deliver the futon on the following tuesday, but it would take another 3 weeks to deliver the bed. I explained that I was 4 months pregnant, and had nothing to sleep on. They didnt try to work on getting it delivered quicker. They told me to sleep on the futon until the bed comes. The next day, they called and said they wouldnt deliver anything for another 3 weeks. Again, I explained I was 4 months pregnant and had nothing to sleep on. They said it was nothing they could do and did not try to even make a call on my behalf. Dont waste your time or money here. If I had extra time, I would have gone to look for better quality furniture, with a company that has good customer service. Their merchandise is not worth the hassle. The salesman are only trying to make a sale and will sale you anything.
