This place was simply amazing. While it is a Japanese market I was not expecting anywhere near what they had available. If you need any type of Japanese ingredient, I can assure you that you will find it here. Not only was the selection great but the store owner is the nicest lady you will every meet. I can honestly say that it is worth a trip just to meet her. It is very rare to find someone so nice and helpful today. Most businesses treat their customers like an inconvenience but not here. It will be my first time making a Japanese recipe and I was looking around the store for all the ingredients. The owner actually took me to each one and even gave me tips from her own recipes. I strongly recommend you visit this shop at least once as Im sure there is something for everyone.

Came here for the first time after my friend accidently found out that there was an actual Japanese market in Tampa. Its super clean and super quiet when you walk inside, very homely. Seeing how hard it is to find ingredients for Japanese dishes in other oriental markets, Im really glad that this store carries almost every Japanese ingredient that youd need. Heck, my girlfriend got really excited when she saw that the store carried eel, especially the prepackaged kind. I can finally make her unadon. Also, one last note, the prices for the food items here are (in my opinion) cheap, fairly priced. If you go to that Japanese candy store at Oldsmar for the snacks and such, youre probably getting ripped off.

This is not your average, run of the mill, Oriental store. Yes it is a quarter of the size of most others in the area, but what it lacks in size it makes up with products. Kotobuki has one of the largest selections of Japanese goods (Fresh,Frozen and packaged) of any oriental store Ive been to. Me and my girlfriend passed by 2 other stores to find all the ingredients to make Onigiri. Kotobuki, not only had everything we needed, but the owner actually took the time to show us the ingredients we need and how to make it properly. She is a very nice lady more than willing to assist you.

I have been to Kotobuki several and several times. Mrs. Kim (the owner) always greets me with a big smile when I walk through the door. They offer a great selection of vegetables, noodles, candy, soda, and desserts all imported straight from Japan. They also have Japanese along with Korean anime, and language lessons. Continuing on, Kotobuki also offers authentic bowls, chopsticks, etc. Overall, Kotobuki is the place to go for oriental Japanese foods.

Ive been trying to find a place like this for a long time. This place is absolutely the best place around Tampa/St.Pete to find authentic japanese foods. They have awesome drinks that you would find in vending machines in japan along with nice sweets. But the real suprise is that they have all the ingredients to make your own japanese meal. I agree with everyone else that the lady that runs this is amazingly honest and caring and willing to assist.

I love this place. Prices are fair, and the woman who works there walks around with you to help you pick everything out. She even read the directions to me on the back of some of the packets. When I came back a week later I told her how the dinner went and the problem i had with the rice rolls and she had handy tips. I wish I did not move so far south, now this place is 45 minutes away. Kind or hard to pop in on my lunch break. :(

This place is fantastic! Not only does it carry a wide variety of Japanese grocery items (and even some cooking supplies like pots/pans, utensils, even a tabletop burner or two), but the owner is very kind and knowledgeable. She happily answered my questions about recipes and ingredients and was very friendly. Its definitely worth the half hour drive, and Ill be going back for sure!

I love this store! Fresh vegetables, frozen things like spring rolls, dumplings and seafood, great selection of sea-vegetables and delightful new kinds I havent seen at the more Korean-based markets (although they are good to, just different) The nice Lady at the store is knowledgeable on how things can be prepared and she is a breath of fresh air..So happy to see this store here!

Loved it here! I usually go to the Flea Market Japan store for my Japanese product needs but not only is this place bigger its WAY better priced. I spent $20 on a whole grocery bill versus $15 for one item at The Japanese store. They have all you need from frozen foods to table wear, from recipes to dvds and vhs tapes for sale. The BEST people work here too.

This is a small, kind of dimly-lit place. The hours arent really good, and theyre closed on Sunday. But if youre looking for good Oriental fixings and sauces, teas even frozen and refrigerated goods, give this place a try. I wish theyd carried more loose tea, but the Oolong I bought was still good.

I was very happy to find this store...had been searching all over for a specific variety of seaweed...and this was THE ONLY place that I could find it at a very reasonable price. The store owner was very warm, friendly, and quite personable with all of the customers. 5 stars for sure!

Good assortment of Oriental spices Currys foods and teas that you wont find in most places. I was especially looking for some loose oolong tea which they didnt have. But they did have some in tea bags, that actually turned out to be pretty decent, considering it was bags.

Probably one of the last authentic Japanese grocery store in Tampa, I am glad after all these years they are still standing. You can find some heart warming Japanese treats here, as well as cooking ingredients, Japanese literature, gifts, sake, and more.

Expensive. 18$ for a gallon of Kikoman. Nice owners, just expensive. Only go here for the hard to locate stuff or candy and mochi. Other than that, its too expensive for much else.
